Posted March 28th, 2012 07:42 PM IP Spring practice started today. Always an exciting time for buckeye fans and hopefully there is good weather for the spring game.
The pictures are rolling in and the first thing you will notice is the change in body types. Pittman and Decker are HUGE for freshmen.
A lot of notes and such on twitter.

Posted March 28th, 2012 07:45 PM IP Top 3 WR were Smith, Spencer, and Fields.
Starting OL was Mewhort, Norwell, Linsley, Hall, and Fragel. Yep, that's right.

Can you post any of these pics you're talking about please? Take a nap at the ball game, catching up on some Z's. Buy me a five hour energy, take a nap with Hernandez and Ken Griffey. Snooze, snooze, snooze 'cause it's boring...if I wake up it is a shame. For it's 3, 4, 5 hours long at the old ball game.

Posted March 29th, 2012 10:11 PM IP Here are Twitter Notes I came across:
Sophomore LB Curtis Grant was the first team MLB in practice today. Meyer said Grant "has to be a player" or they're going to have problems
Junior LB Storm Klein was limited during practice and Connor Crowell was the #2 MLB most of the day
Other interesting change was WR Philly Brown running with the twos at slot receiver. Chris Fields was with the ones.
Devin Smith and Evan Spencer also ran with the ones. Smith had a pretty good day, but Spencer was dropping everything.
Meyer was not impressed with the skill position players on Day 1. Said he should be walking off saying "wow" about 2-3 guys, but wasn't.
Meyer also seemed concerned with the depth on the offensive line, but came away impressed with freshmen Taylor Decker and Jacoby Boren.
First team offensive line was LT Mewhort, LG Norwell, C Linsley, RG M.Hall and RT Fragel.
Brian Bobek also got some snaps at center with the ones, but Meyer said Linsley is the first-team center.
Along with Klein, Verlon Reed and Jamie Wood both limited in practice this spring. Nathan Williams and Zach Domicone are OUT
Second team O-line was LT D.Baldwin, LG C.Carter, C Bobek, RG A.Underwood, RT T.Brown.
Freshman Taylor Decker also got snaps at right tackle and Jacoby Boren took some snaps at center with the twos.
Meyer said the one thing he could tell today was that both Braxton Miller and Kenny Guiton can throw the ball.
Guiton actually had the better day throwing the ball, IMO. Showed good arm strength. Braxton too, but still inconsistent ball placement.
Freshman Cardale Jones is a BIG guy for a QB. Reminds me of Pryor, size-wise. Strong arm, really guns it, but pretty lost on day one.
First-team safeties on defense were CJ Barnett and Christian Bryant. Bryant to star in nickel and Orhian Johnson to safety.
Corey Brown also played safety and star on defense with the second group.
Meyer said the RBs has positive momentum right now. Was pleased with them today and feels pretty good abt them.
Jordan Hall took the most snaps with the first-team offense, followed by Rod Smith and then Carlos Hyde.
Coombs was like a drill sergeant out there. He was yelling at his players, but you could tell they respected him.
At one point Coombs was on Tyvis Powell, "This the big time now, you're at Ohio State. Play like it."
First-team D-Line was Simon, Hankins, Goebel and Bellamy. Saw Michael Bennett and Joel Hale jump in there a few times.
Second-team D-line was Bennett, Hale, Chase Farris and Steve Miller. Didn't see Se'Von Pittman get much action today.
All the QB's were wearing knee braces on their left knees today. Meyer said it's most vulnerable spot on a QB's body.

Great article on Braxton Miller and the new Ohio State offense. My favorite quote from Miller is when he says the days of 6 minute drives that end in FGs are gone! hahaha "Get Busy Livin....or get busy dying!"

Posted April 4th, 2012 11:07 AM IP Wow...what a mindset change they must be going through at OSU. And Woody??? I bet Woody is just rolling over in his grave to have a pass-happy offense at OSU. It kind of kills the idea of a conservative defensive game plan structured by General WW Hayes.

Posted April 4th, 2012 11:39 AM IP OSU's WR Corp is going to have to get a hell of alot better in a hurry if they intend to pass alot. The buckeye recievers are mediocre at best. I'd rather spend eternity in hell than spend five minutes in a heaven filled with people like vogel.

Posted April 4th, 2012 02:07 PM IP Just a stat I saw the other day...
Meyers 6 teams at Florida score more rushing touchdowns (185) and more passing touchdowns (154) than every school in the SEC.
I think Devin Smith and Evan Spencer will have big years for OSU at the WR position. As most of you probably already know the TE is a huge part of Meyers offense and OSU has some good ones so I expect them to play a huge role this season in the offense.

Posted April 4th, 2012 02:27 PM IP Also practice is open today for the media and I am sure there will be tons of pictures and updates on twitter following practice. This will be the first time the media has watched the team full go in pads so it should be interesting to see what they think.
I don't think Dunn will be full go today, he got banged up a little bit the other day but nothing too serious.

Great, but it still doesn't change the idea of a pass-happy offense with Mr. 3 yards and a cloud of dust.... Mr. "only three things happen when you pass and two of them aren't good..."
That's all I'm saying, that Woody was a run oriented coach who preferred to run the ball, and Urban is of a different time. Not that Urban can't admire the old man. He should, as Woody is a legend at OSU and he set the standard in his day. Urban, while already an ultra successful college FB coach, has to live up to Woody and Tress now in my mind, even if his team beat Tress head to head. He has some HUGE shoes to fill. Not worried about it, as he is at tOSU, and it is a football factory. Only that Woody is sitting at the right hand of God, and maybe not so sure that the wants to see all of that passing.... Political Correctness - the belief that one can pick up a turd by the clean end.

Posted April 6th, 2012 11:36 PM IP Urban Meyer runs a "pass-happy offense??? You HAVE NOT been paying attention. This is how Meyer describes his offense.
He says he considers his offense as I-formation power football, run from a set of unique formations. Sometimes with motion, sometimes faking a jet sweep, being creative and out numbering people, still running hard aggressive downhill football. With the veer option mixed in . Don't let the Shot Gun, one-back with wide outs/H-back fool you. He says he runs Jim Tressel football, inside and outside split zone blocking, off tackle running plays. Ball control football, don't put the defense in bad positions.
His passing philosophy? Compliment every running play with a pass play and viceversa.

Posted April 7th, 2012 11:35 AM IP Ohio State is going to have to pass the ball and pass it effectively to win more 6-7 games this year. Untill Miller proves that he can beat somebody through the air teams are going to stack the box and dare Miller to beat them through the air.
From what I saw out of Miller last year he's got a long long ways to go to become a competent passer. Having to start over from square one learning a new offense is not going to help. I'd rather spend eternity in hell than spend five minutes in a heaven filled with people like vogel.

Gee, thought you were describing Denard Robinson...... Government has no resources of its own.
Government can only give to us what it has previously taken from us.

Every time you post about Ohio State football you embarrass yourself. Stick to posting about something you know about, U of M stuff. Which very few on here care about, it's kinda like you're writing to yourself.
What did you "see out of Miller" in the last 2 games of his TRUE FRESHMAN year, against 2 ranked teams? Since you're unknowledgeable I will educate you.
TRUE FRESHMAN Braxton Miller completed 32 of 49 passes for 367 yards, 4 TD's and 1 INT. He did MORE than enough to win those games. Ohio State lost those games because of their defense. BTW, he only ran for 120 total yards in those games.
When Denard Robinson was a TRUE FRESHMAN he wasn't even good enough to start for a horrible Michigan team. He wasn't even good enough beat out Tate Forcier. TATE FORCIER???? Robinson did get some playing time when he was a TRUE FRESHMAN. He completed 45.2% of his passes for 2 TDs and 4 INTs.
As a TRUE FRESHMAN Miller had to learn a new offense. Learning a new offense this year will be MUCH easier than learning last year's offense. Meyer's Offense is very player friendly to learn. BTW Miller says Meyer's offense is a lot like the offense he ran for 4 years in high school.
Find something else to insult Braxton Miller about and in doing so, do a little research first. You won't look so bad. 13
