Gee, is it only me or do the rest of you see some huge holes in the plot for Under Nevada Skies? The first time (and the second and third after that) I watched it, I was sure that it must be the cut version. The holes were just too big. But then I found out that the 60+ minute version that I saw was the fully uncut one! Now I’m wondering if I’m the only one who can’t figure this out. The thing I can’t figure out is—who strangled Tom Craig? It is totally unexplained!! The only person in the room with him was that guy who shot him, but the guy who shot him didn’t strangle him—he was outside of the house the whole time. That means that someone snuck in there and killed him after that guy shot him—and from the dialogue later, even the bad guys don’t know who it was! Who was it? The only possible person would’ve been Dan—but you never find out for sure! It’s driving me crazy. Do any of the rest of you see this hole—or did you pick up on an explanation I missed? (I’d really like to know, because apart from that Under Nevada Skies is one of my favorite movies!) |

Oops, one more hole in that movie that I noticed is the scene where Dan catches the guy going through Tom Craig’s safe, and shoots him. You never find out who he was, what he was doing, or whether Tom Craig really didn’t know him!! Now, that’s a pretty big hole to leave! |

I saw the uncut version, but it was a while ago! I think though, to answer some of your questions, there was two bad guys, who were working against each other. Sorry I can't help more! |

I don't know either, I'm sure my copy's uncut. It has to be, uh, I think. Naw, it is. I think that the script writer was just having a bad day! |

Does your version have the songs I Want To Go West" by Dale, "Sea Going Cowboy" by the Sons, and in the middle of the movie "Under Nevada Skies" sung by Roy and Dale. I know they also sing this song at the end also. If your version has these songs then I would bet it is uncut. |

My verison has all of these songs, and the Sea Going Cowboy has to be one of my favourate songs that I've seen the SOPS sing in RR Movies. |

In UNDER NEVADA SKIES, I like the part where the "indians" are riding their horses around the house, attacking it, and the cowboys inside. The "chief" says, Just Like Old Times, Boys !
A good "Cowboy and Indians" movie.

Roughriding Senorita, I think they just left it for to assume that Dan strangled Craig. That's what I always thought.
And about the man Dan shot, I think he was looking for the crest. Who he was obviously wasn't important to the plot. After all, at that point, Dan was not a major suspect.
As for "Sea Going Cowboys". . . Not the Pioneers' best moment! |

Our copy( the one she saw I loaned her) did have those three---must be uncut! Thanks for the help, we've been wondering about that for awhile. |

Thanks, guys. I guess RRFan is right--the scriptwriters were having a bad day. Seeing this, I firmly resolve never ever to write a mystery and leave anything unsolved!! |

Good for you! I can remember one time my sister and I wrote an movie script that was a mystery, and after we had it edited and all we didn't explain who robbed the museum (which housed an exquiste RR collection) two times! And those were HUGE mistakes. |

Gulp! Actually, Under Nevada Skies was the sixth Roy Rogers movie I watched, and the one that really convinced me that Dale wasn’t a fraidy-cat. When the Pioneers, Roy, and the Indians set up that mock holdup, I clearly remember thinking, “All right, if she gets fooled and screams, I’m through with her!” Of course, though, she not only didn’t scream then, she didn’t even scream when the bad guys started really shooting. I think it was then that I really decided that I liked Dale Evans—through and through! She passed the screechy heroine test with flying colors! |

It seems to me, miss Nina Hansen, that you were telling me that you would NEVER star Dale as the heronie in any of your stories. |

Yeah, but when we showed it to the people who helped us we explained what should of happened then, and I don't think they minded too much. |

All that stuff was in mine, although I didn't realize that the actor that slugged him was Leroy Manson. |

I just watched Under Nevada Skies last night- and I agree with cowboyforchrist. Since Dan was the other bad guy, I think he was the most likely candidate to be the one who rubbed out Tom Craig. I also agree with yellowrose13 that the guy Dan killed who was going through Craig's safe just wasn't important to the plot. |

Yeah, but there's one thing about that guy that went through the safe that I'm sure about,
Tom DID know him, the way he was acting I'm possoitve! |
