That will change this week. Barring a set back look for Brandon Smith to be on the floor this Thursday.

Posted December 11th, 2011 11:52 AM IP Hope so, sounds good. His twin sister has been out since their 1st game with an ankle sprain. Hopefully, she's getting close as the Pirates play Clyde home Friday night and then home Saturday afternoon agaisnt Hathaway Brown. They just happen to be the defending state champion and who has been to the state finals, the last 4 years. Through in the Classic in the Country, now that's an independent schedule.

I think Sandusky's problem is that the players THINK they are better than they are. Even the Sandusky fans last night seemed shocked that they were losing. "Thinking" you're good doesn't mean "being" good. Nobody is intimidated by the Blue Streaks, but the Streaks think they are, I guess. Are the Perkins players better athletes than Sandusky? Well, they definitely wanted it more. Matter of fact, that was what used to be callled a "good, old fashioned, a** whuppin"!
Nobody is gonna roll over and play dead just because Sandusky looks good warming up. Especially now that other teams have seen that Sandusky really has no one who can shoot the ball, no "big" man, and no effort. Having one of your starters miss the first quarter because he missed the bus is not Keller's fault. The right attitude goes a long way towards success. Doesn't matter how much talent" you think you have, if the players don't want to put forth the effort, there's not much a coach can do. If I were Keller, I'd welcome the opportunity to get out of there.

I would agree that Keller needs to get out of there, he isn't winning, so that is a definite reason to leave, but I don't think it matters who is the coach if you have kids always coming up ineligible, and no public support from the beginning

He should be in store for a very nice year for the Panthers and they as a team should be strong. To Be The Man, You Must Beat The Man!

Oh, I get it. Double standards coming from Perkins? Aren't you the same guy who went bonkers over your head football coach just this past season?
I couldn't care less whose fault it is, but it's evident Keller needs to go.

Face the facts, Sandusky is playing the same way they did in the earlier days, up tempo, trapping defenses, etc. The fact of the matter is that Sandusky HAD better athletes back in those days. There are no demmar mores, dashay jones, etc, walking through the halls. People need a reality check and the check is they are not that good, and why is that, they don't have any studs on the team as years past and I mean way years past

No, Sandusky is NOT playing the same way. You can not say that while being honest to yourself.
Under the previously aforementioned coaches, Sandusky got AFTER IT on defense. Relentless pressing and man-to-man defense.
That is not the case with Keller. Keller, at times, uses a soft press, but is one used to slow the development of the offense down moreso than it is to create turnovers.
Also, your "better athlete" remark is so foolish it's not even funny.
Sandusky has TWO, TWO, TWO, D1 athletes on the basketball team. FREAK athletes at that. Jeffries and Turner are every bit as athletic as those you previously mentioned.
The difference? The previous players had a coach who UTILIZED their athleticism.
So what facts are you bringing? It sounds more like blind loyalty to the head coach than straight facts.
And again, if Sandusky wasn't as athletic as before (which is BS, as the football team, wrestling, track, baseball, etc, have all been very successful recently) then isn't it Keller's job to make them better players overall?
Yeah, thought so.
Also, I guess SMCC has better athletes than Sandusky does now, since they were able to play with Perkins in basketball.

Posted December 12th, 2011 07:54 AM IP I don't know that I ever said it was all the coaches fault or that the talent isn't as good. That is an arguement no one can win. I just believe he is part of the problem and it appears to get worse every year. There is enough talent there to be better than they have been. Say what you mean, Mean what you say..

Posted December 12th, 2011 02:00 PM IP From what I saw, Sandusky has tremendous athletes on their team. They are very good at running, jumping, etc. What I didn't see was good basketball players, there is a difference. Just because you are a good athlete doesn't mean you are a good basketball player. Passing the ball to the open man, moving your feet on defense, getting in the passing lanes, setting good picks, these are some of the things that make a good player and a winning team, and I didn't see much of those type of things from Sandusky , Jeffries is a freak athlete as Streak 23 said, and you'd be crazy not to want him on your team, Xavier Turner is an amazing athlete and a solid basketball player, but I didn't see a whole lot of "basketball" talent on the rest of the team. If I were Coach Keller, i would promote the point guard off the JV team. He wreaked havoc with his penetration and ball distribution skills. I didn't see anyone on the varsity that was able or willing to do that.

Thank you. That's all I've been saying. And, IMO, coaching plays a BIG part of turning an athlete into a basketball player. These kids all play at the parks, but playing streetball is a lot different than playing organized team basketball.
Keller hasn't established any foundation with them, IMO.
