So far, the Tigers have "found a way" every game with the exception of two. Last night because they finally clicked on offense and against Colonel Crawford because they pitched a shutout.

Scarlet... nice picture! That #47 looks like a man amongst boys.

What's the scoop on Eastwood? Looking at their schedule they've beaten a lot of 0-10 teams it appears. The only real team they faced (Genoa) - they got clobbered.

is #47 that huge kid who plays basketball? I remember a really tall kid on Eastwood's team when they beat Bellevue in the sectional final last year

I've lightly followed some teams from up north this year here's the best I can diagnose Eastwood's schedule:

8/28 H Clyde (6-4) W 32-21 - Good win, but Clyde started slow at 0-3
9/4 A Rossford (0-10) W 72-0 - Nobody
9/11 H Oak Harbor (4-6) W 41-14 - Solid win against a strange OH team that lost to P Clinton but actually beat Clyde
9/18 A Otsego (0-10) W 45-6 - Nobody
9/25 H Woodmore (4-6) W 76-34 - ?
10/2 A Genoa Area (10-0) L 11-54 - Machine
10/9 H Lake (7-3) W 9-7 - Solid win
10/16 A Elmwood (3-7) W 48-0 - Nobody
10/23 H Patrick Henry (10-0) L 0-35 - Machine
10/30 A Gibsonburg (3-7) W 34-6 - Nobody

So they've played 2 good teams and 2 elite teams. Beat the good teams and got smashed by the elite.

Galion is a 1 pt favorite vs Eastwood according to the Vogel Rankings.

Both Galion and Eastwood are low 70 rating teams.

Eastwood is right there with Galion and TC this year. This should either be Galion's toughest game so far or 2nd toughest game behind TC.

Well here's some scoop on the region and how others outside of the NOL perceive it! I will give credit to the source only as another forum. It is not my own stats!

Genoa
8/28 A Rossford (0-10) [4:14] W 60-0
9/4 A Oak Harbor (4-6) [3:10] W 51-0
9/11 A Port Clinton (4-6) [4:14] W 62-7
9/18 H Woodmore (4-6) [5:18] W 55-0
9/25 A Northwood (7-3) [5:18] W 48-6
10/2 H Eastwood (8-2) [4:14] W 54-11
10/9 H Gibsonburg (3-7) [5:18] W 47-0
10/16 A Lake (7-3) [4:14] W 49-0
10/23 A Otsego (0-10) [4:14] W 51-0
10/30 H Elmwood (3-7) [5:18] W 60-0

Opponents Total Record: 40-60 (0 D2's, 1 D3's, 5 D4's, 4 D5's)

Orrville
8/28 H Northwest (7-3) [3:11] L 14-40
9/4 A Triway (8-2) [4:14] L 14-28
9/11 H Copley (6-4) [2:5] W 32-13
9/18 H Lexington (6-4) [2:6] W 41-21
9/25 A Mansfield (4-6) [2:6] W 32-3
10/2 A West Holmes (2-8) [3:11] W 42-0
10/9 H Ashland (9-1) [2:5] L 13-14
10/16 A Madison Comprehensive (1-9) [2:6] W 41-24
10/23 A Clear Fork (7-3) [4:14] W 32-21
10/30 H Wooster (5-5) [2:5] W 15-7

Opponents Total Record: 55-45 (6 D2's, 2 D3's, 2 D4's, 0 D5's)

***This does support my posts last week in that Genoa hasn't played anyone! Nada! They run the wing T, have a good offense and a great defense... but have not been tested once. I would think Orrville will be a legit test.

(Another post from other forum)

Just for fun, I added up the combined records of each team's opponents. I also calculated the average opponents division. Finally, I divided the opponents wins, by average division size to give a true strength of schedule comparison.

School: Opp Rec. Avg. Size Strength Factor

Orrville 55-45 2.6 21.15
Clear Fork 52-48 2.8 18.57
Ott. Gland 43-57 3.3 13.03
Triway 46-54 3.7 12.43
Galion 42-58 3.6 11.66
Edison 45-55 4 11.25
Eastwood 47-53 4.2 11.19
Genoa 40-60 4.3 9.3

So we'll see how the Vag rankings fair throughout the playoffs. I don't think Genoa is as good as Vag thinks they are. Neither does the majority of the state outside of NOSF!

I disagree. Vag Rankings are wrong! The top 3 teams in the NOL would beat Eastwood this year.

Galion, Tiffin, Bellevue would win by 2 TD's.

The middle of the pack teams: Willard, Shelby would be 3 point favorites.

Upper Sandusky would be a coin toss.

Vogel Rankings for round 1 of Region 14

Galion over Eastwood by 1
Genoa over Edison by 25
Orrville over CF by 2
Don't have Triway or O-G ranked

Giff is sounding like the Fostoria fans last year.

"We'll crush Genoa. Who have they played. We are mighty Fostoria. They are Genoa, they play Woodmore. We'll crush them."

2008 Vogel Rankings
95.018 - Genoa
87.581 - Fostoria

Genoa as a 7.5 pt favorite that won by 14

Guess 2009 Galion is greater than 2008 Fostoria. Genoa's just as good this year as last year. But Gifferoo thinks Genoa is a joke and his Galion boys will clobber them.

No - your stupid *** just makes things up. Giff never once said Galion would beat Genoa. All I've said is that Orrville should be a legit test for them. Guarantee it will be their first test of the year! Win or lose.

Dude go take your meds and then get off your horse about everyone saying galion is great and this and that about years past. Fact is that Willard with all their greatness has never won a state championship and lost every year in the playoffs. So that means they sucked right Vag! Per your theory?

Dude how do you even get that I said Eastwood was better than Genoa? How do you get that I Said Galion was better than Genoa?

Let me spell this out easily for you.

1. Genoa hasn't played anyone!
2. Their first real test will be Orrville!
3. Galion will win their first game, maybe second..
4. No one is saying Galion will beat Genoa. No one.

Is that simple enough for you? Take your meds yet?

After week 11 will Galion have played anyone?

According to you Galion's week 11 opponent is no one. Then I'll expect a 54-11 beat down of that nobody.

Eastwoood run the wing-t.
Closest comparison to a team Galion played is Bucyrus minus their quarterback. Eastwood throws the ball about 5 times a game, quarterback is not very good. They have a nice fullback and tailback, and a 6'6 defensive end that causes problems.
Galion 35-21.

That might be a bad thing for Galion. I've seen Galion get pushed around against the run twice in person. The difference plays in Galion's defense have been INT's.

Galion's offense has the ability to outscore teams, but my worry for Galion is getting worn down by the run from a team that specializes in it.

Galion's latest success on defense has because of caused turnovers. They had 3 against Fostoria, 3 against Willard and 4 against Bellevue. They also havent turned the ball over in 3 straight games...If Galion causes a couple turnovers then they will win this game.

fwiw, only 2 of the turnovers in the Bellevue game were caused by Galion (unless you want to give Galion credit for a bad Bellevue snap and the wind knocking down a punt into a blocker)

Yeah it was a bad snap and a botched punt.

They ripped away a run fumble which was legit and the interception of Watson was a heck of a catch by Galion's DB.

If eastwood hangs onto the ball with a power running game Galion could have some trouble.

I like the fact they have a 6'6 defensive end. Good luck chasing down Brooks and Williams! :-)

Galion will be fine. For not playing anyone this season, I think we'll show up and represent the NOL just fine. Even though the NOL sucks this year. *

Actually they have played some good teams this year..

Ask Bellevue how good Tiffin was this year! Bucyrus was a good team as well. I'll give Bellevue and Shelby their props... good teams. Great? No. But good. Better than MOST of the teams that Genoa or Eastwood have played.

Already posted strength of schedule above. Look past your Vag rankings and you'll see what the rest of Ohio sees.

I've said since preseason that our weakness was our secondary. Bellevue is the ONLY team we played this year that truly tested our secondary. We were able to get some fortunate turnovers both earned and unearned.

The point... we've played 9 teams who predominately ran the ball against us and we found ways to stop them. I would much rather play a running team than a passing team with the players we have. The fact that our offense is finally starting to fire on all cylinders presents more problems for the opponents we're going to be facing. As long as our defense bends but doesn't break like it has all year we will be fine Saturday.

Go Tigers!!!!!!!!!!!!!
