The pitchers and catchers are in Lakeland, ready to begin defense of the American League championship. Victor Martinez is returning from injury. Torii Hunter adds his bat and glove to the lineup. Mike Ilitch wants to see his team take one more step forward at the end of the season.

A good year awaits--play ball!

The pitchers and catchers have reported to camp, and we are anxiously awaiting BBmind to report to this camp.

I don't like saying this, but Tiggies will repeat as AL Champs.

I love listening to Tribe fans get all "gitty" over the trades that they've made and the free agent signings that they've put together during the off-season!! Sorry, but I for one don't see many of those signings as being huge improvements but its ok.....get all excited over 'em if that's what you need to feel good about your team.
Problem is.....who's going to PITCH and WIN games for you?? Ubaldo? HAHA Instead of worrying about the offense the Indians should have been trying to bolster their pitching staff which simply isn't very good. IMO, there's Detroit and then there's everyone else in the A-L Central. The Tigers SHOULD have the pitching and the offense to win 90+ games this season. (of course, no one knows what role injuries are going to play til they happen) Tell me Tribe fans, where are you going to come up with 90 wins?

LOL at trolling your own team's thread.

Sorry BHSalum, while these threads never really have much chance of staying on topic in the first place, this time it was your own partner in Michigan love that officially got the ball rolling

I set it there because of all the Tribe fans that come over here --- one specifically. He likes to stir the pot.....so I'm doing some stirring of my own!!! Besides, am I not allowed to talk about other teams in the A-L Central?? Also, tell me where I'm wrong in what I said??

..i'm not even sure why MLB is making the tigers play a 162 game schedule. Jus give them a free pass to the playoffs and be done with it!

I don't know about that. If the Angels get consistent pitching I'd say they could give them a run. But they'd be about the only team I'd be comfortable saying that about.

stir away Tv, maybe you can stir away those memories of getting swept by the Giants last year. Tigers are a nice team that had a nice year, but they proved who and what they are. You may be happy being 2nd best last year, so be it, not sure if they give out 2nd best word series rings though....

Quite so, MKIA, but that AL pennant will still be a fine thing to see when visiting Comerica this season--not to mention our second consecutive AL CENTRAL DIVISION title, the highest honor that awaits any MLB team (at least, according to bbmind).

MrKnow......you'd give your left nut and most likely you're right one too just to sniff the World Series. Sure I wanted to see the Tigers win it all but I never expected them to get there so I was more than happy. The Tigers got off to a very sluggish start and thanks to a White Sox implosion they secured the A-L Central Division title.
This year, I'll be disappointed if they don't make a stronger case as they have Martinez back and have added Hunter and some other key pieces. Thanks for enjoying the Tigers thread...hope you'll be back all season!!!
Not trying to stir the pot......just find it amusing that Indians fans feel free to come onto the Tigers thread and voice their opinions but I'm not allowed to voice mine on the Indians thread or even on this one for that matter!! Talk about thin-skinned!!!

I suppose this was aimed at me, though I'm not sure where I ever said you can't voice your opinion this or any other thread. I just found it amusing that, given how BHSalum is always desperately trying to keep these Detroit threads on topic, that you'd be the one to ruin it before any Indians fan had even posted on it. While I conceded that it was inevitable anyway, I just found it funny that the Michigan side fired first, and pointed that out to him.

Believe what you want OSU......I've got alot of Indians fans and I simply found it interesting that they seriously think all of the offseason moves have them in position to win the division! They aren't the only ones either as the Indians announced the other day that they sold more season tickets in one day than they had all season a year ago. Somebody's drinking the cool aid!!!
But again, thanks for all the Tribe fans visiting......nice to see you here!!! hehehe

While I don't doubt that this is true, I do doubt that it's the reason you made that post.

I think your reasoning was more like......how should I put this....well, it's proaby best to just use your own words on the subject:

OSU.....I like to talk baseball. I don't do it in unfriendly terms either as you can go to your beloved Indians thread and see that I'm not one to go onto the Indians thread and talk smack. However, it most certainly doesn't work both ways as most Indians fans love to come onto the Tigers thread and "dig" as you can see from last year.
I wasn't "stirring the pot" with Tribe fans in general as much as one in particular who loves to come over here and spew his hate and closed minded thinking.
BTW, they miss you over on the Indians thread!!

Looks like the Tigers are shopping around to see if there's any interest in starting RHP Rick Porcello. Talks started with the Diamondbacks but they aren't ready to make a move.

Verlander with 3 no-hit innings today vs the Mets. Nice to see Detroit starting to play better recently. Exhibition baseball is just that though -- I don't get too worked up one way or the other during these grapefruit league games.

Verlander gives up no-hits in his 3 scoreless innings, Schertzer gives up no runs in his 3 innings and now Porcello strikes out 6 in his 4 scoreless innings. Nice to see the starting pitching doing well.....now, can they keep this up when the real games begin? lol

Tigers released Outfielder Brennan Boesch today......might as well do it now and pay him a lot less than waiting til the season is set to start. I liked Boesch as he's a solid player but he's just not developed at the plate the way many envisioned.

LAKELAND, Fla. -- No matter how well Tigers top prospect Nick Castellanos hit in Spring Training, he was headed to Triple-A Toledo. Judging by the way he hit, though, he shouldn't be there long.

The expected move came Tuesday, with Castellanos as one of eight cuts from the Tigers' spring roster. A non-roster invitee, he was sent to Minor League camp along with reliever Trevor Bell, infielder Argenis Diaz and outfielder Tyler Collins.

Among those on the 40-man roster, second-base prospect Hernan Perez was optioned to Double-A Erie, while catcher Bryan Holaday, right-hander Jose Ortega and left-hander Duane Below were optioned to Toledo.

Looks like manager Jim Leyland has decided on his 5th starter to open the season and its going to be Porcello - which sends Smyly to the bullpen to start the season. Based on how both have pitched this spring I think that was a fair decision although I do like having the lefty Smyly as a starter too.
Tigers farmclub in Toledo could be loaded with talent to open the season!!

I'm not aware of any Tigers fans on here but several bandwagoners or wrongwagoners depending on when they started liking them. If they atarted when Detroit was good it's bandwagon, if they started when they were bad it's wrongwagon. Either way tomorrow starts another season where they won't get it done.
That's why I'm bbmind.

How much would you like to bet that the Tigers win the AL Central bb?? You're so sure of yourself that this one needs to be called out. If not Detroit then who do you think is going to win the division?? Surely not your beloved Indians that haven't won anything of any importance since before you were most likely born!?!?
So, put up or shut up time........I've got MY Tigers........who do you have and what amount are you willing to put on it??

The Indians won the AL Central in 2007. BB was alive and well.

Do division titles not count towards your level of importance? If not, then why are you wanting to bet on who wins the AL Central? If it's put up or shut time then put your money down on winning the world series since that's the only thing that matters right....

scout15, you must be forgetting all the taunting bbmind did before Detroit won the AL central two years ago. He is the one who decides all the rules of fandom and success, so all the division titles Cleveland won outweigh the Tigers' two pennants since the Indians last won one.

Tigers scored two runs in the top of the first. Verlander sets the Twins down without a score. 2-0 after one.

They can win all the AL Central's they want, let me know when they catch the Tribe in AL Central Titles. Again, no one on here is a real Tigers fan anyways.

They won't win the WS that's the real deal, they couldn't even win it when they played an 83-win Wild Card team.

That's why I'm bbmind.
