Saw Clear fork against Shelby tonight. It was a mix of Shelby being better than I thought and Clear Fork being worse than I thought.

If the wildly rocky stock market was looking for a big batch of points Friday, it needed to look no further than Community Stadium.
In their final full-tilt scrimmage tuneup before opening night next week, the Ashland and Brunswick high school offenses traded blow for blow.
Featuring likely regular-season starters in the first half and one drive apiece in the second, the two teams combined for 63 points in two 12-minute quarters that took more than 80 minutes of real time to get through. By the time the first-team groups took a knee for the night, Brunswick held the edge, 35-28.
Ashland's newest starting quarterback, 6-foot-3 senior Zach Bernhard, showed plenty of promise operating from the Arrows spread offense, finishing with passing totals of roughly 21 of 40 for 344 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.
"I think he made some strides today," AHS coach Scott Valentine said of Bernhard, who also mixed in on some tackles at linebacker. "There were opportunities and he made some good decisions there. Like with anything, it's about us making sure that, consistency-wise, we keep the ball moving."
Not to be forgotten, drawing loud applause throughout the first half was playmaking AHS senior wide receiver Marquise Jones, who hauled in a pair of one-handed grabs -- the first going for a 16-yard touchdown on which he snagged the ball and sprawled away from an ankle-tackle for the score.
Jones finished with eight catches for roughly 135 yards and two receiving TDs, also showing plenty of eye-opening potential running the ball while spinning out of multiple tackles and changing direction out of the in-motion position utilized last year by standout Michael Bixler.
"We're expecting him to be one of our guys that can go make plays," Valentine said of Jones, who the coach said sat out the team's first scrimmage at North Canton. "I was happy to see him go out and perform and have a good night. Hopefully we can build on that from here."
Bernhard hit Josh Duewel for a 12-yard touchdown strike just before halftime and ran for a 1-yard score on Ashland's second drive, showing solid speed and aggressiveness when he tucked the ball and ran. The offense was hurt by an early outbreak of dropped passes from the sturdy, right-handed QB, but had multiple good moments, including field-shrinking hookups of 30 and 35 yards between Bernhard and speedster Kozmo Krueger.
But after the Arrows led 21-14 at one point, the AHS defense allowed the game's next 21 points, giving up scores to Brunswick on five of its first seven drives.
Blue Devils junior quarterback Dan Yohman threw for nearly 200 yards on 9-of-16 passing -- including a 76-yard strike in the first quarter -- and Brunswick junior running back Nick Roberts was a bruising rumbler, scoring a pair of rushing TDs.
BHS coaches said both Yohman and Roberts got solid varsity minutes last year, when the Blue Devils finished 5-5 against 10 Division I opponents.
"They had some playmakers," Valentine said. "For us, there were some opportunities to get some stops on third down. Those are the stops you've got to get ... and we let them off the hook a little bit.
"That's something we've got to get better at, and some of that comes with game planning and situations and knowing what teams do."
Ashland's defense showed clear leadership from senior lineman Adam Wolbert and junior linebacker Willie Moore, who both laid down big hits, but the AHS unit was hit or miss for much of the first 24 minutes.
"I think one of the things that we're going to have to find out is, when we're in adversity, how are we going to handle those situations?" Valentine said. "At times I think we handled them, and at times we didn't, so we've got to be consistent."
Ashland kicker Greg Gallaway converted on all four of his PAT kicks; Krueger and Jacob Allton had interceptions with the backup defensive units; and backup quarterback Tyson Vogel flashed some promise, including a few lengthy runs.
The Arrows now open the 2011 season with road games at Wadsworth and Dover before returning home in Week 3 against Sandusky.
"I was happy with the way we hit," Valentine said. "I thought we were aggressive and I think we're running to the ball and I saw some improvement. We've just got to take another jump as we go into game week."
