OWLSNEST June 20th, 2007 12:05 PM | Got a horse? Like to trail ride? If you live around the beautiful Blackwater Reservoir and the Kearsarge Valley/Sunapee area of Merrimack County in New Hampshire, come to a meeting of the Blackwater Trail Riders (BTR) and join a diverse and fun group of horse lovers. The Blackwater Trail Riders is comprised of men and women of all riding disciplines who like to trail ride for pleasure. We are always looking for horseback riders of all ages who would like to join us in exploring new territory with old friends or might be willing to escort some new friends through familiar territory. Beginner or experienced, if you desire sport and camaraderie in a relaxed social way with horse lovers who enjoy the outdoors in the same way you do; this is the group for you. No shows, fund raisers or bake sales will be on the agenda. As a club we also do what we can to "give back" to the trails that afford us so much enjoyment. We help with trail clearing and maintenance in the 3,600 acre Blackwater Dam Reservoir area in Salisbury and Webster where many of us ride. BTR is also a "Friend" of the Northern Rail Trail that runs through the towns of Danbury, Wilmot, Andover, Franklin and Boscawen. The Friends (FRNT) work to convert the "ballast rock" surface of the trail to a "multi-use" hardpack surface.
The membership fee is only $10 (family=$15) and covers the cost of copying and mailing our monthly newsletter which contains a calendar of rides and contact person for each ride.
Grab your riding buddy or, come alone and find a riding buddy to the next meeting of the Blackwater Trail Riders! Meetings are on the last Thursday of each month at 6 PM — bring your ideas and a munchie to enjoy with everyone. Coffee and beverages are provided. Call: 603-934-4081 before 9PM or or email: hmhrider@mac.com.
