Topie: Ohio State Recruiting
January 7th, 2009 11:32 AM
Pronkville So I was checking out Rivals and I went position by position and I havent found anyone committed to Ohio State next season. Everyone has committed it seems and it does not look good for OSU. Im not sure they are old commits that are now playing at their respective institutions, Im pretty sure it is updated. Doesnt look good for the Buckeyes.

Maybe someone with more knowledge of the situation can tell us otherwise, that would bre greatly appreciated!

Also is Walter Offutt on the team or even playing??? He was suppose to be one of our top prospects in this years class.

Tater44857us It is my understanding that they have a full compliment of scholarships next year with no seniors on this years squad who would be leaving and therefore opening having one available. As for Offutt he played early on but I too have womdered about the disappearing act.

scout15 On scholarship for 2009-2010 season
David Lighty- SR
PJ Hill- SR
Kyle Madsen- SR
Jeremie Simmons- SR
Jon Diebler- JR
Dallas Lauderdale- JR
Evan Turner- JR
Nikola Keckman- JR....has not played this season due to NCAA rules
Zisis Sarkipolous- JR- Transfer, will not be able to play till next season
Willam Buford- SO
Walter Offutt- SO...he is still with the team
BJ Mullens- SO

We have 12 guys on scholarship next season and that number could be cut to ten if Mullens and Turner go pro

2009 recruting class will not be very strong just from the standpoint that Matta had a full roster of scholarship players....but with Crater gone and a few others looking at the NBA the Buckeyes will pick up a couple kids. I am expecting at least 1 JUCO player

2010 recruiting class may be better than the 07 clas. Sullinger and Thomas are two of the best in the country.

stillinpreschool Keckman can play now, I believe.

Check Club Trillion for a GREAT Walter story.

I don't believe either is ready. I will get a chance to see Sullinger this weekend at the Play by Play

Pronkville Ready or not, the money talks and they will go.

I did not think Dequan Cook was ready either and he went in the first round and has not come around to be a active player for the Miami Heat!

scout15 I dont think Turner or Mullens is ready but money does talk.
January 7th, 2009 01:57 PM
Slash 95 percent of the people who go in the draft aren't ready.

You go when you are satisfied with your draft position, not when you are ready. The NBA has better coaches than any college team and you will learn more and develope faster there. Plus make millions of dollars.

Tater44857us All of the above was completely understood prior to my posting. I just think that neither has shown enough to me to say they would get much playing time anywhere. Of course Mullens gets taken at his height.

scout15 NBA may have better assistant coaches but Head Coaches...I dont think so
January 7th, 2009 02:05 PM
Pronkville Line Mike D'antoni up vs Thad Matta, who wins?

Line Phil Jackson up next to Roy Williams who wins?

Line Greg Poppovich up next to Mike K. who wins?

Line Mike Brown up next to Billy Donovan who wins?

scout15 New York vs OSU----New York wins

Lakers vs North Carolina-----Lakers win

Spurs vs Duke----Spurs wins or does coach K have the olympic team?

Cavs vs Florida-----Cavs win

Mullens shouldn't see the floor his rookie year except mop up duty.

I think Turner will get decent minutes from day one.

Playing time isn't and shouldn't be a factor in their decisions though. Not that you are necessarily saying that it should, I don't know.

Scout I wasn't talking about head coaches.
January 7th, 2009 03:08 PM
Tater44857us Unfortunatley seeing the floor isn't what they think about, it's all about the jack and how much am I gonna get paid.
January 7th, 2009 03:21 PM
Slash ^ Yep but that is exactly the way it should be.

Your financial future is much more important than how many minutes you play in a game.

Uh, Cook is averaging 25 minute a game, and is scoring 10ppg. He also shoots 43% from 3.

He averaged 15 in his last 9 games before he got hurt a couple days ago. If that's not active, I don't know what is!!

Another guy, Kosta Koufos, who people were saying shouldn't have gone pro has also seen his PT increase due to injuries on the Jazz. He's averaging 5.4ppg playing 13 minutes a game. Now, that's not astounding or anything, but the point is he's getting some PT on a pretty good team. He's even started 7 games recently.

You just never know when you could be called upon in the NBA.

Slow down, There is a typo in there, didnt mean to say "not" I meant he has, but thanks for informing me of his numbers.

Streak23 LOL! How was I supposed to know it was a typo? BTW, I'm not speeding ;)

It's all good. Just making sure people knew!
