The OCC will be realigning (according to reports) by adding Galion and Ontario and dropping Orrville, West Holmes, and Wooster. The "new" Ohio Cardinal Conference will be a 7-team league with the following members: Mansfield Sr., Mansfield Madison, Lexington, Ashland, Clear Fork, Ontario, and Galion beginning 2013-2014 season. Athletic Directors and some coaches already met this week and it appears to be highly likely this "new" league will form.

Galion will jump out of this league quicker than the NCC dropped them. Don't think Galion will play a single game in this league.

I hope Shelby jumps on board with this. I've talked to a few Shelby middle school parents that are not happy with the long Sandusky trips on school nights. Then add Vermillion in there in another year.....Oooooo

Boys Enrollment
470 - Ashland
435 - Mansfield Sr
390 - Madison
328 - Lexington
224 - Clear Fork
215 - Galion
201 - Ontario

If Galion thought they were too small for the NOL then...

And Ontario basketball is in for a lot of L's
2011-12 - 0-2 vs the OCC with 1 game left - but 4-3 in the NCC
2010-11 - 0-3 vs OCC but 12-2 in the NCC
2009-10 - 1-2 vs OCC but 13-1 in the NCC

^^^ And Ontario has not been playing the top OCC team named Mansfield Sr

Don't worry the parents you talked to probably have kids that will not be playing in High School.

Fortunately, a lot of people don't listen to what you think.

Galion left the NOL due to driving distance = fact.

Galion got screwed by 6 schools who decided to leave the NCC and they never even offered a clue as to exactly "WHY" = fact.

There is absolutely no rational reason to believe that Galion will want to leave a league that they just joined.....none whatsoever = fact.....unlike some other schools in the area (see above).

Nobody, not even you, can predict what will happen if/when Galion joins this league = fact.

Another fact =

Schizophrenia (/ˌskɪtsɵˈfrɛniə/ or /ˌskɪtsɵˈfriːniə/) is a mental disorder characterized by a breakdown of thought processes and by poor emotional responsiveness.

[1] It most commonly manifests itself as auditory hallucinations, paranoid or bizarre delusions, or disorganized speech and thinking, and it is accompanied by significant social or occupational dysfunction. The onset of symptoms typically occurs in young adulthood, with a global lifetime prevalence of about 0.3–0.7%.

[2] Diagnosis is based on observed behavior and the patient's reported experiences.

...............no offense!

Yep, Galion left for travel reasons Talk about delusional.

Galion left because they got trounced in the NOL for 65 years, couldn't take it anymore and ran off to play Lucas and Crestline.

Travel was a non-issue for 60+ years, it only became an issue when Galion needed a bogus excuse for why it tucked it's tail to take on Lucas.

Hey, know-it-all..........when was the last school board meeting that you attended in Galion? When was the last article that you read in the Galion paper that specifically stated the reason(s) as to why Galion left the NOL?

Come on, dude...............I live here. I read the local paper. I listen at school board meetings.

JEEZ! DUH!!!!!!!

DELUSIONAL!!!

Then TRAVEL would not be a problem. My cousin just went D-I in baseball and he was on travel teams. They travel all over.

Shelby to Sandusky is nothing compared to travel baseball. You are a load of laughs.

Yep, and the reason Willard fired Chris Hawkins was because Shirt-tails were untucked. That's what the BOE said and the paper said.

Your school left because they were perennial losers in the NOL.

Did you miss the near 50 straight NOL football games your school lost? The only games they could win in that time span were vs Bucyrus and Colonel Crawford. Two teams along with Lucas and Crestline that they ran off to play.

Galion invited to the MOAC yesterday. I believe East Knox also invited.
Galion to the OCC or MOAC? My guess is MOAC.
Does anybody know if orrville is leaving the OCC?

Travel time and cost was quoted as the primary factor in both Upper and Galion for leaving the NOL. I also believe that I will be winning the lottery this weekend.

Not one board member or administrator in either Galion or Upper will ever come out and say that the reason they bailed on the NOL was the disparity in enrollment or inability to be competitive, even if the inability was based on the disparity or not. Cost...cost is a single factor in a bad economy which can justify leaving a league in which both schools were founding members, with tradition and history as well. A league in which grandparents, parents and their children all grew up and competed in. As a former Upper graduate, it angered me to see Upper walk away from that history, but they did it for their own reasons. It will historically show as both schools left for economical reasons, but as a reasonably intelligent adult, I also can read between the lines, as well as most of you can.

This being said, Upper in the MOAC will now enjoy almost the same travel distances as they had in the NOL, but I do expect they will be more competitive without having to wait so long between super athletic classes to win more than one or two games in a football season. If Galion does go to the OCC and sees the same enrollment disparity as noted above, I would expect they will be hoeing another long row as they did in the NOL. For their sake, I hope not.

On the plus side, both schools saved some money for two years in the NCC.

This would be Galion's best move, IMO. Economically and competitively speaking.

Too bad there isn't another "small school" floating around to make this a small/big division league (if it would ever come to pass)....Personnally, if Ashland would drop and Willard and Shelby join, this would be just IMO an ideal league

Competively - yes economically - no
Shorter rides to Mansfield area schools and much bigger gates with Mansfield area schools.
More media coverage and District awards for kids would be hard when you are playing most of your games out of the district.
