Posted January 28th, 2012 11:53 AM IP It snowed two inches here last night, the Red Wings are atop the points standings, it's still a month before Spring-training camps open--but the signing of Prince Fielder has me thinking about baseball earlier than usual.
So--here's the place for Tiger fandom (and foedom) to express their views concerning the Beloved Bengals. Go to it! Barack Hussein Obama: living proof that anyone can become President of the United States.

Posted January 30th, 2012 09:38 PM IP Victor had microfracture surgery on 1-30. ACL to be done in 6 weeks. No way he plays in 2012. Does this maybe put 2013 in jeopardy? It took Guillen 2 years.....

Posted January 30th, 2012 09:42 PM IP Microfracture is no joke, look at what it has done to Grady Sizemore.
Some people respond well to this type of procedure and some don't. I love Victor, only Tiger I like so I wish him nothing but the best and for a full recovery.

Posted February 12th, 2012 09:24 AM IP BHS.....I'm excited to get spring training started and get the bats and balls back out and go at it!! The addition of Fielder was something that honestly for some reason didn't totally surprise me. I had this gut feeling that the Motown Kitties were going to do something once they lost Martinez. In fact, I don't think they're done either!! There's a certain free agent pitcher out there that I wouldn't be surprised that they make a move on................... Maybe its the fact that the Tigers had such a great season and I can't wait to get it going again?? All I know is I'm excited to get the season going!!! "Get Busy Livin....or get busy dying!"

Coach Tressel went 9-1 vs. Michigan and won a NC. Thanks for the great run.

Posted March 9th, 2012 12:50 PM IP It's nice to win games--even at the beginning of Spring Training--but I will be more excited if Detroit wins the final six than the first six. It's good to see the top pitchers starting well. Barack Hussein Obama: living proof that anyone can become President of the United States.

Posted April 1st, 2012 08:46 PM IP Spring training is almost over; home-and-home with Toronto (in Florida), then the Mud Hens on Wednesday before opening the season at home against Boston on Thursday. Altogether a good practice session for the Tigers. The top four starters have pitched well: Verlander 2.01 ERA, Fister 1.86, Porcello 1.59, and Scherzer 4.26 (not as great). Drew Smyly won the fifth starter job (2.84). On the hitting side, pretty much as expected: Cabrera and Young hitting for average and power; Fielder for power; Peralta, Boesch, and Jackson keeping up their stats; Avila down a little for average and Inge hitting .180--not good for Inge that he's injured and that Raburn has whacked the ball for more power than we're used to. Andy Dirks is making a strong bid to stay up. Defense is not the team's strong suit, but there should be enough to win the division again. Posted April 7th, 2012 05:56 PM IP Cabrera and Fielder hit back-to-back homers in the fifth inning--first time this season and probably not the last. Tigers have five HR off Josh Beckett; I'm not sure that they've hit that many off of him before today. Fister left in the fourth inning with an injury; replaced by Below. Detroit 7, Boston 0 in the top of the sixth. Barack Hussein Obama: living proof that anyone can become President of the United States.

Posted April 7th, 2012 07:01 PM IP Beckett had a pretty good spring, I wasn't expecting anything like this. Once Fielder hit his 2nd homer I thought back to the Papi/Manny haydays of the 2003-2007 range.

Posted April 8th, 2012 11:12 AM IP Impressive start for the Tigers......allowed just 2 runs in their first 2 games so they're getting the pitching to match the hitting. Fielder and Cabrera each hit 2 HRs but the entire lineup is contributing.....this is a tough lineup to pitch around! "Get Busy Livin....or get busy dying!"

Posted April 8th, 2012 06:21 PM IP Wow, what a clubfest today in Detroit!! Tigers come back from a 10-7 deficit in the 9th to tie it at 10-10 and force extra innings. Then, down 12-10 in the 11th they come back to win 13-12!!! With this many big bats in the lineup no lead is safe!! "Get Busy Livin....or get busy dying!"

Posted April 8th, 2012 08:10 PM IP Been a long time since I've written this...
TIGERS sweep the Red Sox! By scores of 3-2, 10-0, and 13-12 (11 innings), Detroit took the season-opening series against the team that has probably been the biggest thorn in their side over the last decade or more. Justin Verlander pitched eight shutout innings in the opener before Jose Valverde blew his first save since 2010. No matter; Austin Jackson drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth for the victory. Saturday's game was Beckett's parade of homers to go along with another great pitching performance. The only downer was a muscle strain for Doug Fister, who is now on the 15-day disabled list. Today's game was a hitter's affair from the start, with neither Buchholz nor Scherzer lasting very long. Miggy tied up the score with a three-run shot in the ninth; the Tigers rallied from two down in the eleventh to win on Alex Avila's shot. Record 3-0 to take the early lead in the division.
