CowboyFan Here's the Lyrics. My sister and I found them on a place called Petcare Tips, and it had a great tribute to Roy and Dale. I'll try to post the link here if I can find it.

He's rode across your silver screen
For over forty years
He's brought bad men to justice
he's seen laughter, he's seen tears
and I know forever, in many hearts he'll reign
As the King of the Cowboys

There is honour to his name.
He's a kind and gentle legend
a hero's right to fame
He's taught young folks right from wrong
And he's taught me the very same
And I know forever, in many hearts he'll reign
As the King of the Cowboys
There is magic in his name

Chorus:
He's the King of the Cowboys, a legend in his time
A man who loves his country
Where he will always ride
Saddled up on his golden Palomino
A six gun at each side
His spurs and boots and his white hat
Walks a man with a lot of Pride

Chorus:
He's the King of the Cowboys
A legend in his time
A man who loves his country
Riding off into the sunset
In a western sky of blue
He has given precious memories
and Happy Trails to me and you!

I hope this helps, and welcome to the MB!

Raybob Thanks Heaps!!

Movie question..................Anybody ever come across Mackintosh and T.J.? I think it was Roy's last movie made in 1975. I saw it while in college. The RR DE museum doesn't have the rights to it. I read that he did most, if not all of his own stunts and cracked a rib in during filming. I'd like to have a copy if I new where to find it.

Raybob Oh and one more lyric question.

What would the King of the Cowboys do standin' in my boots?
Would he recognize the bad guys, would he figt or would he shoot?
It's hard to wear a white hat today and make it through, but I've never been steared wrong yet, wonderin' what old Roy would do.

Anybody know the rest of this Dusty song? I'll check the web that Cowboyfan mentioned.

Happy Trails!!!

There is many songs that either one of them sang or wrote that have lyrics on this site.
Glad to help!

TrueLucy/EthelMBFan The tune and words are engrained in memories of fans. The chosen words embellish the inward feeling felt by all Roy Rogers fans.

drfligo I bought a copy of MacIntosh & TJ on DVD at a western film festival. Not sure what its legal status is, but the quality is good. Will have to watch it again to see if Roy does his own stunts. It would include some very tough riding and some pretty big falls.

Kinda interesting to see Roy hunting coyotes on horseback to an instrumental of "Back in the Saddle Again." Good music by Waylon Jennings.

TrueLucy/EthelMBFan The first day "MacIntosh & TJ" was shown here, I found myself and my family in a packed theater. It was noted that the entire run at this particular theater in the city had packed audiences. Thunderous applause was heard at beginning and at end. The spectrum of age group attending the showing of the film was astounding; from children to the elderly. It was mentioned in one newspaper (here) that the older crowd wanted the younger set to learn "who" Roy Rogers was and why he meant much to them at the time and had for many of the years of their lives. Thru the years that have passed since I saw the film, I would enjoy the "change of film type" we now often watch at theaters or at our own home in what we call our "Movie Room". Many I know are introducing their Grandchildren to Roy Rogers films and the television series when they obtain said material along with some other "oldies" that somehow live on as "one of a kind" entertainment especially in comedy; "I Love Lucy" will remain a tradition for large audiences due to content not found in what is now filmed.

CowboyFan Did Dusty write it?

Buffalo Gal Yes he did, along with members of his band, "The High Riders".

I failed to mention that while Dusty is singin' "King of the Cowboys" at the museum, they show Roy on big screens in movie clips, ridin' Trigger, home movies with the family, and etc. I can't help but have sweet happy tears as he sings the song he wrote for his dad, *King of the Cowboys*.

CowboyFan Thanks. I always wondered who wrote it. I really like this song, and almost have it memorized.

Eowawa Dusty does a terrrific job on that song and the words are surreal. The only one that even comes halfway close to it is Hank Jr's tribute to his dad Hank Sr...Standing in the Shadow. May RR and Hank Sr forever seranade the angels in heaven above.
