OSU should be apologizing for that win. It will be a short March for this team, period. |

I got back fro Sandusky just in time to see Turn(ov)er give Iowa 2 chances to ties or take the lead with less than 30 seconds left. Good thing they were 0 for 2 on those chances
good to get the W in a "must win" situation |

Not sure if it will be a short trip in March, anything can happen a team can catch fire and insanity results.
However, we are really a very very mediocre ballclub right now. I was hoping to get Lighty back but it looks like that will not happen. |

A win is good especially on the road when they are on the bubble. There was improvement from Saturday, but they have to get out and cover shooters better like they did the last 3 minutes of the game. Hopefully they can win Sunday to have 10 Big Ten wins to hopefully propel them into the NCAA tournament.
I don't think Lighty is coming back this season. Personally I think it would be in his best interest not to, as there isn't much left to the season, and plus he could maybe get this year of eligibility back with a medical redshirt, and then he can get back to 100% by next season and make an impact. |

Agreed about Lighty.
As I said before, I like us as a low seed in the tournament. I doubt we get blown out, and if you can keep it close on a neutral court, you've got an excellent shot at winning. |

1 win they had to get down, 1 to go |

Going 20-9 without a good PG is a very solid season IMO. David Lighty was really missed over the last 2 months and im glad to see Offcut getting more minutes. The kid was a very good player is HS. |

Two things I hated seeing last night...
-OSU still playing some zone against an under-manned squad like Iowa.
-OSU not pounding it inside to Mullins when he has a 6'7" guy guarding him. |

Agreed. OSU has been horendous the last few games when it comes to getting out and covering shooters. Teams have been shooting well from the outside against the Buckeyes and they need to get that aspect of the defense cleaned up.
I too wondered why Mullins didn't get the ball more with a much smaller guy guarding him. Sometimes I think they fall in love with the jumpshot too much and forget where their strength is (dribble penetrating or pounding the post). They are at their best when they penetrate in the lane and get kick outs to the shooters or dump offs to the post guys. Creating their own shot doesn't work for this team. |

This is what I take when Mullens post up. He loses position almost regularly. Those 6'7 guys are stronger and push him off the block 80% of the time. Mullens may start his post up on the block but he ends up at least 2ft off it by the time he receives the pass.
I agree I wish he dominated but he has no post moves. He gets the ball and turns and shoots a jump shot. We see no drop-step, reverse pivot, up and under, ect from him.
Going pro for Mullens = Cash, with the ending result being the D-League. |
