Posted 12th August 2010 18:56 IP Ha!
We've lost Coppell after 2 games- what are the odds!?
Clearly a 3-0 loss v Millwall and a 3-2 loss to Southend was too much for him...quitting twat!

Posted 12th August 2010 20:57 IP From what I saw he's stepped out of football manageent completely (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foo...ity/8908308.stm). I have to say that I was surprised when I saw that he was stepping down; he appeared to be one of the best English managers around.

You can bet that he's doing it for some doll.

Posted 12th August 2010 21:07 IP I seem to remember he quite quite early in the season when he was with the Albion a few years ago.
Bit of a shame, as he is a very good manager

Posted 13th August 2010 00:01 IP Shame, he didn't have sufficent integrity or determination to try to see it through.
A couple of songs that will hopefully be sung at the next home game:
To the tune of "Go West"
Coppell what a waste of time, Coppell what a waste of time
To the tune of Hey Baby:
Hey heya Coppell
Oh ah
We wont to knowwwwww
Where your backbones gone

Posted 13th August 2010 15:18 IP Hmm, not entirely sure. It's possible, though James himself said the key reason he signed was Coppell.
Would the chairman really go behind his back? It's possible I guess, but our previous manager before Coppell (Johnson) would not have stuck around had he been forced to sign players- I'm certain he would have handed in his notice so I'm wary of this rumour.

Posted 13th August 2010 15:26 IP In fact, I don't have BCFC World, but this is what Sexstone apparently said on the matter. Shame there is no transcript! From fans forum.
Quote: A few of key points he made were
1. Coppell wasn't in the dark about James. He was consulted about whether he thought going for James was a good idea, and it was Coppell it was who first spoke to James, only after which did Sexstone or anyone else get involved.
2. The pace of change in the Championship player market has been so quick that Sexstone thinks that Coppell was genuinely disconcerted by it. However, there was no change from the policy we have understood from Tinnion's time that he Chairman would back the Manager where he could.
3. The Club has been very active in the transfer market (and he said that we probably haven't stopped yet) but that the demands of clubs was as big a feature as demands of agents in kyboshing possible deals. |
