Posted March 5th, 2011 12:51 PM IP D4 district game in Gibsonburg with SMCC at 9-13 and Toledo Christian at 15-7. I get to see some of these TAAC teams on BCSN and while the SBC is much stronger they TAAC is pretty good at the top with Ottawa Hills, MVCD, and TC. those nice D4 teams and I think SMCC amd Monroeville will have trouble at Gibsonburg. the Panthers are on a nice roll and hopefully they can keep it going.
Toledo Christian is on a nice streak on making to their district
10 lost to st. Paul in semi
09 won their district
08 lost to Van Buren in final
07 lost to Van Buren in final
06 lost to Cintinental in final
05 lost to Continental in final
04 lost to Continental in semi
03 lost to Leipsic in semi I think we found Kyrie Irving

Posted March 5th, 2011 02:05 PM IP do you think Coach Davie is going to help SMCC over a conference member lol
should have mentioned last year ended a streak of 4 straight trips to the distric for SMCC..3 of those making it to the district final. Panthers have now won their sectional 6 of the last 8 years I think we found Kyrie Irving

Posted March 6th, 2011 05:05 PM IP I went to the Toledo Christian vs. MVCD game Friday. TCS is a small team, but are very physical and very patient.
I haven't seen SMCC yet, but if they have someone strong inside who can stop TCS's big scorer and if they have a good 3-point defender to stop the Rightnowar kid, they'll beat them. You also have to be strong against Luke Simms. He doesn't score a lot, but he is a strong kid and can beat you if you aren't paying attention. Don't let your yesterdays determine your tomorrows!

Posted March 7th, 2011 04:45 PM IP just watched the TC and MVCD game and while the goal this year is just to win and advance TC looked much better earlier in the season.
as mentioned above they aren't very big as their post players are only like 6'0 but they are pretty active. forget the kid name but he is #23 is a decent scorer.
MVCD had a 6'6 kid but he wasn't really a factor...TC played a lot of zone to try and front him and back him but MVCD didn't really try to get him the ball a lot either. could be a good match up for Joe Youskievicz,
TC has some kids who are decent shooter
not the best team SMCC has seen all year I think we found Kyrie Irving

Posted March 7th, 2011 05:46 PM IP SMCC has a great shot at winning this. They underachieved the first half of the year losing most of their games but the second half of the season they have really turned it on. Don't know much about Gibsonburgs court but heard it's a relatively new school so the gym is probably a decent size much like PC's so if that's the case Harris should have room to create up top and his jumper is hard to stop when he has room.

Posted March 8th, 2011 10:57 AM IP haven't been in their new gym either but was told it was a lot like St. Paul's gym. if you think about it with SMCC playing 10 games at the den plus a game at Margaretta, SJCC, and Calvert they haven't played many games on a big court. hopefully it does let them spread the floor and use their quickness I think we found Kyrie Irving

Posted March 8th, 2011 12:41 PM IP Coach Davie played at Perkins, but his Dad was All-Ohio for S.M.C.C. in 1970. He went to Toledo, but things didn't work out there for him.

Toledo Christian and Ottawa Hills, either one, will be a very tough out for someone.
Sennish had not scored through 3 quarters when I left. He was hobbled by some sort of injury it appeared. Anyone know what happened? To Be The Man, You Must Beat The Man!

Posted March 8th, 2011 11:21 PM IP He's always had a knee problem throughout the year and he aggrevated it during the St. Joe game. He couldn't find his shot tonight which hurt them early but TC had a game plan and they executed it very well. SMCC was hurt by TC press and didn't seem to get around it in the first half. Only offense for SMCC came from Harris and E. Sennish both with 10+, SMCC has nothing to hang their heads about they have a good season and should be excited for next season they are capable of winning this district.

Posted March 9th, 2011 12:07 AM IP Once Harris matures he will realize he has to take his game to another level in tournament play. He has all the ability in the world and will only continue to get better. Wouldn't surprised be surprised to hear his name on the recruiting circuit after another strong aau season.

Posted March 9th, 2011 11:49 AM IP tough night for the Panthers. they had trouble early handling TC's press but once the figured that out they couldn't buy a bucket in the 1st half. TC was very patient on the offensive end making SMCC play defense for 30 plus seconds. they never took bad shots
the Panthers do return a lot of kids but most of the league returns a lot of kids so for them to move up in the SBC standings they will have to work really hard over the summer. now this experience could really help the kids on a nice tournament run for next season. I think we found Kyrie Irving

Posted March 9th, 2011 04:20 PM IP You heard comments from both the Monroeville coach "They are as good a defensive team as we’ve seen for a long time. They just guard you all over the floor.” and SMCC coach “And you have to credit Toledo Christian for hard-nosed defense and being physical" about the opponents defense.
IMO we just do not see the consistent level of that type of defensive pressure locally and it causes problems as you move on in the tournament.
