1st XI
Home to Thornton St Peters
Great Glen batted first, putting on 231-5 in their 45 overs. Michael Hincks top scoring with his 2nd century of the season. Darren John also weighed in with a second consecutive half century of his own. In response Thornton were reduced to176 a.o, however it was a tense finish with the final wicket being taken in the last over.
2nd XI
Away to Thornton St Peters
With promotion already in the bag and needing 8 points to secure the title, glen lost the toss (yet again!) and were put into bat on a slightly sticky wicket and lost opener Collis in the 3rd over. A gritty 4th wicket partnership between Lee Wigston (31) and Lee Samuels (21), aided by a 17 run partnership for the last wicket between Dan Gee and Dave Pitcher Jnr saw Glen scrape to 113 all out.
In response Thornton also lost a couple of early wickets but Glen were always playing catch up despite some good bowling. Drops in the field proved costly and despite having Thornton 8 wickets down, Thornton required just 2 runs off the last over which they got to steal the title from Glen’s grasp.
