There are several for me including RR taking that cold dip into a BIG Bear area swimming pool, guns and all, thanks to a good, well timed shove by a somewhat snooty reporter type ( played\ by Dale). However, one of my all time favs has to be a scene featuring only two of his sidekicks. Gabby was driving the jeep down a rough, dusty trail road and Pat Brady was riding along next to him. Pat did not care much for Gabby's bumpy driving and let him know it. Gabby decided, OK.... if you don't like it so much why don't you just drive this thing, and yanked the steering wheel loose from the column, handing it to the startled Pat. He started trying to steer the unattached thing in mid air and, then realized quicky, he was hopelessly doomed. He tried to hand it back to Gabby, but a stubborn Gabby refused to take it . He began calling Gabby a idiot and every name he could think of ,as they both careened wildly down the road. The contorted facial expressions on Pat ( in this scene especially) and the comic reparte between these two marvels, was simply magical to see. Watch it if you can find it! I don't recall the movie this was in, but I have this snipit on a DVD highlight piece. It is right up there with the best of Abbot & Costello, JMHO. ;)

I liked that one too. There was one ( I hope this counts) in "Sons of the Pioneers", when Gabby and Pat were singing, thinking that Roy was dead, and then when Roy started yodeling, Pat and Gabby thought the other person was yodeling. Then they thought that Roy was a ghost. That one was pretty good. I liked it when Dale pushed Roy into the pool. That was kind of funny. |

In, BELLS OF ROSARITTA, Gabby thought no one was looking, and decided to see what a powder-puff was like, only to be caught and laughted at by the S. O . P.'s.

There are so many funny Gabby Hayes scenes! I can not pick my favorite! |

Cowboy fan mentioned Roy's movie, "Sons of the Pioneers". Another good scene in that one was when Gabby started juggling bottles, only to find out that they were filled with nitroglyserin, and Gabby forgot how to stop the juggling without dropping one.

I also liked when Roy held up the wagon is Bells of San Angelo, and when Evans was put in Jail in Home in Oklahoma. She deserved to be put in jail, anyways. |

Yes I liked it when DE threw the shoe in Roy's window, and he tells her that she should not do that because someone might put her in jail! And she was already in jail! :) |

Another scene I like was in Young Bill Hickok when Gabby and Sally Payne were driving the wagon, and then the bad guys attacked and Sally thought her banjo was her rifle.

There are to many great, funny scenes. Who can forget the little sheep that pestered gabby. Smiley getting electric shocks in "King of Cowboys." Trigger playing cards with the pioneers. Dale as a ex u.s marine. The cheese in the wagon boot with dale. So many so little time. Also pat singing about giving a bandit hot lead and running out of ammo with his "16 shooter" and roy taking their boots and driveing dale back in bells of san angelo |

You guys have all chipped in real good ones here, TY for that.. One more I forgot about was from the RR TV show when Dale was trying to discreetly shoot the lock off the Sheriff's front door. She told Pat to create a distraction by making Nelly Belle backfire to cover her gunfire. Of course, Pat starts trying to do it right smack in front of her and she berates him to move back down the street and then do it. Pat is in Nelly Belle reving it madly (also cursing/cajoling the jeep) like an blooming idiot, getting goofy looks from all the passerbys, but nary a backfire results. Meanwhile Dale is getting completely exasperated still holding the gun under her left arm, and trying to look nonchalant to all the locals going past. Finally he gets a backfire and Dale fires the lock off. When she finally takes what she was after inside to Roy with all that effort......Roy deadpans to her.....Ya know, you shouldn't have taken the law into her own hands like that......ha ha!! I was rolling on the floor on that one! |

There's so many! I like the part in Bells of San Angelo, when Roy and Dale are talking on the phone together.... in the same house! That was really funny! |

I think that the one with Gabby and Pat Brady in the car is in 'Ridin' Down the Canyon'
Outside of Pat Brady moments like "You Ain't Seen Nothin Till You Hear Him Roar" or "Biscuit Blues", my favorite has to be Trigger helping him play poker in 'Under California Stars.'
Another favorite is Al Sloey trying to get rid of his job as ranch cook via sabotage in "Grand Canyon Trail."
And there's just too many great moments with Gabby, Pat & Shug. |

That movie was very funny. It sure would have been hard to be Roy acting in that movie. He had to be the straight man while Bob Hope was saying all those funny lines! |

One I forgot to mention did not include RR, only Dale and Gabby. Dale had just drove a wagon into the drink and had been rescued by RR viia a lasso pull from the bank. RR took off and Gabby arrived to ask what happened. Dale tried to explain what and who and Gabby played dumb and kept asking curious leading questions of her about the 'stranger' she was describing. The interplay here and expressions were marvelous and vintage Gabby comedy magic. So funny! |

One scene I thought was funny is in "Bells of Coronado", is when Dale drives her car off the road to get around some cattle and get stuck with the car, a Ford "Woody".
Then Roy comes down the same road and when he stops to help Dale, when he is not looking, Dale jumps on Trigger and rides him back to town and leaves Roy with the stuck car.
That had to be Dale's stunt double doing that riding. You have to be a very good horse rider to ride Trigger side-saddle at a gallop.

I also liked when, in Roll on Texas Moon, when the Sons of the Pioneers were playing cards in the barn, and they heard the lamb and thought it was Pat making the noise, then, when they found that it was a sheep, they put him back in with Gabby.
I guess the people who wrote the scripts sure knew how to make the movies have a good balance of funnyness and seriousness. |

A lot of great scenes have been mentioned here. I also liked on The Bells Of San Angelo when Dale is trying to keep her identiy a secret and her and Roy keep going back and foth on the telaphone.
Also, in Eyes Of Texas when Penny mistakes Roy for Mr. Brown and Roy just can't make her understand that he is NOT Mr. Brown. |

I also like in Bells of San Angelo when they are talking on the phone. There are some great scenes in the TV shows too........... one where Pat is trying to get Nellybelle to backfire so Dale can shoot a lock to help Roy, Every movie has a least one great/funny scene! It's immpossible to describe them all! |

One more good one, of just Gabby, was in The Carson City Kid movie. Gabby was the Sheriff out riding to capture the kid when RR (playing the kid), roped him from a tree, steals his horse and makes him walk all the way back to Sonora town alone. When he finally gets there, tired and embarassed, he lies and says a rattler had spooked his horse, just as he was about to catch the kid.
He then finds his horse tied up at the rail, with a note on the saddle that read..."sorry Pappy about your horse, but the next time you go out riding into the country, you ought to take along a chaperone" . Gabby then stomps and glares at his nag, face to face, then loudly blames him, solely for going with RR so .willingly to wit, "you ought to be ashamed of yourself"..... funny stuff that!

Also in Apache Rose, when Dale is pretending to be the Senorita, and Roy finds out. He say's that she's Snoty. And then her wig falls off. That was funny! |

In UNDER NEVADA SKIES, after Dale drives her car through a shallow creek, splashing Roy and a few other with water, her car dies a little ways down the trail.
Dale ask Roy how to get the engine running again. He say's, just take out the spark plug wires and blow on them to dry them off. She actually does that, but soon thought that Roy was just joshing with her.
Actually, drying the spark plug wires WOULD help ! :D
