Hopefully he's a fast healer,,,,lots of basketball left,,the whole month of Feb and March and that's worst case scenario. Means more time for Simmomns and PJ Hill.
Silver lining might be it will force him to return for Senior year also. |

He will be back that injury pretty much seals the deal their. I would venture to say his season is pretty much over. Lesson learned hanging on the rim can bite you in the A**!! |

Makes the other guys step up quicker and more minutes. You hate to see it happen, but Turner got his time last year due to Lighty getting injured. |

I see a lot of Kobi Bryant traits in Evan Turners game.
Hope his healing is complete when he does return and it would be great to see him join the great class coming in next year. |

buckeyekid He was not fouled IMO guy didn't even touch him that I could see. He was pulling his legs up to swing on the rim but was to far underneath and lost finger grip and dropped. Hot Dog move cost him period. |

Hot Dog move???? That's how you keep from landing on some one. It's a rule now so the kids can brace themselves now when they dunk.
The ref called a foul didn't he? Thus he was fouled. |

I agree, I thought he his momentum just caused him to lose his grip. 8 weeks is a while but how will an back injury affect him when he comes back. I'm no doc but that could affect him for life. Hopefully not! |

Hopefully he returns in time for the committee to see us at full strength. Additionally, if we can just play "alright" we will be fine as far as seeding goes come selection Sunday, they do take into account the fact we are without him. |

Hanging on the rim USED to be a Technical foul...it has nothing to do with "bracing" themselves...it is all about the show. |

Sometimes yes it's a show,,,,many times it's to keep from landing awkwardly,,,all depends. He was going full speed straight ahead in traffic,,,,go ahead call him a hot dog I guess if that's the way you saw it. I was sitting in my season tickets row A section 122,,it was litterally 25 feet in front of me at court level. From my view he was trying to brace himself in traffic and his hands slipped from the rim. |

I won't buy that at all. If a person has 2 broken bones in their back there is no way you only miss about 4 weeks.
When they said 8 weeks I didn't even buy that.
For the sake of the Buckeyes I really hope you are right and really heard this but right now there is just no way! |

Timmy if the fracture is like some stress fractures in the ankle and feet that is common in runners it could happen. I have seen runners wear a boot for 10days- to 3 weeks and be good to go. Pool workouts to keep cardio up. Lets hope so. |

The Lantern is the one reporting this: http://www.thelantern.com/sports/turner-i-ll-be-back-playing-in-three-weeks-1.994552
Its only Evan saying that he will be back, remember he should need to get medical clearance to play so who knows. |

This would make it more like 5 weeks vs. 8 weeks. I guess he wants to show the NBA he's ready when he declares for the draft after the season.
Turner could be available against IU
Posted on: January 5, 2010 11:37 am
Evan Turner will be available to play Wednesday against Indiana if he makes it through Tuesday's practice without complications, Bob Baptist of the Columbus Dispatch is reporting.
Baptist attributed the report to a "source close to the program."
Turner broke two bones in his lower back in a game Dec. 5 and has missed the subsequent six games. Ohio State is 3-3 without Turner, a stretch that includes an 0-2 start in the Big Ten. Turner was averaging 18.5 points, 11.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists at the time of his injury. He's considered a lock for the lottery if he enters the 2010 NBA Draft.
Ohio State is 10-4 overall. |

Hopefully this isn't in response to the two losses. He needs to be fully ready to come back before doing so. |

^ I bet it is in response to our sucky play and he's rushing back. He also probably wants out of here after this season and wants to up his draft stock. |
