Posted September 18th, 2011 09:19 PM IP The TRAC matchups just keep getting bigger and bigger. This week's great contest is between Whitmer and St. John's. Amazingly Whitmer has only given up 6 points all year. I'm not sure if that was a TD or 2 FG's. St. John's is coming a VERY emotional win against Fremont. Some can say that Whitmer hasn't had a true test yet.... it comes this week. I don't think St. John's will have a letdown since Whitmer ended their season last year.
The other big TRAC game is between Findlay and Central Catholic. This will be Findlay's barometer game just like Whitmer's. While I think that Central is the clear favorite, Findlay gets them at home and you never know...
The Fremont game only worries me in how we come out after what happened last week. On paper Fremont should win this easily. In season's past after a hard fought loss, Ross hasn't exactly gotten over it so quickly. I don't think there are any Lima fans that frequent here but does anybody know if they got visitor bleachers installed yet?
And I expect St. Francis to make ground chuck of Clay. St. Francis's record is a bit deceiving. The teams they lost to are pretty darn good.

Posted September 18th, 2011 09:45 PM IP Yes, Lima has visitors bleachers.
Whitmer gave up the 6 points against Start in a 42-6 win.
I can tell you from talking to a number of folks in the know this weekend that the Little Giant players are hopping mad about losing this week. They felt they were the better team. I was told more than once that there will be no letdown. Just the opposite, the Little Giants may blow Lima out.
Central Catholic is the better team in my opinion and will win with relative ease.
I think the St. Francis-Clay game will be closer than expected. Only the fool is always right.

This was how the Sandusky players felt after the loss to Fremont. Not necessarily that they were the better team, per se, but that they didn't play as well as they could have and that they let the community down. Franklin said the week leading up to Perkins that the players were "angry" and ready to hit somebody.
3 games since, none have been close. The Streaks defense has been swarming to the ball and giving us highlight hits since.
I expect Fremont to respond the same way. They'll probably destroy Lima to the tune of 45-7 or something similar.

Posted September 19th, 2011 10:46 AM IP My son is A SR LITTLE GIANT DEFENDER, and our kids were and are very upset, this was without a doubt our best football game fremont has played ina long time, but also one of the worst officiated games ive ever seen, plus all the antics st.johns did form racial slurs to goiung from the northendzone after the game to midfield to stomp on our logo.
im not gonna bring up what happened after the game because its being addressed right now.
this is one of the best fremont teams ive ever seen, at least under coach kidwell.we have an outstanding defense which we take pride in in fremont. were gonna take care of lima, i feel sorry for teams in our way.
streak23 true, you guys are better, however in all honestly, we had the best of you guys, and 2 ross has improved vastly since week 1 to say the least. good luck rival!!!

Posted September 19th, 2011 11:10 AM IP I find it hard to believe that a teammate on a squad with black players on it would be using racial slurs.... Not saying it didn't happen, just makes you wonder...Findlay has been accused of this too. I've never heard that word said at any of the countless athletic events that I attended since we moved here in 96.

That kind of language does happen from MS on up to Varsity no matter who your teammates are(or the color of their skin). I have seen it 1st hand to past 2 seasons... May the Force be with you...

king, the points scored on Whitmer's defense came at the end of the Start game when the Whitmer QB threw an essential pick 6 that was returned to the Whitmer 1 yard line and then eventually scored.
I understand Whitmer's opponents have been lackluster with the two Canadian teams but they did scrimmage Southview and Perrysburg (42-0 in one half of regulation football), manhandled Start and beat an SF team that I cannot explain why they continue to lose (they are BIG, have athletes, and a lethal punter).
Should be interesting. Whoever can text me Findlay/CCHS updates I'd appreciate it.

Wait till you play SF. They are guilty of the same and the dirtiest team I've ever seen. At least 5 personal fouls their way on top of countless dirty play that was also deserving.
They're chain gang actually cheated on a stuffed 3 and 1! I watched the game on BCSN the following day and sure enough, on third down the chains extended from the 50 to the 40 and after the back was stuck in the backfield for a loss the Knights somehow had a 1st down because the chain Gods miraculously moved the chains back a yard from the 49 to the 39 yard lines. It was unreal.

Posted September 19th, 2011 02:44 PM IP I have noticed at the state basketball tournaments that the private's student body yelling vulgarities at the opposing teams while the priests and school officials do nothing. Most notably Lakewood St. Ed's and St. Johns. The entire student body of St. Johns did the baby powder slap ala Lebron and caused the game to be delayed while the Schott's crew got the mops out to clean the mess from the floor. No technicals were called and should have. I have heard of similar behavior at high school hockey games in Toledo.
