Posted 15th March 2010 10:14 IP Hi guys,
As I only just found out that I'm preggers, thought I might ask all the mums out there for some tips..
Going to see my doctor tomorrow..
So no soft cheeses, no raw milk, meat or fish..
Stopped smoking
Is it true your not supposed to sit with your legs crossed?

Firstly whoop congrats chick
secondly take a lot of what you are told with a pinch of salt seriously or you will be scared to breathe
Yes smikoin soft cheese liver or anything uncooked is a no no however dont start sittin in positions your told sit how ever you feel comfy.
Thirdly ask your parents or grandparents what they did and follow their advice rather than the books, the books are great guidelines but are full of a lot of codswhollop too over protective, cotton woll does babies no favours so just go with what feels right fror you, every pregnancy is different and so is every baby, remember that oh and you know best about your body. في حياة أخرى

Posted 15th March 2010 13:52 IP fantastic news chick.
they recommend you take folic acid in the first few months but your doc will tell you what the current recommendations are. (sometimes they change so obv best to check)
good on you with the smoking though!
have you felt ill with it yet or tired? when are you due? You put the moo in cow.

Posted 15th March 2010 14:01 IP Hi irish,
Thanks hun!
Well I'm only a few weeks pregnant, not telling many people yet as it's still early days... I just noticed I was feeling different, very tired yet unable to sleep well, and slightly ill, thought I'd take a test as I was a few days late and yep, it's happening alright..
seeing my GP tomorrow which will make it feel even more 'real'
Still having trouble believing this is really happening...
I should be due somewhere around late november, early december (allthough i don't know much (anything) about pregnancies tbh...

Of course!
It's my BF's.. We've been seeing each other again for a while, was just keeping it quiet, as we hadn't really talked about it that much, and I felt a bit silly about the whole thing..
He's happy and excited and he's 34 so I'm sure he's mature enough to be a dad..

Agreed but hopefully Dutchie is aware that some posters humour is a little darker than others. You can see it, but not from here!

Precisely, early days, what is WRONG with you? If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

Posted 16th March 2010 18:16 IP I can see both sides, I am really pleased for you dutchie and hope the b/f is supportive, it can cause stresses if it is not a joint decision to start a family, but if he was that determined not to be a father he would have had a vasectomy.
I only told close family that I was pregnant and told friends and work after my first scan at 12 weeks. I can understand your excitement, different people handle it in different ways.
I think the lesson is if you live out your worries and problems on an open forum you are fair game for peoples comments, negative and positive....it took me a couple of years to realise that and so now I only post what I am prepared to take flack for
Good Luck lady....being a Mum is the best thing I ever did....enjoy
