I thought about going to this one, but decided against it.
M State will be a riled up hornets nest after their loss at home this week.
I don't think OSU takes this one at home, loss by a dozen or so. |

I think OSU will be up for this one too, after that loss to Illinois on Tuesday, where they didn't play very well. I think Matta gets the Bucks fired up to get a 3 point victory over Sparty.
I will be at this game too, in the student section :D. Should be a fun time! |

I still say the Buckeyes need to start playing some team ball if they expect to compete. I've just not been impressed with the individual efforts too many players are putting forth. Don't mean to be thumping on Turner again, but that Illinois game for him was a train wreck. If he would start thinking about how his TEAM can score instead of just himself, they will be more successful. |

MSU in a rout if the Buckeyes continue to play like they have. An OSU win would not surprise me though either. |

I think that Buford's name belongs along with Turner's .
Both only thinking about looking good for the NBA. |

Ramb, you're not the first person I've heard that from! I agree, he's definitely only seeming to see the basket once the ball hits his hands. The only small difference might be at least he had a few clear looks at it. Welcome to OSU - Ohio Stepping-stone Univ. Realize they're all hoping for the next level but us fans are hoping for team success not just individual success. |

I think Buford has actually improved in this regard since the beginning of the season. And, these two are the best offensive players on a largely offensively inept team. Someone has to score, especially when the shot clock gets low. |

31-26, I'll take it.
Going to have to execute and show some consistency in the 2nd half. We can grow up a bit here. |

I wish Matta would have gone man to man or done something different to try to slow down Summers, he couldn't miss from 3. |

^No kidding. That and we got beat up on the boards in the 2nd. The Spartans just flat out wanted it more. Plus OSU probably had about 8-10 turnovers in the final 10 minutes of the game. Way to waste a decent first half. |

Nailed it.
Just talked to my dad about the game. Mentioned that Mullens is projected in the top 5 of the NBA draft.
"Are you kidding me? He let those guys go right over him to get a rebound. He stinks." That's with a raised voice from a man who rarely says anything.
I feel like I've seen too many of these types of games from Thad Matta teams. Gah. I'd like to see some man-to-man as well on occasion. I'm a fan of the match-up zone, but we need to switch it up from time-to-time. Maybe just one possession out of a TV Timeout.
We have to rebound better. Plain and simple. There better be one of those shells or rebound things on the hoop all week this week. We have to crash the offensive glass better and have to box out much more frequently and stronger than we did today. It's all heart and effort, and we lacked that. Maybe a line-up shake-up would take care of it. Give us Titus!

I listened to most of the game on the radio. Seemed like we let them go on too many runs of 5-0 or more....especially when ever we had a decent lead at the time. |

Preschool- Your comments are right on. I would also add that they need to in side and back out more. Diebler got his points that way. I agree that Mullens has a long way to go. Remember that they are young. |

We are young, yes, but that doesn't excuse the lack of effort rebounding.
Dallas Lauderdale started off the season--we'll say the first 10-11 games--playing at a very high level. He's fallen off a lot.
We can score a lot but we have to do a few things on the offensive end.
1. The ball must go to the post. It doesn't have to be a score, but the ball has to be touched near the block area.
2. Jon Diebler needs to touch the ball. It's a bad idea to have him shoot it every time, or to dribble, but defenses adjust and react based on keeping him from going off. Right or wrong, that's how they plan especially if he's made a shot or two.
3. We need to get out in transition more frequently than we do. Simmons and Hill are quick, Turner can be explosive, and Diebler can get open looks. Also, we create mismatches on our bigs in transition. Less walking-up, more running up. |

I would say if they get to 20 wins, they would still have to make a run in the B10 tourney. I don't think they have enough solid wins to get in. |

I don't think Ohio State will beat Wisconsin at Wisconsin and I don't think they will beat Northwestern at Northwestern, they are playing good ball right now and we all know that teams that play basketball in Ohio lack that "Mental Toughness" ;) |

I'm not sure it's entirely his fault. He's proven he's not a "bum" as you said, but I have to wonder what's up lately.
OSU will beat Wisconsin at Wisconsin. |

I think you've got that about right, but I think the home losses are one or two too many. I think they'll win at least one of Ill, Purdue, or certainly Minn in Columbus. In spite of the loss to NW, I think MSU is the class of the B10 and anyone else can be beaten, esp at home. I'd put OSU at 21-8 and, w/ a win in the B10 tourney, in the dance. They have some nice wins--Miami, ND, and Butler who is now ranked 14th in the country, w/ their only loss coming to OSU. |

As many of you have pointed out there are many things they need to improve on. If some of these don't happen I think it would be more enjoyable to watch them in the NIT (again) where they can win some games. |

I hope to scrap enough to get in the NCAA and get Lighty back, and then see if we can pull off a game or 2 and get in the sweet 16. That's my high goal for the season. |

this buckeye team without Lighty is just five dudes thrown on the court
talented individuals but they are not a functional team, and how could they be when they start over every year and have no upperclassmen
if this team makes the NCAA Motta deserves coach of the year |
