Posted August 14th, 2010 07:08 PM IP Don't know how good VanWert is but Upper played them today and won 7-2.Upper has about 7 seniors returning so maybe for once they might have a a good year.Wood scored 2 goals and Snow scored 2 or 3.Upper has a new coach who seems to be more about offense instead of defense unlike the old coach.I hope we just have at least a .500 season.Snow came up from JV and Wood has been moved from defender to I think midfield. The changes the coach has made seem to be working right now but will see how it plays out.

Posted August 23rd, 2010 10:09 PM IP If Norwalk is to get back to the level they were (20 straight years w/a winning record, 10 straight 10 wins plus) prior to last season, it starts tommorrow.
I don't care that Edison was .500 last year or that they have some kids coming back. It's Edison and if Norwalk wants to be Norwalk it starts NOW.
Norwalk dropped Edison 4-5 years ago because it was not competitive and if they want to bring back the swagger they HAVE to win tommorrow....

Posted September 7th, 2010 08:02 AM IP Ram Tuff...where does the issue come from in your opinion? Havent been around the program in a few years but before that I was there watching for 4 years. Kids not caring could be the issue but watching the little kids soccer as well I notice the coaching lacks fundamentals and I noticed that in high school as well. The boys have been doing much better so the "little kids league" excuse kind of doesnt work. Just curious as to your opinion.

Posted September 7th, 2010 04:34 PM IP The boys must have a coach who has knowledge of the game and can teach them something unlike the girls.I never said anything about the "little kids league" but I really think it's a joke.Maybe if Upper would hire a coach that qualified for the job the girls would do better.Right now I don't even think they know the basics or if they do they are not showing it.I really think this school system gives girls sports the short end of the stick but that probably happens everywhere.Anyway I will still support boys and girls and hope they do well.Hope the boys can keep it going and the girls can get something started to help confidence.Maybe it will start today against St.Petes.

Posted September 7th, 2010 09:29 PM IP Sorry...I was the one who said the little kids league myself. Meant nothing towards you about that part. I dont know what the issue is either but I agree the basics at the high school level are lacking thus I guess some or most of the blame can fall on the coaches. Not sure all of it falls on current coach as this is her first year with the varsity but I tend to believe not much will change either. Kids deserve blame as well.

Posted October 3rd, 2010 03:54 PM IP Ontario girls team lost their 1st match of the year to Clear Fork 2-0.
Ontario boys and Norwalk tie 0-0. Ontario's best player breaks his ankle.
For parents who don't let their son's play football and they play soccer. Statistically their are more broken legs and ankles, as well as more knee injuries in soccer than in football. 13

Watched NHS lose to CF last week in the OSHAA tournament. Wow how the mighty has fallen. They will improve next year and are very young but there is a lot of areas improvement is needed. First and foremost put your athletes in the mid field and back. There was no connection between D and O "pass" the ball don't just kick it.
I could go on but I doubt anybody cares or is reading....

Posted October 31st, 2010 02:10 PM IP Ontario beats Clear Fork in the District Semi-Finals 5-3. Clear Fork had only given up 9 goals on the season before this contest. Ontario's second leading scorer Erica Uselton left the game early in the 2nd half with a foot injury, when the score was tied 1-1. Her replacement Freshman McKenna Papst scored 3 goals in an 8 minute span to give Ontario an insurmountable 4-1 lead.
Ontario moves on to play Miller City in the District Finals. Miller City had to beat the #1 and #2 Seed to get to the District Finals.

Cly,
There's no shame in losing to Clear Fork. They won the OCC, a good girls soccer league and played one of the more difficult schedules in this part of the state. They beat Ontario 2-0 earlier in the year. They were 16-2-1 and had only given up 9 goals in 19 before losing to Ontario.

Posted November 5th, 2010 08:57 PM IP Ontario girls advance to the DII Elite Eight with a 3-2 Regional Semi-final win over Wausean. After 2 scoreless overtime periods, Freshman McKenna Papst scored the winning penalty kick in the 2nd sudden death shootout. The 18-1-1 Warriors face the 15-2-4 Cuyahoga Valley Chriastin Academy for a trip to the State Finals. 13

Posted November 7th, 2010 01:46 PM IP Ontario Girls Soccer team advances to the State Final Four with a 2-0 shutout of CVCA. Freshman McKenna Papst added to her amazing end of the year heroics. She broke a 0-0 tie with 35 seconds remaining in the first half by sneaking in a shot that careened off the right goal post, past the goalie, into the net. The assist went to Junior Amanda Fowler, First Team All-Ohio last year as a Spohomore, who has willingly taken a back seat to Ontario's amazing Freshman.
Ontario playing good defense in the 2nd half kept the 1-0 lead until 48 seconds remained in the match, when Fowler scored on a corner kick from Papst.
Papst had some medical issues the first half of the season. Since mid-season, when she started playing, Ontario's game has risen to another level. Ontario should have TWO All-Ohio players this year.
Ontario 19-1-1 will play 12-9-1 Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown in the DII State Semi-Finals on Wednesday. Hathaway Brown was DII State Champions last year, but had to forfeit the Title due to using an illegible player. Hathaway Brown has won 2 other State Soccer Titles. Cincinnati Madeira and Cincinnati Indian Hills, both undefeated and ranked #1 and #2, will meet in the other Semi Final match.

Posted November 13th, 2010 05:30 PM IP Ontario girls lose to Hathaway Brown in the State Semi-Finals 4-1. Hathaway Brown scored just before halftime to take a 2-0 lead, which was the game with as well as their defense was playing. Don't let their 12-9-1 record fool you. They play all DI schools and have made it to the Final Four 5 times this decade. 13
