LOL, if anyone is on scout, then Vogel reminds me of cdiddy...not because of his arguments or how he presents himself, but just the reaction he gets out of everyone.

EDIT:Not agreeing with him at all just laughing at the reaction he has got out of everyone.

1985 Galion
73-0 over Bucyrus
67-12 over Upper Sandusky
58-7 over Norwalk
^^^ That's how you take care of jokes

Not 34-27
Not 33-16
Not 28-14

And then beating 3-7 teams
14-7
34-20

Sorry Fillmore, but I know what great teams do and what teams that have little shot at winning a State Title do. There's a reason Galion has a 72 rating this year and not in the 90's. They are not a State Caliber team, huff and puff all you want, those are the facts. They are who we all think they are. A nice solid team, but not a team that will challenge for a State Title. A team that is a favorite to win in round 1 of the playoffs, but not a team that has much of a shot at winning the Region.

Live in reality. Stop trying to completely over hype a team.

Maybe you can start the (8-0) Iowa - greatest team ever campaign.[quote]

You're not the only person in the world that knows what "great" teams do. You only know what YOUR "great"' team did. BTW, did your "great" team have a shot at a State Title? I only know what my "great' team did. The difference is you pretend to know what ALL "great" teams do.

By "do" I mean how they go about their business of being "great". You say you laughed at opponents, you put down opponents, you say opponents are jokes. My team didn't go about their business like that.

I'm not huffing and puffing about Galion, I'm huffing about the puffer.

I DARE you to show us where I said Galion was a "State Caliber team". I DARE you to show us where I said "Galion would challenge for a State Title." I DARE you to show us where I've "completely over hyped a team."

Iowa?? You're an ignoramus.

By the way who did ONTARIO play back then on your great team? Lucas? Riverdale? Buckeye Central?

All you've told us so far is Willard. You won't mention anyone else. you won't even tell us what year. 70% chance Willard was a joke. I'm guessing Willard was (2-8) that year. Sad that you only put 32 on them.

1999 Willard was unlucky and we had to play 3 jokes like that. Instead of playing a REAL team, we had to play 3 utter jokes

Well we won:
(55-0) vs the first one (Edison)
(56-6) vs the 2nd one (Galion)
(48-0) vs the 3rd one (Bucyrus) - As I said it was 35-0 with 9 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, JV's got to play in the 1st half

Upper went (4-6) that year. Fillmore would probably tell us how great they were. Top tier team. Well we just beat them (47-0). Their RB led the NOL in rushing, he had 17 yards after 3 quarters. He tried to talk trash to us after picking up a 2 yard gain one time. We all laughed and told him to go back to his huddle. (Obviously he knew we were that good, he thought picking up 2 yards was worth talking some smack)

STATE CALIBER TEAMS LAUGH when they go up against (5-5) or worse NOL teams. Those teams are jokes to them. Your only goal in those games is to see how bad you can beat them in the 1st half, because you know the coaches are going to yank you for the JV's and the start of the 2nd half.

Vogel is the court jester.

Didn't play any of those teams, proving your lack of knowledge. You ignorantly continually want to compare the BIG NOL to leagues with much smaller schools, a superiority complex. I DARE you to show us where I have ever disparaged the NOL by comparing them to a much larger school league.
.
DO NOT LIE. I DARE you to show us where I have ever said a 4-6 team is "great".

DO NOT LIE. I DARE you to show us where I have ever said a team was "top tier".

No I wasn't All-Ohio (both my older brothers were, I wasn't). I played on one leg, I was lucky to even get All-League.

Do Galion fans want to know their REAL Chances at winning State, or do they want to COMPLAIN every time I let them know where they REALLY STAND.

Are we going to get more posts that go, "How dare you not show 2009 Galion being as good as 2001 Bellevue, or 1985 Galion. You are just jealous and your formula sucks."

How 2009 Galion stands to some past teams

1985
96.905 - (14-0) - Galion - D-II State Champs
95.251 - (11-2) - Mooney - D-II State Runner-Up
^^^ I had to do some tweaking. My rankings are set up for 6 divisions and they used 5 divisions back then. So some of the small D-2 schools I put in D-3 (where they would have been in a 6 division format). I did leave all playoff games by those two teams vs D-2 schools.

1999
97.614 - (15-0) - Perkins - D-IV State Champs
94.618 - (13-2) - Watterson - D-III State-Runner Up (lost to the D-2 and D-3 State Champs)

1999 NOL
90.092 - (10-2) - Willard
86.131 - (9-2) - Bellevue
84.354 - (8-2) - Tiffin Columbian
72.234 - (7-4) - Shelby
59.545 - (4-6) - Upper Sandusky
53.867 - (3-7) - Norwalk
44.667 - (1-9) - Bucyrus
43.894 - (2-8) - Galion

2009 NOL
72.684 - (10-0) - Galion
71.243 - (7-3) - Tiffin Columbian
56.127 - (5-5) - Shelby
55.334 - (5-5) - Bellevue
52.602 - (3-7) - Fostoria
51.650 - (3-7) - Willard
47.430 - (2-8) - Upper Sandusky
42.910 - (1-9) - Norwalk

^^^ How to read those #'s. There is about a +/- 3 pt margin of error. So 1999 Willard could be as low as an 87 and 1999 Bellevue as high as 89.

People get too caught up in EXACT ratings. (We are a 72 now and not a 68, we are so much better). It's better to look at the ratings as low 40's or high 40's. Low 80's or high 80's. 86 and 88 is a wash (who cares) 88 vs 78 tells a different story. Pretty high chance that the 88 team is better than the 78 team.

1 pt favorite has a 54% chance of winning
5 pt favorite has a 65% chance of winning
10 pt favorite has a 77% chance of winning
20 pt favorite has a 94% chance of winning
30 pt favorite has a 99% chance of winning

So if you are a 90 rated team and you play a 60 rated team. The outcome is obvious. When you are a 70 rated team and play a 60 rated team. The outcome is not so obvious (77 out of 100 you'd win though)

Galion is a 1 point favorite vs Eastwood. My rankings say 54 out of 100 times Galion would win, 46 out of 100 times Eastwood would win.

(If Galion can stop Eastwood's ground game like Genoa and Patrick Henry did, then I would not be surprised if Galion won by 20).
But if Galion struggles to stop the run it could be a long night for Galion.

2009 Galion is a 18 point underdog to 1999 Willard
8 out of 100 times 2009 Galion would beat 1999 Willard
92 out of 100 times 1999 Willard would beat 2009 Galion

1985 Galion is a 7 point favorite vs 1999 Willard
70 out of 100 times 1985 Galion would beat 1999 Willard
30 out of 100 times 1999 Willard would beat 2009 Galion

1985 Galion is a 24 pt favorite vs 2009 Galion
97 out of 100 times 1985 Galion would beat 2009 Galion
3 out of 100 times 2009 Galion would beat 1985 Galion

Don't understand why everyone gets so MAD when I post these stats. Seems like they get mad b/c they think 2009 is a juggernaut on par with all the State Championship caliber teams of the past. All I can say is open your eyes. Solid team, yes. Most teams in the 70's MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. That means you were solid. There's a big difference though between a team in the 90's and a team in the low 70's. It's why we regularly see those teams in the 90's win round 1 games by 5+ TD's.

Then why do you go boo hoo when I say 2009 Galion would have finished 4th in the NOL last year?

^^^ Think about that one. It's because you think 2009 Galion is BETTER THAN THAT. If they are then they are a JUGGERNAUT. They are rated as a low level playoff team. (Which would put them 4th in the NOL in 2008). So you are saying they are better than a low level playoff team. Then I guess they are a juggernaut. Watch out Genoa.

Everybody knows the only true juggernaut was the 1999 WILLARD FLASHES! They tied Sandusky Perkins in a scrimmage! They had the best 7 on 7 team in Ohio HS football history!

1999 Willard was the best ever! How dare any of you suggest that past teams could compete with 1999 Willard.

Galion people don't even try to compare the 14-0 STATE CHAMPION Galion Tigers with the 1999 Willard Flashes. The Flashes may have been co-champs in their own league but all teams in Ohio were the better in 1999. The Vogel rankings prove it!

The 1979 Norwalk State Champions could not compete with the 1999 NOL Co-Champion Willard Flashes either!

None of the MANY championship teams from Tiffin or Bellevue could compete with the 1999 NOL Co-Champion Willard Flashes!

None of the Undefeated Shelby Whippet teams of the 60's could beat the 1999 NOL co-champion Willard Flashes!

Galion fans just use the FALSE comments that Vogel accuses us of saying and apply them to the great 1999 NOL co-champion Willard Flashes. It doesn't matter if you really say things or not on NOSF because you can be quoted for things you never said. In fact, you can quote an entire community for comments that were NEVER made! We need a thread for the 1999 NOL co-champion Willard Flashes!!!!

Like I've been saying. Keep ignoring Reality.

I lay out some solid information to base how good a team is. Galion folks just ignore it and say I'm only doing it to bash 2009 Galion.

I said you guys would finish 4th in 2008
^^^^ I get HAMMERED from you homers about how YOU ARE BETTER THAN THAT.

^^^ That would mean your rating is in the upper 80's.
With your new rating in the upper 80's you are now 18 point favorites vs Eastwood. I and Cal Preps intentionally set up our formula's years ago just to make 2009 Galion look worse rating wise than they really are. And not by a few points but by a lot of points.

Seriously, unbiased computers like Cal Preps and the Vogel Rankings are just out to make 2009 Galion not look like a juggernaut. Galion really is a juggernaut it's those bogus computers designed solely to make 2009 Galion look weaker than past Champions.

Vag.... The point we are ALL trying to make is we don't care how Galion would have faired last year or the year prior, or in 99. Who cares. That's the point. Why can't you see we simply don't care.

We are enjoying our season - going from bottom dwellars to winning all 10 games. Doesn't matter who we played. Doesn't matter how the league was... we finished on top when in most seasons past we wouldn't have won squat.

So the reason you are getting venom from Galion is because why would you stoop to the level of the posts you've made when Galion fans are just as logical and smart about football as you are - we know this isn't a state caliber team. They aren't favored to win State. They aren't favored to beat Genoa. But ya know what..... what if they did? Just what if they freakin did? You got balls enough to try and squash that little bit of hope from a town who's lost about everything in it the last 10 years?

That's why you get the venom and no respect dude.

I'd say it's time to just shut up about it and move on.

Vogel is a self-proclaimed expert on football rankings using some sort of spreadsheet application. He likes to throw out the numbers and this gets the fans upset. His arguments are usually poorly made (except his numbers appear reasonable - I am not sure what sort of formula he uses) and he (like many others on these threads) has difficulty with reasoning and discussion while the fingers are attached to a keyboard.
