My husband and I got back a couple of weeks ago from a MidWest trip. We spent two nights in Branson at Roy's Bunkhouse Cabin.
We HIGHLY recommend it!!!!!! I've never been anywhere and felt more at home! We even tried to change our flight out to be able to stay one more night!
Honestly, if you are going to Branson, don't even think about staying anywhere else!!
It's quiet, peaceful, and secluded. It's romantic, homey, and comfortable. All of your needs are thought of: dishes, games, puzzles, RR movies, music, jetted tub, fireplace....
We will definitely be back. The hospitality and care that the Roger's family has put into it is second to none. Also, Dale has a cabin right next to Roy's.
There, that is my advertisement. hehehe I'm still so excited about having been there! I can close my eyes, and I'm curled up on the leather couch wrapped in a blanket, eating popcorn, and watching some RR movies we don't have at home with my husband.
ahhhhh....
P.S. It was our first trip, and the museum is inspiring!! And the show ... off the charts spectacular!!
Best vacation ever! |

So many recommend this for a great vacation. Just the thoughts of it being named after RR are enough to make the vacation GRAND! |

We celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary last year in Branson & staying at the Roy Rogers cabin. It was a complete Roy Rogers weekend with the cabin, Dusty's shows, the museum & gift shop. It just doesn't get any better! |

Texas Jan...That gives me an idea for a future anniversary! Many places all over this USA and Mexico we have spent our anniversaries......Cancun and Merida, MX. and Tucson and San Diego; ALL being my favorites with all the others spent in equally splendid beautiful locales. This year, our 25th anniversary, Canada will be part of my anniversary trip. I assume one needs to plan FAR ahead to make certain that the cabin is available on the Special dates one wants to be there. I can already picture my anniversary in the cabin...so, one June 6..hope to be there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Reservations for the RR cabin are more easily made for the middle of the week or a weekend when there isn't a whole lot going on there. However long you have to make them ahead of time, it's well worth it. |

If you don't mind me asking, Brenda Castilla, where in Canada do you want to travel too? |

I am not yet certain where we will enter Canada after we leave Colorado Springs and seeing my daughter and grandchildren there.....we will go into WY and MT and other Northern states. I LOVE AZ but we will not go there this year. I also LOVE MT and will be there few days. I have looked and looked and am trying to decide where we would have the best time in Canada. Have you been there??? Do you have a favorite place there??? |

I live in Canada! It's a great place...except we get TONS of snow in the winter. There is alot of museums in Ottawa, like the Air plane Museum, the War museum (very interesting to my brother and I because we love history), the museum of Civillization, the museum of Science and Technology...and tons of others. I've only been there once though my family lives about two hours away. Toronto is pretty good too, but I've only been there twice. If you want really pretty scenery, and something closer to where you would leave the US, then Banff or parts of Alberta and British Columbia are beautiful (I've never been there, my parents have though.) My favourate place would have to be where my family lives, but there's nothing to do or see there!

For the most part, I want to travel too. I want to see California and go to Branson when I grow up, and other historical places like millitary forts and I love pioneer villages.

I hope you get to travel as much as you wish. I have seen many places in my life and each is as spectular as the others! Each place offers its own particular beauty/history/enjoyment. |

Thanks! I once saw a video/documentary about a train trip from one end of Canada to the next, and the scenery in Banff Alberta and Jasper Alberta was simply stunning! |

One thing I want to know: What is weather like in June in Southern cities in Canada?????????? I remember waking to 32 degrees in WY one July AM and went outdoors with shorts on not realizing it was cold early in the AM's at times. In 2 hours, it was very warm but...being used to having nights in mid 70's, that was a harsh temp to wake to in summer! |

I just asked my Dad, and he said that around Toronto and Windsor (our southern cities) it would be about 25 celisus, around 75 farenheit in June. |

No problem! Though living in Canada is great, the one thing I don't like about Canada is all the snow that we get in the winter. But it's not really bad right now because all of our snow just melted. |

It's really strange to have the snow actually almost gone just a week before Christmas. Last year we had our family ice rink up and were actually skating on it....but now it looks like spring! ( I wish it was though) |

Do they allow you to bring pets to the Bunk House?
I have a cream and black German Shepherd named "BULLET" that would feel right at home there. |

I have not seen a statement on that subject. Bet my Gabby Cat would enjoy the Bunk House but not the trip! |

Pets are not allowed at the Bunk House. We inquired before we stayed there. Too bad, though. |

Not that Gabby would even consider traveling...it takes an act of Congress to get that cat to the vet once a year for the annual required rabies injection for all cats (indoor and outdoor) in AL, but, in all our travels, the very best hotels available do not allow animals unless service dogs....which should be allowed!..IMO. |

Cats don't seem to like trips much, for the most part! I've seen a few that have, but the greater majority, uh, coaxing them in a car is 'intersting'! :) :) :) |

I had one cat that "loved" to ride in a car...he came wandering to my back door one day and as always, adopted him and named him Scrampy..have no reason why that name even came up but, that was one of the best cats we ever had...so pleasant and sweet and so loved a car ride! |

That's neat, Brenda Castilla. What I really want right now is a dog, but my dad had one before he got married and it drowned, he hasn't wanted one since, didn't want to go through the heartbreak when it died again. |
