Posted February 3rd, 2012 11:37 PM IP Clay had a 23-13 lead in the 2nd but gave up an 11-0 run to close out the half. Then in the 4th they were up 40-34 with about 5 minutes left, went into a stall till you turn it over mode, and got outscored 16-3 to finish the game.
But in more important news, Clay won the JV game 38-27 and the reason I was there had a couple points and several rebounds.
And Fred's pizza in Wheelersburg is awesome

Posted February 3rd, 2012 11:52 PM IP Grew up on that pizza. They make a big one that is impressive. I told my wife about it and she thought it was one of those it probably seemed bigger when you were a kid moments. Then I carried it out to her in the car. We had a Dodge Caravan at the time. With the front seat all the way back it rested on the dashboard in the front and on her chest in the back with no extra room. It's a big pizza pie.

Posted February 4th, 2012 12:02 AM IP I'm down here with family to visit an uncle who's in the hospital. I have a 2nd cousin who's a freshmen that plays on Clay's JV team, so while we're down here my Dad (Clay alumn) and I went to the game.
It was Green's bball homecoming and it was a pretty cool/loud atmosphere all game. Before the game they turned off the lights and everyone in the cround had green glow sticks and they also had a green spot light for the team entrance, pretty neat for a little school like that.

Posted February 4th, 2012 12:17 AM IP Do they have a new building courtesy of the tobacco settlement like most of southern Ohio? Another small world thing. There is a guy I play pick up ball with and live around the corner from who played for Green. He was the D4 player of the year. He lives right here in Shelby. We were talking between games a few years back and find out we grew up 10 minutes from each other. He is a bit younger.

Posted February 4th, 2012 08:44 AM IP I think Green's school is fairly new, like 10-15 years old or so. Clay's is brand new and I might get a chance to see the inside of it today. I have no idea how either was funded, though I think it's kind of ridiculous that these really small schools are getting new buildings like this. Especially Clay and New Boston, who are both tiny and right up against the Portsmouth district.
Speaking of Scioto county people in Shelby, also at the game last night was one of my dad's cousins who grew up in New Boston and now lives in the Shelby school district.

Posted February 4th, 2012 09:03 AM IP If they used the OSFC money (the money Shelby is using) it is Ohio's portion of the tobacco settlement. Wheelersburg built their school with that money, too. I agree. It is money poorly spent in school districts that could and may soon consolidate.
