Lima Senior visits The Rayen School for the final time as the Youngstown school closes its doors at the completion of the 2006-07 school year. The Rayen School is one of the longest football playing schools in Ohio, compiling a record of 485-462-55 from its first game with New Castle, Pa. in 1892 through game four of this season.Included in Rayen's 115-year history are 13 Youngstown City Series championships, the latest in 2005 under coach Brian Shaner. In his fourth year as the Tigers head coach, Shaner has got the Rayen program in order and has his young men "from the hill" on Benita Street on Youngstown's northside prepared for every game.

The Rayen School and Woodrow Wilson High School will close after this school year with the new East High School opening in the fall of 2007 to join Chaney as the only Youngstown public high schools.South, old East High and North have already closed as the city of Youngstown as seen its population rapidly drop in the last 25 years due to the decline of the steel industry.

jake Regretfully, I don't see the Spartans winning this week. Lima's only chance for a victory the rest of the year will be a home date with Sandusky in a few weeks.
