Posted January 3rd, 2011 12:55 PM IP With the season in full tilt and everything settling in at the places who have new coaches, where do we see the MAL at this point?
Seneca East isn't having the start they had hoped, SJCC has injuries all over, and some of the teams at the bottom are just downright poor. The grade card from this outsider looks like this:
1. Calvert
2. Carey
3. New Riegel
4. Seneca East (Not saying much from here on down!)
5. SJCC
6. Old Fort
7. Mohawk
8. North Baltimore
9. Hopewell Loudon
10. Bettsville
11. St. Wendelin
12. Lakota

Posted January 6th, 2011 12:56 PM IP For the most part I agree, I would put Carey over Calvert just because of schedule strength so far but they will settle it on the court when they play. Carey's length may hurt Calvert. SE playing better than NR right now but that could go either way. Reardon does not have much help at SJCC. Lakota on bottom but 6-11 depend on the day. Carey and Calvert will be the only ones to see district play this year.

Posted January 6th, 2011 11:26 PM IP I wanted to wait till after Tuesday's games before I responded. Here's my ranking. Very close to yours, just a few tweaks. I will say that I think anyone 1-4 can easily beat the others. And I would say that 1-7 could do it on a good night. Nobody is dominant enough to just show up and win.
1. Carey
2. Calvert
3. New Riegel
4. Seneca East
5 .SJCC - Right NOW. If healthy I think they jump SE and NR
6. Old Fort
7. Hopewell Loudon
8. North Baltimore
9. Bettsville
10. St. Wendelin
11. Mohawk
12. Lakota

Posted January 6th, 2011 11:36 PM IP Really, it's Carey and Calvert or Calvert and Carey. The rest of it doesn't really matter. Once again, the league overall is very poor.

Posted January 7th, 2011 09:45 AM IP I agree, right now I would have to change my thoughts and go with Carey over Calvert. Seneca East will get back to where they should be this year, and only if SJCC gets healthy can they move up.

Posted January 7th, 2011 01:35 PM IP Pfoosman is right, league is down this year beyond Calvert and Carey. Should be better next year as NR and HL will be better and with all the new coaches this year others should be better in year 2 as well, especially SE. Those 3 will be more of a challenge for Calvert/Carey next season.

Posted January 15th, 2011 12:24 AM IP What are the standings (over-all & league) now that SE beat Carey? I know Calvert is now all alone at the top, but where does everyone else fall in line at? Defense wins Championships. Just ask the STEELERS and PACKERS!!!!!
