Well it appears he's heading to Michigan (bad move on both sides part). My question is will he stay at LSU and coach the bowl game? It will already be an inferior bowl game than he should have played in after losing 2 games to teams with 9 combined losses. Remember 1989 when Bill Freider took the hoops job at ASU and Michigan wouldn't let him coach the NCAA Tournament and then Steve Fisher took them to 6 straight wins and a NC with an overtime win over Seton Hall.
I think it will be interesting if he stays on for the bowl game with the issues he's walking into at Ann Arbor. I would imagine LSU will turn on him pretty quick when he takes the Michigan job after having NC talent the last 2 years and nothing to show for from a NC perspective. |

Your just mad because you were wrong!!LOL
Wasn't OSU last year supposed to be the New England Patriots of College Football? Yet the NC trophy is sitting in Tim Tebows house!
Welcome back Coach Miles!!!! |

I'm not mad I was wrong, I wasn't quite wrong either. I think if you read my posts on the subject matter you will see I said it wasn't the no-brainer for both sides that many think it is. Not Miles will not be the next coach, etc. Overall I'll take an I was wrong here because had they hired someone else I would have taken an I was right stand and you can't have it both ways so yes overall I was wrong. |

I had to work Saturday -- so am I missing something? Has word come out that he's going to Michigan?
The word I've heard is that it's a ploy to get a better contract with LSU and that Michigan already has their man selected.

I hope he goes to MU. Sweatervest, Miles, Zook, and (to a lesser extent) Paterno all in the Big-10 might get the Conference back into the mix as the best in the country.
I will say this about Miles and Michigan tho. They will have their work cut out for them recruiting here in Ohio, because Ron Zook has been making a LOT of progress in landing the kids from Columbus/Cincinnatti that don't get recruited by OSU and who used to go to Michigan. I don't know much about Zook, but what little I have seen/heard is pretty impressive. I work with a woman whose son was just recruited my Zook, and was a freshman on the team this year (o-line). She tells me her son tells her how awesome Zook is and how everyone on the team goes home raving about him. It will be a real battle for these kids with Miles/MU in the mix too. |

This thread is only IF he leaves. If he goes to Michigan will he coach the bowl game. I know you can't believe "sources" especially when there are sources reporting different things on the same subject. I still believe it's not a good move for either side, so we will see. |

ESPN just this second changed their main page link to read 'Source: Miles to stay at LSU'
The link change is so recent, the story once you click on it is the 'Miles will go to Michigan' story.
This change is insane, last second and a total 180. All 3 hours right before LSU / Tennessee kickoff. Wow. |

A source has told ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit that barring any unforeseen circumstances, Michigan will announce early next week it has reached an agreement with LSU coach Les Miles to be its next head football coach.
Herbstreit is also reporting that Miles will make Georgia Tech defensive coordinator and interim head coach Jon Tenuta part of his staff at Michigan.
Miles, who played at Michigan and served two stints as an assistant under the late Bo Schembechler, will succeed Lloyd Carr, who stepped down after the Wolverines' loss to Ohio State last month.
Miles has been head coach at LSU since 2005. LSU is 32-6 with Miles at the helm, including 22 wins in his first 26 games as coach, and won 11 games in 2005 and 2006. The No. 7 Tigers (10-2), whose two losses this season both came in triple overtime, will play Tennessee in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday.
Miles also coached at Oklahoma State, posting a 28-21 record between 2001 and 2004, and was tight ends coach for the Dallas Cowboys between 1998 and 2000.
Miles has a 60-27 overall record in seven seasons as a head coach.

LSU coach Les Miles will meet with the media at the Georgia Dome before the SEC Championship Game to announce that he is staying at LSU, a source told ESPN.com.
LSU associate athletic director Herb Vincent said Saturday morning that ESPN reports that Miles had accepted the head coaching position at Michigan were "inaccurate." Miles agreed to a contract extension Saturday with LSU.
Miles, who played at Michigan and served two stints as an assistant under the late Bo Schembechler, has been eyed as a successor to Lloyd Carr, who stepped down after the Wolverines' loss to Ohio State last month.

Miles has a 60-27 overall record in seven seasons as a head coach.

This is where I'll disagree some with my friend.
The SEC is very competitive; thus, the parity. I remember many OSU(and UM fans) flaming Florida last year beating 4 loss Tennessee by a point, 5 loss South Carolina by a point(2 blocked FGs helped in that one), and only beating 8 loss Vandy by 6. Yes, Florida won those games, but it seems the difference between this year's LSU and UF is the "good luck/breaks." And, obviously, UF had NC talent, got the chance, and hammered the "assumed" best team. |

My sister said the exact same thing when she just got home a little bit ago.
Where does Michigan? Now turn? Ferentz? The black guy from Buffalo? Gruden? Kiffin?
Les Miles owned both of these universities in the last two weeks. |

Did anyone listen(closely) at the press conference? At NO point did he say he WON"T be going to Michigan. At NO point did he say he would be coaching at LSU NEXT year. He simply is pissed off that this news broke and he said that he's the coach at LSU and he'll be coaching at LSU. Both of those statements are true but it still doesn't mean he won't be going to Michigan. Rece Davis said that he has changed from earlier reports and seems to "be leaning" to LSU now. I think this is getting pretty interesting. Oh, and why would the LSU AD not be at a press conference of this magnitude? Hmmmmmm....still has me wondering. |
