Cactus Rose Awesome! The last two Septembers we have been to Branson and the RR museum and it is really great! Silver Dollar City's Fall Festival is always so much fun and this last September's SDC Salute to the Great American Cowboy was AWESOME. Great music and everything else. :)

Durango Kid Durango is sure happy that Dusty moved the museum to a more central location in the states. We can make Branson in eleven hours, (one days hard ride on Silver) :D from our house. We like to vacation in the southwest, so it's right on the way to our other destinations.

Buffalo Gal <b><font size=2><font color=cc9900>Buffalo Jim and I have seen Dusty & the High Riders regular show a few times and it's just wonderful, of course!! Dusty sings great cowboy songs of the 'old west'; sings his own music and salutes his mom and dad with special songs especially for them. Great job Dusty!! He does visit with the audience and they get to ask him questions.

Kirsten (the girl member of High Riders) has a beautiful voice and she get's to do a couple of songs on her own. The whole band is fabulous!!

We are goin' down to Branson tomorrow to see "Dusty & the High Riders Christmas Show" for the first time. We've not gotten the chance to see their Christmas show 'til now, so we are very anxious! I know it'll be just wonderful! filled with lots of holiday cheer and spirtially influienced. Has any of ya seen their Christmas Show?</b>

fran giovanetti I thought it was great, drove from New Jersey, wishing I could go again. I would like to stay at the bunkhouse sometime, got to meet Dusty after the great show he put on. I also was in Victorville about 8 times. I am glad they moved to Missouri, but it seem harder for my husband and I to get away. Everyone should see it at least once. ;)

Sheila Reiboldt Before the Museum moved to Branson, we would have the Annual Cowboy's Christmas Ball every Christmas time. We would set up tables inside the museum, decorate for Christmas, have a wonderful buffet dinner, mingle with friends, fans and family.. Then Dusty and the High Riders would play for us... It was GRAND.... I miss it since they moved away - and I am looking forward to another Christmas when I can share the love so many of us have, for Christmas is a special time and spending it among Roy Rogers people is the best..

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

"<u>Our Trip to Branson and Dusty & the High Riders Christmas Show</u>"

<font size=2>Folks, we had a fabulous trip!! We took one my kids as I call her and her little girl Cheyenne (age 3). Dad had to work. Cheyenne's mama Regina was the lady trickrider that followed Dusty & the High Riders in the 'big red barn', when they performed at SDC durin' the "<u>Salute the Great American Cowboy</u>".

We arrived in Branson and went to get a bite to eat at "Cracker Barrel" for lunch ( Painted Pony and Bren: Do ya remember those days back in November 2001; when we spoke of Cracker Barrel and the Roy & Dale Christmas ornaments they had at CB then? I don't see them anymore there, so I'm wonderin' if they stilI have or make them. Remember "the milk dud" and 'the goat barn' stories? I sure do! ) :D

Cheyenne was so excited that she was gonna get to see Dusty again (when they all were at SDC Dusty would see her backstage at the Red Barn. Cheyenne had drawn Dusty a picture then and he told her that he'd put it in his office at the museum. Dusty's so good with the younsters, as his dad was)! She LOVES Dusty!!

<font size=2>We arrived at the museum with sweet Shawna (Roy's grandaughter, Dusty's daughter and our administrator's wife, here on the RR/DE MB) greetin' us and gettin' our tickets that I had previously ordered. We headed into the museum as we were there 'plenty early', 'fore Dusty's show and Buffalo Jim was tryin' to keep me out of the gift shop. :D

<font size=2>Each time we go into the museum, there seems to be something new there, or that I have missed seein' it from an earlier time (they probably rotate some of the items also). I've seen the museum many many times, but I can't help myself, as my favorite of all, is lingerin' for a long spell in front of the inclosed glass case that houses Trigger Jr, Bullet, Buttermilk and 'the ole man', "<u>Trigger</u>". I know as I look at him, he was old (33 years) when he passed on, but in my mind I still see that magnificant animal we all watched in the movies and in the TV shows. Trigger the 'ole man' was so handsome and extremely smart!!

<u>Time for the Show</u>
We had front row seats and that was GREAT! They showed the episode of "<u>This is Your Life</u>", with Roy, back in the 1950's. I remember that show well, as I saw that show 'way back then' (I also have a copy of it too). Little Cheyenne watched it with close attention. I've not seen a 3 year old sit so still and be so attentive and watch somethin'like that in a long while! When Dusty & the High Riders came out onstage we were clappin' loudly. Dusty glanced down and saw little Cheyenne and waved to her and said, "Howdy there Cheyenne". That done it! Her eyes got so big and a great big ole smile came on her sweet face. Durin' the show, she'd watch it and clapped her hands with excitment. She acted like a grownup and had the best time!

Dusty and the High Riders show in the first segment, saluted the cowboy with singin' some classic songs of the old west. Their openin' song was "Great American Cowboy" that the Sons of the San Joaquin popularized. Dusty summerized on how his dad started the ledgendary group, "<u>The Sons of the Pioneers</u>" He recognized the writin' talents of Bob Nolan & Tim Spencer. Told us how Roy and his biological mom, Arline met with the lemon chiffon pie story. He told the audience how Dale started out, and how she was a great 'band singer' back in the 1940's.

Kirsten sang a couple of her favorite gospel songs growin' up. She has such a lovely voice!! It was a great first segment!!

Then, the settin' changed and Dusty & the High Riders sang a medly of traditional songs that was among their favorite Christmas songs as youngsters. We heard a few stories of Christmastime at the Rogers. Kirsten sang a couple of her favorite Christmas songs.

Dusty had a holiday decoration up in the "Happy Trails Theatre" they use to have atop Roy & Dale's home there in Apple Valley, California

In closin':
Dusty saluted our servicemen and women and recognized all the veterans. We all sang a couple of patriotic songs.

He sang his song that he always does for his mom, "Wayfarin' Stranger" while we all watched clips and footage of Dale's life and career on the big screens. "Beautiful song Dusty! He gave tribute to his dad by singin' the song "<u>King of the Cowboys</u>" he wrote for his dad, and Roy got to see and hear Dusty sing it 'fore his death in 1998. There were clips and footage of Roy and Trigger also as Dusty sang this song. He closed the show with us all singin' "Happy Trails".

We took pictures of Cheyenne and Dusty and, Regina, Cheyenne, Dusty and me also. Look for those on my website Rockn' V Southwestern Ranch™, on the navigation menu *On the Road* soon. You may view it by clickin' on the Rockn' V Southwestern Ranch™ link, right below my signature here.

All I can say is, it was a wonderful show!! Y'all need to come visit Branson, MO durin the Christmas season next year and see "Dusty & the High Riders Christmas Show</u>"!! There'a only 3 days left for this year, so make your reservations early for their Christmas Show in 2006.</b>

Brenda Castilla Soon, the museum will begin having Dusty and The HighRiders performing many days per week. I wish the museum well as Spring approaches and many tourists will be visiting.

Nelda My husband and I visited the Museum and Theater this past summer. I felt like Roy and Dale were there. I loved visiting there so much, I didn't want to leave. My husband took my picture with Dusty. He was so nice and friendly. I didn't realize until after we had left and started reading fan mail that his daughter and other members of the family were there too. I would have wanted pictures of all of them. I hope to go again the next time we visit Branson. The show was so wonderful. Someone asked Dusty if he was a Christian like his parents. He said you bet and told a little about when he became a Christian at a Billy Graham Crusade. I loved the question and answer session. I loved it all. It is worth the trip. Nelda

Nelda Buffalo Gal,
Thank you for sharing those pictures of New Year's Eve. I enjoyed them so much. The picture of Dusty and Linda is such a good picture. I know you must have loved that evening. Maybe I can go someday.

Buffalo Gal <b><font size=2><font color=cc9900>Thanks Nelda!
I enjoy sharin' photos and stories with our Roy & Dale Family here on the message board. For those who weren't able to attend the festivities, at least we can share photos and stories of the New Year's Eve Celebration with the Rogers Family in Branson, MO,

Bein' there at Roy & Dale's Museum & the Happy Trails Theatre; sharin' the evenin' with ALOT OF our Roy & Dale Extended Family Members was THE GREATEST ever!! Ringin' in the new year of 2006 there, I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else! It was very emotional and memorable for me! The New Year's Eve event of 2005/2006 was truly special and I treasure it! We'll be there again next New Year's Eve, the Lord willin'!! The photo of Dusty & his lovely Linda is courtesy of our pals, GW & Miss Clara, of <i>"The Osage Valley Vigilantes"</i>. Isn't it a great photo of them!

Roy & Dale' would be so proud of all their Family. They are scattered all over, and each and everyone of them are carryin' on the Legacy of our beloved "King of the Cowboys" and "Queen of the West" in their own special way!

Thank Heaven for Roy & Dale!!</b>

Brenda Castilla I know the reasons behind the move to Branson but, the museum in CA. will somehow always hold a special place in my heart; Roy and Dale walked there and that somehow made me feel closer to them. The Branson area holds much potential for large crowds to be able to see exhibits whereas the CA. location was too far away for many.
Sue: I wish I could be in Branson when you are there.......after all the years of exchanging messages, to meet would be a delight!
LindaB. and I had a fun day at museum a couple years ago.

Buffalo Gal <b><font color=cc9900><font size=2>Thought y'all would enjoy seein' this photo of Dusty & the High Riders from their show on openin' day this season, in the "Happy Trails Theatre".

Roy & Dale Extended Family Members, Elvin & Betty Pettet sent it to me. Here's their discription of the first show for the 2006 season; in their own words:

Quote:
Elvin and Betty wrote:

We always go to Dusty's first and last shows of the year, and several in between. We were there at his first show on March 21 this year. The band has a new fiddle player, Nathan, and he plays a mean fiddle too! He will be a great addition to the band.

I did a double take when the band came out, because there was a member of the Sons Of The Pioneers with them. Gary LeMasters of the SOP has joined Dusty's band! The additional sound of Gary, when he is singing back up to Dusty or Kirsten, really gives the whole band a fuller sound. And also when playing his guitar in the background to the others, he adds a great deal to the total sound! Of course he can play lead guitar too, so combined with Sean, they make a great pair!

This is the year when EVERYONE should go to Branson to hear them! The program this year seems more upbeat, and moves along at a fast pace. I have heard them play many times through the years, and can say with pleasure, that this is the best program of them all!

Elvin:
I totally agree with what you say! When I saw Gary LeMasters, I was blown away! What a priviledge it is to have such a great talent join the band. He will definitly be a wonderful addition to the High Riders! With all the different talents combined, Dusty & the High Riders must have, "the show of shows" in Branson this season! :D

Roy must be very pleased and proud to have a "Sons of the Pioneers" (the group he started over 60 years ago), now performin' with his son Dusty & the High Riders. What joy Roy must be havin' up in Heaven, watchin' this come to full circle. :) </b>

Buffalo Gal <b><font size=2><font color=cc9900>Has anyone else seen 'Dusty & the High Riders' in the 'Happy Trails Theatre" in Branson, this season?</b>
April 8th, 2006 12:55 PM
SStacey Boy, how exciting this turn of events is! I am thrilled that Gary LeMasters is now with Dusty. Now it is like having the best of both worlds. The best of the Sons with Roys son. I hope this is a pernanent arrangement and not just a 1 year deal. Can you imagine Sean and Gary playing off each other! WOW!
April 8th, 2006 10:49 PM
Nelda That is exciting! I hope I can go back to Branson soon. Has the set changed? It looks a little different in the picture.
April 18th, 2006 10:42 PM
Buffalo Gal <b><font color=cc9900><font size=2>Nelda:
The stage settin' probably does has a few changes to it this season. I know I change things around all the time! :D

Buffalo Gal <b><font color=cc9900>Nelda:
For some reason, Elvin Pettet can't post a message on the MB and he sent me this to post for him. He is a member, but it won't let him post. Dave, would you look into it for him?
This is the quote I received from Elvin.</font color>

<b>Elvin Pettet wrote:</b>
Quote:
The set has a few changes that can be seen, the most noticeable is the DOUBLE R BAR corral sign in the back. It looks like the sign, that for the last year or so was in the lobby of the Victorville museum. Dave could tell us if it's the same one or not. Dom has moved his drums to the front, about where the keyboard player was last year. Dusty wasn't using a keyboard player in the first show of the season. With the addition to the band of Gary LeMasters, from the Sons of The Pioneers, the keyboard wasn't missed at all.

Another thing that shows up in the picture is a big stand up bass, that Phil plays on some trail like songs. They do the trail songs with all acoustic instruments around the stage campfire, which makes the sound more like the original western music. Dom even leaves his drums, to play an acoustical guitar on the songs! Of course the SOP and all early western groups used a stand up bass, so it sounds absolutely great! In the first show, Dusty and Kirsten sat by the campfire on tree stumps during this segment, as they did in some of their earlier shows. I believe it is the best show that Dusty and the Highriders have ever put together, and I have heard them many times over the last 15/18 years or so. They have all been good, but this year they have that harmony together that is extra special!

If we happen to arrive there in between shows, sometimes we get to have a nice visit with Dusty and the members of the High Riders Band. Dusty and the High Riders Band have two shows daily; plus they're appearin' at Silver Dollar City durin' the 'Salute to the Great American Cowboy' (Sept 14, 2006 - October 28, 2006). Hope some of ya will get to see them perform!!

They do their regular two shows a day at the theatre; 10:00 AM and 2:00PM. You'll need to see their show at the theatre. It's fabulous!!</b>
