It worked again. It will pit #1 vs #2. But wait, maybe #5 and #6 are the best two teams.
Time for a playoff. |

Bowl games make way too much sponsor money, it's far too messed up to fix. |

Playoff games would bring in more money.
We don't have a playoff for the same reason CFB doesn't have black coaches. Old White guys that want everything to stay the way it was during the 1940's when they were growing up. |

It's a mess because WVU couldn't beat 7-loss Pitt. The BCS will do this evening what it was supposed to do and that's pit #1 vs. #2 in a previously agreed upon system. No need for a playoff and give forgiveness to losing to Stanford at home, etc. |

the bcs system itself could EASILY be used to establish a semi playoff
use the top 4 teams in the final ranking and then match them up as follows
1 vs. 4
2 vs. 3
winners play for the national title |

People talking about letting 8 teams in -- that's ridiculous. Just keep it simple. |

I would love to see LSU vs. USC too, but I would much rather USC play the fighting Illini (If they choose to stick to Big Ten.) in the Rose Bowl. |

Here's an outstanding article from SI debunking the current BCS system and calling for a play-off.
It's really disconcerting to read that the Big 10, PAC 10, and Rose Bowl are the biggest impediments to a true play-off.

Hey...I'm only a little ridiculous. Seriously though, what do you do about a team like Hawaii, who will NOT be ranked in the top 4??? Don't they have a legit beef and what if they waltzed through the WAC like Mt. Union does through the OAC? Do they deserve a top 4 rank then? Remember that Boise State upset almost the same Oklahoma team last year (with the exception of their frosh QB). That's why IMO there has to be at least 8 teams or a clause for mid major conferences. |

^^I agree. TV contracts and bowl committments have a stranglehold on things for the next few years. A Plus 1 at least shows some movement. |

Hawaii. Hmmmmm. Nope! :-)
They played no one!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to see them in their bowl game. Goodbye undefeated season! |

I don't think after the season is complete, with the way coaches vote, computer polls, and bcs rankings that there is any doubt who truly warrants playing in an 8 team playoff.
If you didn't prove yourself worthy that year, there's a reason why.
Hawaii's reason would be - they went undefeated against cupcakes.
Just like people on here arguing against Bucyrus' wins this season in fb. They did not give them any respect for playing the teams they did. Same thing. |

People need to realize, we do have a playoff. It starts in September (unless you are in a mid-major conference).
-your game at Colorado is a playoff game
-your game at home vs Stanford is a playoff game
-your game at So Florida is a playoff game
-your game at Texas Tech is a playoff game
Lose a playoff game, and you're in a beauty pageant, if you're lucky. A 12-week season isn't long enough to give any credence to "who's playing best at the end of the year."
IMO, the only team that's ever gotten screwed over by the system was the undefeated Auburn team a few years ago.
