Topie: SOUTH OF CALIENTE

Durango Kid
In the H.T.T. version of South of Caliente, in the wraparound commentary by Roy and Dale, Roy says that this movie was the first movie they used BULLET in.

I did not see Bullet at all in South of Caliente. I think this must have been a mixup.

Now, in SPOILERS OF THE PLAINS, Bullet has a lot of scenes in that movie, but in the wraparound commentary of the H.T.T. version of this one, Roy and Dale talk about BUTTERMILK.

Can someone else here on this M.B. verify my findings ------- or is THE DURANGO KID ready to go to the FUNNY-FARM :eek:

Cowboy Preacher You are on target...so forget the Funny Farm. Spoilers of the Plains was the first movie that Bullet was in. Noticed something kinda cute on HTT. In Spoilers of the Plains, Penny Edwards was the guest and I suppose while she was there in Knoxville with them at the studio they did also In Old Amarillo because when Dale was giving the cast line-up, Roy said, "Oh, Bullet is in this one too"

Leah B. I think with all those movies RR and DE made, sometimes they got a little mixed up. I've seen pictures that are labled 'From Lights of old Santa Fe', when it was clearly from another movie!

Cowboy Preacher;

Thank You for verifing my finding. I do have IN OLD AMARILLO, and will look for that misquote.

Cowboy Preacher Hey Durango Kid,
Also I noticed in those two HTT productions that in the second one they did (In old Amarillo), that Dale and Penny had changed outfits but Roy didn't.
You may have seen my post on here before but I had the privelege of meeting Roy once back in the late 80's and I told him, "No one could ride a horse like you could ride Trigger". He just grinned so big. I could tell it really made him happy.
There'll never be another.

RoyRogersFan I never saw someone who could ride like that either, there'll never be another alright!

Roughriding Senorita You bet not!! As for mixing up their movies, I think Roy and Dale did that quite a bit. It's not so surprising when you think of it--after all, they probably didn't watch them much!

CowboyFan Sometimes I notice that all of them are wearing the same outfits in different wraparound for different movies. I did notice one time though when Dusty was their guest he said that Young Bill Hickok was released in 1944. But it was released in 1941, right?

Roughriding Senorita Right. Oops! I guess even Dusty mixes things up sometimes! (I guess we, as fans, have more time to be accurate!)

Leah B. Hey, all we do all day is watch RR movies, read RR books and talk about RR! Of course we have more time to be accurate! :)

Brenda Castilla I would imagine that making so many movies, it would be very hard to remember all details to every movie years later!
