Posted June 13th, 2012 09:50 AM IP The Norwalk School Board acted last night and effectively removed Mr. Duncan as their wrestling coach. They decided that administrators can no longer be coaches within the system, thus prohibiting Mr. Duncan from returning. However, anybody with knowledge of the situaton will tell you that it was simply a personal vendetta by the board president (and her husband) to get back at Mr. Duncan for past actions. And as usually happens in these situations, the kids are the ones that suffer.

Posted June 13th, 2012 01:06 PM IP Can't say I agree with this decision...LOTS of politics involved. So who takes over the program? Helton gave it up and went back to MS. They didn't want Sheldon last year. I'm sure there are no teaching vacancies that would allow you to hire a coach from the outside. Doesn't make sense to run a guy who won an NOL title, had no disciplinary issues, and no major injuries (partly due to the conditioning program installed by his son).

Posted June 13th, 2012 11:05 PM IP What's really sad is a 300-win basketball coach coming off a historic season where he was named Ohio Coach of the Year will be approved or voted out next month by a 3-2 vote either way I'm guessing.
I don't agree with this either unless they had another coach in mind, which doesn't appear to be the case. "If you're my enemy and you're by the side of the road with a flat tire, and it's 20 below zero, I'm going to stop and throw a gallon of water on you and keep going."

Posted June 14th, 2012 08:03 AM IP The only suitable head coach already in the system is Helton, who had the job at 1 time and decided he'd rather be at the MS working with the younger kids. Is he coming back up to the varsity? I know one thing, the Board is takign a beating in the Reflector.

Posted June 14th, 2012 11:55 AM IP My understanding is Helton wanted more time with his family. He is a great coach, but HS takes a lot more time than MS.
Is the Linder on the board related to coach Linder? Just wondering.

No. "If you're my enemy and you're by the side of the road with a flat tire, and it's 20 below zero, I'm going to stop and throw a gallon of water on you and keep going."

Posted June 14th, 2012 05:15 PM IP Norwalk wrestling just fell about 3 to 4 months behind where they need to be because of all of this. This is all after This team helped Norwalk win the all sports trophy that has never been done in school history< and 3 NOL championships......

Posted June 22nd, 2012 12:42 PM IP This is typical Norwalk.......Its the same in every sport, winning is not as important to the people that make decisions, and to the vast majority of voters that elect them, as it is to the kids that are busting their tails trying to win.I don't know alot about basketball coaching or wrestling coaching, but i do have common sense. And common sense tells me that if a coach just took a team as far as bb coach did, and the wrestling coach improved upon an nol championship team with less talent on the team, then they prob should be getting a 5-0 vote in favor of re-hire?
