Posted July 12th, 2012 06:54 PM IP I think this was a great pick. Take a nap at the ball game, catching up on some Z's. Buy me a five hour energy, take a nap with Hernandez and Ken Griffey. Snooze, snooze, snooze 'cause it's boring...if I wake up it is a shame. For it's 3, 4, 5 hours long at the old ball game.

Video of his playmaking ability. Nice run after the catch. I can imagine Weeden hitting him in stride . . . and lobbing up passes in the corner.

Posted July 12th, 2012 09:57 PM IP One week ago Browns fans felt some optimism about how they had rebuilt the offense. But there was still that elephant in the room - no sign of a #1 receiver in a passing league. We were clamoring for a solution. Now this comes totally out of the blue.
I can't see how Gordon, with his measurables alone, could have possibly gone any lower in 2013 than Kendall Wright did this year.
Good or bad, fans and analysts will be talking about the 2012 Browns draft for 10 years. I'm thinking good . . . really good.
It's been awhile since I've been this optimistic about both the Browns and the Cavs. It feels good.

The tossing occurred after police officers had already arrived on the scene and were attempting to breakup a fight between Sheard and the male who ultimately flew through the air with the greatest of ease.
Pepper spray was involved as well as the fight continued after the tossing and after the officers were still attempting to intervene post-toss. |

hopefully it all works out but the Browns have added a QB, RB, RT, and 2 WRs to the worst offense in the history of history so at least they were smart enough to identify the problem. the thing is they are all rookies and will all make rookie mistakes against what appears to be a pretty tough schedule so I expect them to have a chance to add another big piece high in next years draft.
plus they still have Pat Shurmur as their coach so that probably gives them 8 losses before they even play a game
only 286 days until the 2013 draft and I am always looking ahead lol. really though I can see a situation where the Browns end up somewhere in the top 3...if things go really bad and they pick 1st it opens up the door to a Rams-Redskins type deal for someone who may want to jump up and get Barkley I think we found Kyrie Irving

Posted July 13th, 2012 11:37 AM IP Yes, they're rookies and it's going to take a year to get up to speed. The group of assistant coaches is impressive. Hopefully, they can make NFL players out of the young guys. (Very important.)
Then we'll add a game changing impact player to the mix next year. I feel much better now that I've given up all hope.

Posted July 16th, 2012 01:21 PM IP Browns are ranked a sad 18th in espn's '25 and younger' rankings.
Sad for a team with so many picks the last few years.
18. Cleveland Browns
Last year, we had the Browns ranked sixth mostly on the strength of CB Joe Haden, QB Colt McCoy, RB Peyton Hillis and C Alex Mack. Haden (23) appeared to have a down year in 2011 by shutdown-cornerback standards, but his 18 passes defensed alongside zero interceptions was a massive statistical anomaly. Mack also did his part, giving up only .5 blown blocks sacks on the year. Unfortunately, at 26 years old, he no longer qualifies for our rankings.
McCoy (25) and Hillis (26), however, regressed considerably, so the team drafted Brandon Weeden to unseat McCoy and Trent Richardson to replace Hillis, who signed with Kansas City. Our Lewin Career Forecast projects Weeden as the fifth-best quarterback prospect in this year's draft, but his age (28) and slow release are concerns. However, the 2012 draft also produced RT Mitchell Schwartz, who will step into the starting lineup immediately.

Posted July 16th, 2012 01:22 PM IP Wanna be sick? Look who is #1.
1. New England Patriots
Truth be told, our statistical analysis last year said the Patriots had the best 25-and-under talent in 2011, but we went with our gut instead. Lesson learned. New England had 15 significant contributors last season who qualify this season as well, but we really need only to discuss the three who helped produce the No. 3 offensive DVOA in the league. If you can believe it, tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez are still only 23 years old. Whether we look at standard or advanced stats, Gronkowski had a record-setting season: He was the first tight end ever to lead the NFL in receiving touchdowns, and also had the best receiving DYAR (defense-adjusted yards above replacement) for any tight end since 1991. To put the latter in perspective, the second-through-fourth-best tight end seasons were clustered at 357 or 358 DYAR; Gronkowski beat that by about 100 (459).
Of course, lest we forget Hernandez in New England's double-shot of matchup nightmares; he led all tight ends by breaking 21 tackles and he actually carried the ball 11 times in the team's final five games. Nate Solder (24) helped make huge tight end seasons possible by giving up only 2.5 blown-block sacks in his rookie year. With the retirement of Matt Light, Solder will switch from right tackle to left tackle, further increasing his value.
Finally, the Patriots added LB Dont'a Hightower (22) and DE Chandler Jones (22) in the draft, both of whom should contribute this season and in the future.
Times are good in New England.

Posted July 16th, 2012 05:28 PM IP I think this year with the improved offense our defense will be even better, not having to be on the field all game long. We should realistically be looking at a 12-4 or 13-3 season and AFC North title.

Posted July 16th, 2012 05:59 PM IP Isn't that usually what happens when you go with a rooklie qb? The offense gets better and the defense is on the field less. I mean after all the Browns are trading places with the 49ers and playing in the NFC west this season too, right?

We also have Trent Richardson and an improved line, therefore improving our run game immensely. That alone should be enough to get over the hump and get enough wins to compete for the division.

Posted July 16th, 2012 06:37 PM IP 12 or 13 wins seems a little high for a rookie QB and /suspect receivers.
I'm less worried about Richardson, I think he may actually have a good year.
You need to be pretty good or have a lot of things go right to get to 13 wins.
Squeezing 12 out of the Browns schedule seems like a minor miracle as it is.
However, if Richardson, Weeden and say someone like Little have breakthrough seasons, I think 12-13 could be possible next years.
but if Weeden is not what we hope, it would appear we wouldn't be even thinking about 12-13 wins for 5-6 years "If you respect me by not picking up the option, I'll show trust and loyalty to you by signing with you."-Carlos Boozer
