Posted March 8th, 2012 09:24 AM IP Ashland University's women begin NCAA tournament play at home on Friday Night at 6pm in Kates Gymnasium.
They are currently #2 in the nation and riding a 28 game winning streak after losing their first game of the season.
Pretty amazing season, by far the best in the area, not much chatter in the area about them though.

Posted March 8th, 2012 09:51 AM IP Yeah it just seems odd, because they have a legitimate chance to win the National Championship.
One of their player was selected Daktronic Midwest Region player of the year, GLIAC player of the year, and Conference Tournament player of the year. Kari Daugherty currently averages over 20 ppg and leads the nation in rebounding.
They have had 1,200+ fans at their last 10 games or so.

Posted March 21st, 2012 11:12 PM IP Comment above says there's not much chatter about these girls. I just turned on the second game of the day...NCAA D2 Womens Hoops Championships on CBS Sports Network. They have about 100 people total in the crowd. Going after a NC, and no crowd at all... There are as many participants and officials there as there are fans. Pretty sad really... Political Correctness - the belief that one can pick up a turd by the clean end.

They were hosting tournament games each round until the Elite 8 and sold out their gym for several of those near 3,000.
It is what it is, D2 women's hoops ... during the school year, can't expect people to be able to drop their things and go from Ashland, Ohio to San Antonio. I realize that too. I was just surprised to see the stands so empty for a national semifinal, EVEN D2 women. At a national level, no matter D1,2, or 3...it's a big deal. I would've at least expected a few hundred, but the stands were barren. It just seemed odd. Political Correctness - the belief that one can pick up a turd by the clean end.

Posted March 23rd, 2012 10:27 PM IP Shaw(NC) female monkeys beat the AU girls to win the D2 national championship.Call me prejudice, don't care, but those Shaw girls have about as much future as a ice cube in a bonfire.Every girl was a fully tatted overwieght thug. The blond haired blue eyed girls with 3.7 GPA's didn't have a chance in the long run.I by the way am not prejudice against colored people but I am against those like those Shaw(NC) girls and I'm proud of it.Trash.

Posted March 24th, 2012 07:52 AM IP Sorry to read the Eagles lost in the finals. Not so bad. There are many other teams who would love to be 2nd in the nation. Congrats to the AU Ladies.
I just checked Shaw's web site.
Sounds as if a couple of you might be interested in the fact that Shaw will be holding an open house beginning at 8:30 am on March 31st.
You can make your plans and be there in a week.
I have actually been by the "campus" a couple of times. Not hard to find.
Not far at all from the center of Raleigh.
