A new thread idea...once per week, a movie will be chosen and everyone is free to discuss it. If you haven't seen the chosen flick, run out and rent it during the week if you want to participate in the discussion! :p

Also...please be warned that if you have NOT seen the movie each thread will be chock full of Spoilers. You have been warned!

Our first movie...

omg i loved this except for my flatmate walked in during the last scene and asked 'have you seen this the end is amazing that guy ain't dead' i just sat there think 'nope this is the first time i've seen it!

but i have to say it looked like another teen slasher film but it really wasn't and i took a million guesses at what the twist would be and i still didn't guess what it was!

a great film!

I really didnt see that ending coming!!! Saw had some of the most imaginative murder set pieces Ive seen for a very long time and it impressed me so much (I bet that makes me sound like a total nutter).

Has anyone seen the sequel (or is it not out yet)?

Its not out until October 28 in the US...I don't know if the UK release date is any different.

Preacher told me about this movie about a month ago and recommended that I see it. From the way he raved about it, I expected it to be good...but I didn't expect to be utterly blown away by it.

Like everyone else has said, I did NOT see that ending coming. When the "dead" body got up, I said outloud HOLY SHIT. That scene is amazing...the look on Adam's face, the flashbacks with all the little hints I never picked up on...fucking brilliant.

Speaking of Adam...he's the dude who wrote the movie. Pretty cool, huh?

I'm looking forward to the sequel ALTHOUGH its a different screenwriter and director this time. Eeep.

I have to admit that Im a little suspicious of sequels on the whole. Ive seen too many excellent films tainted by shitty, half arsed, cash in sequels. I hope this one is an exception.

I liked SAW alot.....would I say I loved it? Not really, although its close.

The only downside for me was the acting....though most of the time it was awesome, there were some parts where I wanted to slap the actors in the head and tell them to try harder, lol.

I think the murder scenes were amazing, especially the scene with the girl trapped in the "reverse beartrap" device, that was intense, and I love being on the edge of my seat during horror flicks.

The ending, the twists, I was blown away by the final twist and it finished off a great movie with a great ending...I just dunno if they should have signed on for a sequel....though the film makers like to think that shitty sequels dont tarnish the original, its not entirely true, especially to people who see the sequel first...lol, IT HAPPENS.

I really liked this movie.I wasn't too anxious to see it because most horror flicks I've seen recently stink.I really thought the idea behind it was brillant, the guy (other then kidnapping) really never did anything. The people killed themselves.I just thought that was really good. lol
And like everyone else the end was a real shock to me.

I love this movie! it is great, I thought the acting was a little stale but it did not matter because the writing is perfect. Great twist ending, with a good question "what would you do to live?" You can watch the trailer for saw 2 at yahoo or lgf.com but i will warn you it is just a teaser, so its not much. At sdcc they had a panel on it and the guys said that saw 2 was actually another movie they had but they just transferred it into the saw world. (hope that made sense) in other words it was a totally different movie and they didnt have time to write another movie so they just got someone elses idea, dont know how that will work out, and they did say what the name of the movie was but I cant remember. So I dont know if the sequel will be any good but I will probably be in line for it.

Too true and that's what makes the Jigsaw Killer both brilliant and totally f***ed up. He kidnapped people, bait the trap (so to speak), and watched what they did. The guy with the safe and the man in the barbed wire cage died accidently. Amanda killed the man locked in with her. Adam killed Zep (sp?). Doctor Gordon died of blood loss from his self inflicted wound. And I assume that Adam was left to die.

I thought this movie was a good idea. Carey Elwes is rubbish at American accents though, and that sorta ruined it for me. The puppet thing scared the sh*t outa me and thewhole concept was good. The other guy in the room with the good Dr...he was the writer of this movie, but he wasn't that great an actor either. He should just stick to writing. All in all I'd say 5 outa 10.:chicken:

I was surprised with this movie b/c I had expected it to be like almost everything else I had seen, but I was totally blown away by the concept of this movie and the twist at the end that reminded me of the twists Hitchcock would use in his movies. I like movies that mess with your head, it keeps you on your toes.

DAMN!! I scrolled down..thank you jigsaw for scarying the holy SHIT out of me!!

That would make one mean remote control vehicle. With his legs moving the pedals *shudders and lifts feet off the side of the bed*

It was really brilliant the way they made all the death *possibilities/scenes/*

But if I was in his situation..I would have just shot myself in the head..I couldnt take the pressure..

Yeah, I never felt much "hatred" towards Candyman. He wasnt particularly a villain in my eyes, almost like Eric Draven in The Crow. He was getting some sweet ass revenge.

SEE IT!

CANDYMAN CANDYMAN CANDYMAN..

Ok as we all prolly know by now, I am mildly biased about anything with the Clive Barker name on it. But I really like this movie as well.

I think the story was good, we all can tell the acting could have been better, but I think the flaws make it more real to me.
I like Candyman because he's not a hack and slash urban legend. He's a suducer, and I think that makes the killing a little scarier when you find that your killer can get you to want to be the victim!

Oh yeah, I totally agree Bari.

The acting in the movie COULD totally have been better, but I see that in most, if not ALL movies, its just something that happens. I think the high points beat the crap out of the low points, and this movie has NEVER lost its spark with me, from when I first saw it YEARS ago, to watching it this damn weekend.

I'm not a nig fan of the sequels myself, anyone else seen any of em?

I thought I had seen this movie but as I discovered when I watched it today, I have not. What a great movie!! I expected a slasher flick so I was pleasantly surprised.

I agree there. Candyman had the most seductive voice and way with words. Gave me the chills.
