Topie: OSU Spring Game
April 20th, 2007 10:05 PM
ScarletFever I'm headed down to take a look at the 07 Buckeyes. I know XBP is headed down as well. If my phone takes any worthwhile pictures I'll post them. I know there are a few injuries so maybe we'll at least see a QB battle.

XBellevueplayar Scarlet,

I'm VERY interested in Henton tomorrow! I guess during a recent scrimmage he made the "play of the game" scrambling to avoid a sack and hitting Robiskie just short of the goal line. He's been compared to Troy for awhile now but bigger and i think we could have a good one in him. Time will tell if he makes the right decisions at this point only being a red shirt freshmen.

GREAT weather - 72 and sunny so get there early.

I'm hoping to take my digital that i use for the website so if i do and get a few pics i can post them as well...

anyone else going??

ScarletFever Henton was the LVP. Played for the Gray in the first half and Scarlet went ahead 9-0. Played for Scarlet in the 2nd half and Gray ended up winning a 16-9 game. 3 INT's for Troy Jr. :(

Boeckman solid starter, but the backup #11 won 2nd job. Wells ran ok. Defense (and sloppy offense) ruled the day. 2 TD's by the D, one by the O.

Robiskie hurt?

XBellevueplayar yeah i was amazed at 65,000+ last year who showed up at The Shoe but today was even more of a surprise after losing the NC game. In no way did i see another record setting crowd but sure enough 75,000+ in attendance. I was really disappointed with Henton today as all i've seen on spring practice was how good he has looked. You also have to factor in that a good number of 4th and 5th string players saw significant minutes today as besides Mo Wells not only of the RB's will see the field this year with Saine and Herron coming in as Freshmen and C.Wells likely the starter when his ankle gets 100%.

Robiskie: I saw that as well Sacrlet but have not seen anything online as of yet about it or how bad it is. he was limping but did jog off and then again Ted Ginn jogged off before leaving in the NC game as well.... hope he's fine!!!

Many times you can't take much from these games. You have the BBall players calling plays. Tressel sets back and just takes it in while chatting with recruits, a number of projected starters miss it (atleast 2-4 today if not more) . I recognized a few recruits there today and was pleased that they made it. The O-linemen that everyone is calling or nicknaming the "Block O Linemen" had atleast a few of the 4 or 5 there. Jenkins from West Virgina, Adams from Columbus, Brewster from Florida were all there and maybe more like Long from Virgina and Shuggarts from TX. They were all in a group and at one point had their arms around each others shoulders. These guys have formed a bond of friendship and many think we'll get atleast a few of the 5 if not 4.

Scarlet,

where were you sitting today man? I was about the 15 yardline in the third row on the home side...

i'll TRY posting a few pics later or early this week with maybe more comments...

GO BUCKS!!!!

ScarletFever Visitor side on the 40 yard line towards the closed end row 13.

Yes I worried about these basketball players calling plays and getting these guys hurt on 4th and goal, etc...

XBellevueplayar i always like sitting on the home side but think i might switch sides next year. they always reserve the middle sections for parents and family of the players so we sit down by the 20 or so... the visitor side you don't have that...

OSU Josh I'm in the Athletic band. It was awesome marching on the field at Ohio Stadium. Field turf will be installed this summer (they're tearing out the sod right now) so I can now say I was in the last band to march on natural grass at the 'Shoe.

I was in the side of the band cheering for Gray, so I was happy with the result.

:roflmao:

- Alabama sure has sparked an interest with Nick Saban taking over down there. The Tide i believe does well in attendance for their spring game but no where near 90,000+

-who would have ever thought that with losing so many key players and expectations not being close to what they were last year that the Shoe would have a record breaking crowd for a spring game!!!

colscricket 90,000+ is a lot of people for Alabama... keep in mind, it's FREE for people to attend their spring game!

NorCal Interesting numbers bbmind. Spring games don't generate much interest out here. Cal held a 2-hour scrimmage rather than play an actual game.

Incredible numbers at Alabama, Ohio State, and Penn State.

Turf??? I am so bummed out about this. Football was meant to be played on grass, and a program with the cash that OSU generates has no reason to go to turf when they can afford the best grass in the land. If they spent the time to properly care for it, it wouldn't have to be the debacle is was during the OSU-michigan game last year. It needs to settle into it's surroundings and that can only happen with time and fertilizer.

my father works as an usher down at The Shoe. They had new grass in and spent a good amount of cash but it tore up and was like sand from what i heard. they tried replacing it a couple times but Tressel has not been happy on how its been on the ankles and legs of some of the players.... i THINK another reason why their going to turf is they want to get the State Championship games back in Columbus. Turf is the ONLY way of doing that....
I like grass as well but with the way things are going with more teams (even high schools) exploring installing it the idea is not as bad as i once thought.

osubucks55 Yeah, it is a shame the grass is leaving. Back to the Buckeyes though, the Defense will definitely be the strength of this team. Kind of reminds me of the 2002 team. The offense does just enough scoring to win, and the defense is superb.
May 8th, 2007 07:06 PM
osubucks55 For what Michigan has coming back, I'm shocked to see they only has 5,500 show up to their spring game. Amazing, but a good thing to see from a Buckeye point of view :D !
May 8th, 2007 07:56 PM
bbmind 4 straight bowl losses. 1-5 vs. Coach Tressel and losses in 9 of their last 23 non-MAC games, don't be surprised.

Don't worry about it.

The last game in November will be played in front of a packed Big House. I suspect those fans will leave VERY happy.

bbmind Let's hope they mix in a 2nd win in 7 years.
