I thought this would be a good topic to start. Hopefully it doesn't get out of line!

Post the out-of-conferece schedules of the NOL schools beginning in 2011 (i.e., after Sandusky joins and after Fostoria, Galion, and Upper Sandusky join their new conferences). Verification/references would be nice.

Also, I guess it wouldn't hurt to suggest OOC opponents either.

According to HighSchoolSports.net (apparently the standard in high school schedule listings LOL):

*It looks as though Norwalk will have a home-and-away series with D-VI school Bedford St. Peter Chanel in 2011 and 2012.
( Link: http://www.highschoolsports.net/def...&ct=s&year=2011 )

*Also, Willard appears to have Bucyrus back on their 2011 and 2012 schedules.

Chanel isn't what they used to be but still should be able to handle Norwalk easily. Actually a Div VI school beating a Div II school is going to be like 1.5 wins in the computer point dept.

Willard playing Bucyrus?!?! Good Lord I hope Vogel doesn't catch wind of this. Perhaps its just one step closer to joining the NCC?

and exactly what will Norwalk have in 2 years that allows you to make the above statement? Seriously, can we at least give the kids a chance before you beat them down? Weeks 4/5 are gonna be tough to find games so I don't have a problem with Chanel. More interesting to me is the 2013 game...Western Reserve? I understand the attempt to lighten up the schedule a little bit (not saying I agree, just saying I understand)...but I'm not a fan of scheduling Western.

^^Norwalk needs to do what they can to improve before getting mad at outsiders for saying they haven't. Until they prove otherwise it's a safe and fair assumption they won't have much. This isn't about the kids in Norwalk to me but rather a group of adults that have made a decision to not do what is in the best interest of the student athletes in the District. Of course this is just one's opinion, more are welcome and right or wrong typically can't be determined by opinions although I have mine based on years of observation, that's all.
That's why I'm bbmind.

8-17 in the last 25 for RR. Coach Tressel is 8-1 vs. Michigan with two of the next three at home so will be no worse than 10-2 vs. them in his first 12 as he's never lost to them at home. More than likely 11-1 but for argument's sake a possible 10-2. Michigan fans and those that like them from Ohio can't like the turnaround we've put on them.

Why not, play them home and home and see how it goes. I think you will find Firelands Conference teams much more competitive with you than you assume. Norwalk Football is in no position to think they are too good to schedule anyone. They need to get Huron and Perkins off the schedule and play more teams similiar to them in size and where the program is at. If you can't find enough games that fit both of those criteria then you need to find the one that fits the 2nd one and I think they did that. Good on them, I won't comment too much further until I see the entire schedule for the coming years.

That's why I'm bbmind.

To see where Norwalk is at?? Haven't they only won 1 or 2 games in the past 3 years? I think its no secert as to where they're at....

I like the idea of scheduling smaller division teams to help get the winning attitude back (if it was ever there). But you have to schedule games you're capable of winning. They need to get some FC teams on the schedule. Playing Chanel isn't going to do much. I'd be shocked if they bring 50 fans to Norwalk also.

This is just the tip of the iceberg that is a 6 team league. Schools like Norwalk may not have a whole lot of choice in who they schedule in weeks 4 and 5. Those private schools are not what anybody needs. Who knows, maybe Chanel was the lesser of 2 evils (Div I private)

I wasn't saying they were "too good" to schedule anyone, just not sure what they have to gain by playing Western. If Norwalk wins, they did what they were supposed to do...and if they lose...well, then they lose. BBMind mentions a "group" of adults holding the program back...what group is that? There have been plenty of changes in the last year from top to bottom, why not see if they were the right changes before saying the kids have no chance to win a game 2 years down the road, that's all I'm saying. Maybe they finally got the right coach...maybe? Hopefully?

There is talk from the Maumee AD that TC and Maumee could be a week #1 game in 2011 as Whitmer is leaving the schedule.

Marion is also being added, looks like Fotown will take Fremonts place & I also heard Lima, not sure what the schools name is.

Doesn't surprise me as talk was the TCL would have 8 league games, and despite Ross-Columbian being a neighborhood rival over the years, it simply doesn't take the place of Findlay/Sandusky.

Remember Vogel wasn't happy when Bucyrus left the NOL, a sure win gone. Bucyrus would beat Willard with regularity now.

If by regularity, you mean 3 times since they left in 2002, then ya.
That's something to be proud of

That's a chin held high as the tears fall down
A gut sucked in, a chest stuck out
Like a small town flag a-flyin'
Like 3-5 vs Willard during that time if playin'

Thats a pretty bold statement. Chanel is down from where they were at the beginning of this decade. What say you? Only being state champs and runner-ups while producing Mr. Footballs. Chanel is a private school which means they can turn it around more quickly than lets say; Norwalk.

If Norwalk is going to schedule a Div VI private school why not just make it St. Paul. At least Norwalk will be winners in the gate department.

finding non-conference games for weeks 4 and 5 is gonna be tough for all of the NOL schools...you have to find teams that are independent or teams that play in a conference with less than 8 teams. Hopefully Norwalk can find another school to fill the open week. Any word on how the other NOL schools are doing in terms of scheduling?

^There was an article on the Reflector's website that mentioned Norwalk and Chanel. The article also mentioned Shelby picking up Bryan.....way out in the northwest corner of the state....

If this is correct, I see them beating Ontario out of those schools above. JMO

It could very well just be a scrimmage or just a preliminary listing (since the dates are kind of odd), but Keystone appears to be on Norwalk's schedule for the 2011/2012 and 2012/2013 seasons......

I think it's a game...Keystone and Western being added with Huron and Perkns being dropped. Picked up Chanel to replace one of the lost NOL games and still trying to find another opponent for the other lost NOL game. Certainly going to be interesting for the remaining NOL schools with everybody probably playing some new opponents in the coming years.

Norwalk could pick up Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas in Week 5 for 2011 and 2012. St. Thomas is also looking for a Week 5 opponent. A 1974 rematch game.
