Maybe by some people yes, we all have our ideal and probably think its odd when other do it differently.

Not really, as other posters have said people are having kids later and later and there's lots that can be done if you are having problems conceiving

Yes, I worry more about that type of thing too. Although I have been quite affected by other symptoms (bad acne, excess hair, irregular periods) they aren't as serious as diabetes.
I think it often goes undiagnosed for ages. None of my doctors ever put two and two together despite having several symptoms, I had to ask for the tests and the only advice I was given was to keep taking the Pill. They don't seem bothered unless you're trying to get preggers.
