Yep, making up for the ridiculous LOB so far tonight. Hamilton broke out the old "he has left a small village on the basepaths" line to describe Cabrera's performance so far tonight.
Speaking of announcers, Rosey's "....he lost him" call for walks is getting old. And on one play he literally said "Popped up on the infield.........the second baseman under it........make that the shortstop.......actually the 3rd baseman Keppinger puts it away to end the inning." Did they all come together or something? I was beginning to wonder who else might step in and make the play.
And the background noise at the Tropicana Dump sounds like a combination of Johannesburg, South Africa and Starkville, Mississippi.

Buy me a five hour energy, take a nap with Hernandez and Ken Griffey. Snooze, snooze, snooze 'cause it's boring...if I wake up it is a shame. For it's 3, 4, 5 hours long at the old ball game.

So we just barely escape the 8th.

Posted July 16th, 2012 10:54 PM IP Yep it could and probably should have been about a 10-2 game, but regardless of the margin it all counts the same.
Bad situational hitting is still killing them. And it's starting to become more frequent than earlier in the year.
And it's crazy that a guy pitching in Columbus is the reliable starter right now. Give a man a fish, he eats for a night. Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.

I'd rather hear Mrs. Banbury my Jr. High teacher do the game.
Don't the Indians do any market surveys?

Posted July 17th, 2012 01:10 AM IP Aside from Hammy I think the announcers and commentators who call the Indians games are pretty poor as a whole.
You guys have touched on Rosie. Seems likes a genuinely nice man, but he shouldn't up there with Hamilton.
Manning is an arrogant Prick.
Underwood like Rosenhaus comes across a hell of a guy, and is usually right on a lot of in game tactics, but he's not great at connecting with the viewers.
Jason Stanford is beyond terrible in the pre game and various STO clips. Again though, personality wise seems like a cool dude.
I like Pawlowski but they don't give him enough gigs.
Drennan is all right and Chuck is about as good as he can be for dealing with all the morons who call his show.
I miss Mike Hegan. He wasn't as good as Hamilton on the radio (but who is?), but the man reeks of baseball knowledge. Give a man a fish, he eats for a night. Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.

Posted July 17th, 2012 01:14 AM IP Growing up with Herb Score with Hammy, everyone made fun of him due to his mis pronounciations and botches, but he knew his stuff and he let the game develop instead of talking all over it. Hegan was lightly similar.
I don't mind Underwood. Manning is a jackass I agree, he's used to getting his way and getting laid all he wants I can tell. He's got a bit of Tony Grossi in him, but I don't hate him. He's brutally honest.
Stanford is garbage broadcasting sports. Palowski not too shabby.

Posted July 17th, 2012 01:21 AM IP Manning being brutally honest is true. He's the first to applaud the team when playing well and the first to drill them when they aren't.
I've lost count as to how many times you could tell by his body language that he was PO'd on the post game show after loses when they aren't playing well. He does legitimately care and want the team to win. I do respect him in that regard. Not accusing the others of not caring, but Manning shows it with more animation. As a whole the Indians are batting. 198 with the bases loaded.
The rest of the AL is batting. 273

Posted July 17th, 2012 09:29 AM IP It all evens out in the end. Remember just how good the Indians were earlier in the year with 2 outs and RISP. They were above the league in that category. Baseball has a strange way of evening things out over the course of a 162 game season. Don't let your yesterdays determine your tomorrows!

Posted July 17th, 2012 10:02 AM IP The Indians really haven't been that good with RISP all year. They were performing better earlier on, I will agree with that, but they don't have the bar set real high right now either. They have been awful with the bases loaded all year though. .198 with the bases loaded, especially when over half of those ABs have come with less than two outs, is unacceptable any way you slice it.
They were good at getting the lead off man on, stealing second, advancing him to third, then getting him home. Whether it be a Sac Fly or an RBI ground out.
That philosophy has escaped them recently. It sounds minimal, but when you get as many extra base runners on as they do because they walk so much, it can mean a lot. Give a man a fish, he eats for a night. Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.

The .265 BA with one out actually isn't terrible.
But the combined 10 GIDP in 47 AB w/less than two outs is far beyond ridiculous. Give a man a fish, he eats for a night. Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.

You have to have some signs of competence with men in scoring position. If they were producing with guys on 1st and 2nd while struggling with the bags juiced it would be different. But it doesn't matter what the situation is right now. Stop trying to hit the effing grand slam every time. Give a man a fish, he eats for a night. Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.

Shapiro tweets today about trades, basically sounded like he was throwing out excuses, I am thinking the Indians won't be making any moves.
They know what they were suppose to do this off-season and refused to address it.

Posted July 17th, 2012 08:30 PM IP I think they are going to do something, I just don't know what. And that's the scary part.
I actually agree with his point about how the extra wild card spot is making negotiations more different. It's just that many more teams who think they are still in it and making them buyers instead of sellers. Especially in the AL, where there are no teams double digit games out of that 2nd WC spot. Compared to the NL where there are five.
It does make you wonder how the White Sox were able to get Youk so early. But Boston was ready for him to get out and Chicago rolled the dice. And unfortunately it's paid off. Give a man a fish, he eats for a night. Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.

i thought Jack Corrigan and Mike Hegan were the best team in the history of Tribe baseball
when i die and go to heaven it will be their voices i listen to on the television set with i watch the Tribe on good old WUAB-Channel 43 Lorain/Cleveland
Hamilton and Score on the radio, and no matter what year of Indians baseball i am listening too, Herb Score will be convinced Andy Allanson is still behind the plate.
Joe Tait calling Cavs games, and Ferry throwing bricks off the glass, because those calls and those nights and those memories are better than any Championship could ever be haha.
