Ron, what do you think about possibly going after one of those catchers to allow Santana to play more 1B...possibly a Barajas or Hernandez??

I would rather bring Chun Chen up and let him play then spend money on either of those guys I think we found Kyrie Irving

Posted November 3rd, 2011 10:27 AM IP Santana has to either DH or play first. He cannot be the catcher. There is no amount of offense that he can put up that overcome his defensive ineptitude at that position.

Posted November 18th, 2011 08:40 PM IP Grady Sizemore has backed out of talks with all teams and according to Rosenthal is in serious talks with the Indians on a 1 year deal.
Could be a good deal for Tribe if he does awesome and stays healthy as Grady will look for a bigger contract then. If the Indians fall out of playoff contention early the Indians can look to trade him.

Posted November 22nd, 2011 07:57 AM IP I guess I wouldn't mind seeing Grady back on a one year incentive based deal but I have little faith he will stay healthy and contribute all that much. they might be better served using that money to try and bring in a right handed bat I think we found Kyrie Irving

Exactly my thoughts. That, and why essentially bring back the same lineup from a year ago? I fear they will again sit on their hands and expect guys like Choo, Hafner, etc. to bounce back to their 'healthy' and usual seasons, which isn't a guarantee obviously.

Quote: That changed when the Indians approached Sizemore's camp with an offer that has the potential to be worth as much as his former club option. Sizemore's new one-year pact has a base salary of $5 million and it is believed that the contract's total value would reach $9 million if he achieves the performance bonuses included.
The incentives in Sizemore's deal will not kick in until he reaches 450 plate appearances. |

Posted November 24th, 2011 06:13 PM IP ..I'm ok with bringing Grady back, but at this point, he's a fourth outfielder at best. Maybe he can learn to play a little first base, who knows, but at 5 mill. a year, he's worth a gamble, and knowing Grady and his passion for the game, he'll do everything he can to get back on the field..

Posted December 7th, 2011 11:46 AM IP From mlbtraderumors.com:
The Indians are looking at right-handed hitters such as Derrek Lee, Andruw Jones, and Mike Cameron, tweets Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports. Yesterday we heard the Indians have mild interest in Josh Willingham, and on Friday they were linked to Mark DeRosa.
Also, Morosi says the Indians are willing to trade from their bullpen depth to acquire the right bat.
Champions are made in the off-season.

They also said they don't have a lot of money because of the Lowe and Sizemore signings. WTF!!! Champions are made in the off-season.

Posted December 8th, 2011 09:45 PM IP We all know the Indians will only trade or sign a player that is coming off injury. Get them cheap and hope they have a productive first half so they can trade them to a contendor at the trade deadline for prospects.

Posted December 13th, 2011 08:42 AM IP The Indians have offered contracts to all the unsigned players on their roster, including All-Star shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera and six others who are eligible for arbitration this winter.
Clubs have until midnight EST Monday to tender contracts for the 2012 season to any unsigned players listed on the 40-man roster. Any players who are non-tendered become free agents.
Cabrera
Outfielder Shin-Soo Choo, starter Justin Masterson, closer Chris Perez, third baseman Jack Hannahan and relievers Joe Smith and Rafael Perez have all been tendered contracts. The next step for them is to file for arbitration.

Posted December 21st, 2011 02:11 PM IP The Indians have agreed to a minor league contract with versatile free-agent infielder Andy LaRoche and invited him to spring training.
He’ll have a chance to win the club’s utility infield job.
Primarily a right-handed hitting third baseman, LaRoche was with Oakland last season. He was on the Athletics’ opening-day roster and spent the first two months with the club. He batted .247 in 40 games and played four infield positions.
