For Cole Nelson and a player to be named later.

I hope we have diplomatic relations with the country that ball lands in.

Maggs done?

http://www.blessyouboys.com/2011/8/...must-be-benched

Wow...Delmon is an idiot, much like his brother - and probably a worse defender than Raburn - but hopefully, this gets us a little bit of offense. He's hit well since the 'break.
I love Maggs, but there's no reason to believe he suddenly gets it going over the last 6 weeks. Time's up.

This is what I've been wondering for the last five minutes. Is someone more hurt than we're letting on (Martinez, Boesch)? Is Maggs going to the bench? I hope the latter. Let Maggs work on his game and be a leader in the clubhouse. He obviously has lost his bat speed which hurts his vision because he has to start earlier, but he can still be useful in a reduced role I think.

I have also always hated Delmon. He's got talent, but he's an idiot.

According to Twins' tweets, he's being "dropped off at Comerica" and will reportedly bat third tonight for Detroit.
Methinks Maggs is going to the DL or is designated for assignment.

I'm on a Twins' board at the moment...they're giddy at being rid of him (horrible defender). He's under contract this year only and arbitration eligible next season. He's a FA in 2013, so low risk deal for a rental bat.

The funniest posts are someone fearful that Inge will be the PTBNL...LOL!

You think we'd DFA Magglio? I don't see it, but we could. It is low risk I think and hopefully he hits well for us (.280ish, solid OBP)... he is brutal in the field though.

Betemit is hitting .333 with the Tigers. He's missed one less game in 23 than Inge missed in 78 while hitting .177. How is he not playing every night?

I think Maggs will get the DL with an "ankle" or something, but they may DFA him...who knows? Young is RH hitter and bad defender, so it seems he's here to replace Magglio as bad defender and #3 hitter.

Of course, I'm fearful they send Dirks down or something else silly, but he's the only other one who can play CF, unless they seriously think Raburn is an option there.

I thought Rhymes right away. Raburn playing second. I don't know. DD said it will happen within an hour. When asked about Maggs he said: "we'll have a roster move tonight."

Delmon Young thought the trade was a practical joke.

Maybe they DL Victor with his knee and DH Maggs?

I hope they don't put Raburn in the infield...our defense is horrible already and that won't help.

Nope.

Lineup tonight:

Rhymes back to AAA?

I just heard the lineup. Rhymes back to AAA has to be it, that was my original thought as well. It's terrible for us defensively, terrible. Our corners in the OF are bad. Up the middle on the IF is not good and lacks range. The corners on the IF are average. Really it's just Avila and Hackson that are above average at this point. Peralta isn't bad, but his range leaves something to be desired.

Just announced that Rhymes goes to Toledo.

Our defenes is awful tonight: Young in left, Maggs in right, Raburn at 2b, Betemit at 3b and Avila catching his 23rd straight game...LOL. Glad we don't have a sinkerballer on the hill...oh, wait...

Kid Rick is going to be in tough. Doesn't bode well for Mad Fister in the future either.

Wow I hate this move. I don't mind getting an OF bat due to the struggles of Maggs. However, I hate Delmon Young almost as much as I hate his brother.

This guy is a complete turd! Bad defense, overrated bat (2010 only real good year) and a horrible attitude. This guy is lazy and can be a real clubhouse cancer.

I just found out about this.... This trade is mindboggling to me. I don't get it.

Personally, I like the trade. Young still has a ton of potential and is only 25. Maggs is 75 and showing it, so the defense of Young-Jackson-Boesch in the OF is a wash with the Boesch-Jackson-Maggs defense. I will miss seeing Maggs in there everyday due to being a Maggs fan, but this move gives us much more pop.

This trade could be the steal of the year. Who did we give up? Nobody, and we get a player who one could argue, carried the Twins in the last half of last season. First game as a Tiger he has so far hit a home run and a single.
