Posted March 5th, 2012 01:33 AM IP I could very well see Donald getting 400, or possibly even more, plate appearances. This assuming he is the primary backup to Kipnis at 2B and he gets in some games at 3B (big question mark there though) and possibly even LF.
Possibly a 10 HR, 10 SB line in the process? Maybe even a tick higher. I like his game. In my opinion he offers significantly better upside than Phelps while being much more versatile. Give a man a fish, he eats for a night. Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.

I don't won't 40 home run guys, not many can pass drug tests. Just a few that will hit 20-25.
BTW, why do you suppose Sizemore and Haffner's bodies have broken down prematurely?

Steroids, obviously.
I'm not sure what that has to do with the price of tea in China? Take a nap at the ball game, catching up on some Z's. Buy me a five hour energy, take a nap with Hernandez and Ken Griffey. Snooze, snooze, snooze 'cause it's boring...if I wake up it is a shame. For it's 3, 4, 5 hours long at the old ball game.

Posted March 29th, 2012 09:48 PM IP According to Jon Heyman via Twitter, the Indians are on the verge of aquiring Bobby Abreu from the Angels.
My guess is he will mostly play Left while Brantley moves to Center.
I will take this move. Angels I believe are going to eat most of his contract, so that's good and now we at least get a bat.

Posted March 29th, 2012 11:05 PM IP We lose Crowe & some money for Abreu? I'll take it.
Crowe = another one of the Indians graveyard draft picks of the mid 2000's.

Posted March 29th, 2012 11:10 PM IP Not final yet, but it definitely looks like it's going to happen.
Trevor Crowe was pulled from his minor league game tonight as well. No one is sure whether or not he will be a part of it or another trade that hasn't surfaced yet, but he appears to be gone. You would think it doesn't mean much but with the way it's all over Twitter you would think Crowe is a superstar.
I definitely agree though this is a clear upgrade, even with Abreu's diminishing power. But he still drove in 60 runs last year while only hitting 8 balls out of the park. That is pretty efficient. He is still a very good base stealer for being 38 and always brings incredible plate patience. I was on the Duncan for left field bandwagon, but now he will go back to his 4th OF/pinch hitter role. This probably means Canzler opens in Columbus.
Overall though good move. It cant hurt, especially if the Angels are picking up a chunk of his contract. Give a man a fish, he eats for a night. Teach a man to fish, he eats for a lifetime.

Posted March 29th, 2012 11:47 PM IP I just don't know about this team. This was the year to get over with and build after with our young studs like Pomeranz, once klonk's contract was off the books. Now MLB is laughing at us for taking UBaldtire and we're spinning our wheels again.
At least our drafts the past few years have been better, but dammit we're giving those good picks away for declining goofs.
Tribe in a bad spot. Not totally rebuilding not a serious threat to contend either.

like I said last year I don't think Jimenez was necessarily the right move, especially for what they gave up but I am not going to complain because they finally went out and tried something. by all reports they were agressive not only on Jimenez but also Beltran, Pence, Bourne and some others but I guess in their eyes for what people were asking Jimenez was the best move with all things considered. this was really the 1st time since the John Hart era ended that they were agressive in trying to add players who could help win today and not sit back and wait for 3 years down the road.
time will tell how goes Pomeranz and White end up being but as we found out with Matt Laporta can't miss prospects coming from other organizations do infact miss sometimes. in 2007 maybe if they were more aggressive maybe they win it all? I do know that people were up in arms when the Indians traded Max Ramirez to get Kenny Lofton and as it turns out they didn't really give up much more then a good AAA hitter.
I don't know how much guys like Lowe or Abreu but I guess it is worth a try I think we found Kyrie Irving

Posted March 30th, 2012 02:44 PM IP Looks like the Abreu deal fell apart. If the Angels were so hellbent on getting rid of this guy like it has been said then what is the deal? The asking price really should be that high on an almost washed ujp player who is 38

Posted March 30th, 2012 04:42 PM IP Whatever happens, opening day is the 5th! And i will be there ready to consume some beers and pray for a win. Will enjoy watching Masterson on the mound and watching Jose Bautista get ABs. Should be fun regardless. Always good to see the whole city around for opening day, now to just keep that sorta enthusiasm past June. "It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me."

Typical Dolans. Couldn't they at LEAST give the guy 20 BUCKS for what he accomplished last year?

Ubaldo throwing at Rockies players. Drilled Tulo in the back on the first pitch of AB. Benches cleared.

After Ubaldo publicly slammed the entire Rockies organization ... spade a spade here. The guy asked for a trade from Colorado, so move on and BS like this is avoided. Also doesn't seem real smart to do it in your last spring training game and risk suspension. "If you're my enemy and you're by the side of the road with a flat tire, and it's 20 below zero, I'm going to stop and throw a gallon of water on you and keep going."
