exlurker interesting that she uses makari in the hot temperature of Nigeria. i wonder which particular cream she uses, maybe the one that contains sunscreen?

also note that she takes a shower three times a day and goes to a spa.

she has a nice even toned skin from that photo.
November 14th, 2008 05:22 PM
mocha choka Her skin looks beautiful. It's almost as beautiful as my skin. She's probably using the night cream and day cream like some of us here.
November 14th, 2008 06:30 PM
exlurker i think her skin is nice but i will NEVER recommend makari to anyone again because of the boils i got!

there has got to be a product that works for everyone that lightens evenly without giving acne, pimples and boils.
November 14th, 2008 06:56 PM
mocha choka Well, makari has worked beautifully for me and other people. I would definitely recommend it to people who want lighter skin. It's too bad that it didn't work for you. But you need to move on and find something that suits you instead of moping about it like a broken record. That Nigerian woman's skin is absolutely beautiful. And she used makari in the hot weather.
November 14th, 2008 07:21 PM
Babygirl1 It seems to me that exlurker gets upset whenever a member posts positive reviews about makari. I hope she does find a product that works for her because I'm getting tired of her allegedly sob story. I've been using the makari creams for a while and I did not experience breakout. I can see my skin color gradually getter lighter. I use the creams every day, and I love it.

The African actresses' skin is very pretty. Good for her.

Lady C Oh yeh I know Tonto Dyke, I watch some of the Nollywoods movies so i' familiar with some actresses/actors. She's not the only one within Nollywood that bleaches lots of them do it. Oge Okoye openly confessed to using makari you'll have to search her name and look for her interviews yes she mention makari too.
November 15th, 2008 04:55 AM
Lady C And here is Oge Okoye+interview

Delectable Oge Okoye is one of the sought-after actresses in the Nigerian movie industry. Oge who got into the industry barely seven years ago, has proven that her chosen profession was indeed her childhood dream.

She started her acting career when she was a young girl, in the church drama group, and proceeded to study Theatre Arts at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, where she bagged her first degree. The Anambra State born mother of one was inspired by Liz Benson and Olu Jacob, who she refers to as 'Uncle Olu'. She admires Victoria Beckham for her dress sense. In this interview, Oge shares her love for lovely clothes and footwear. She describes her style as 'simple, nice and classy'.

Can you tell us who you are and what you do?
My name is Oge Okoye. Iím an actress, which every body in Nigeria knows me for. I hail from Anambra State. Iím the only child of my parents. My father is late and mother recides in Spain, but comes to Nigeria once in a while.

Apart from acting, what else do you do?Nothing. I have dedicated all my time to acting for now.
Did you set out to be an actress?

I have always wanted to be an actress; right from time, but was just waiting for a breakthrough. I have always wanted to give back to my society and my country. I have always wanted to be associated with acting; I have always wanted to be a celebrity and a super star.

Because, even as a child, I always wanted to act. I was in the church drama group. So, when I grew up, I got into the university to study Theatre Arts and graduated in 2004. While I was in the university, I went for auditioning and started acting; even before I graduated. After my graduation, I got my breakthrough and Iím very thankful for that.

Who influenced your choice?
Nobody per se. But, as a little kid, I always watched TV, read magazines and watched movies. Then, I saw people like Liz Benson, Olu Jacob and host of them. I do admire them and still admire Liz Benson and Uncle Olu.

When I was opportuned to act with them, I was really scared and at the same time happy because these were the people that I used to watch on TV then. And, now Iím here acting with them. So, it was like a dream come true for me. We are still very close; like Aunty Lizzyís daughter is my very good friend. She loves my movies a lot just like I love her mummyís movies. Uncle Olu is very accommodating and just like a father to me.

How long have you been in the industry?
I came into the industry in 2001 so, I would say I have been acting since 2001.
Which movie brought you into limelight?
I got into the limelight with "Sister Mary".

As a very stylish actress, who influenced your dress sense?
Nobody. Because, right from time, I have always been someone that really likes fashion. I like clothes, accessories and stuff like that. I watch movies and see magazines so, I canít really say that someone has influenced my style. I go for things that Iím really comfortable in. I wear things that really look nice on me and things that flatter my shape.
So, you donít have any style icon?

I do admire the way some people dress but I canít say they are my style icons. I like people like Victoria Beckham and Angelina Jolie. I really like the way Victoria Beckham dresses up; her colour combination and her carriage, generally. But, I do not idolize her.
How do you make an outfit yours?

Putting on a dress is one thing, knowing how to combine it with the right accessories is another thing. I try not to be too loud with my accessories or colours. I always try to wear something very simple but exquisite. I wear my accessories - like my shoes, handbag - if need be - my jewellery and my sunglasses but the most important thing is the colour.

What are your fashion items?Iím not really an accessories person but, most times, I put on gold and costumes - especially when Iím acting. I also love good shoes, bags, jeans and sunglasses.
Must have fashion items?

Lip gloss and my sunglasses.
With a hundred and fifty thousand naira, which of theses items would you rather pick first?
Oh my God! This is a big one here! Wow! I think with that kind of money, I would go for a nice footwear then, maybe, some nice jewellery too.

What is your beauty routine?
Well, I use Makari beauty products - the entire range. I go for my facials about twice a month and (for) every other thing about my body - like waxing because, I donít joke with my body. I go for massage and my eye lashes.

Also, I do a lot of exercises. I love swimming a lot, mostly during weekends. I do my gym work in the house because, I have one in the house so I donít need to go out for that. I spend one and a half hours each morning in the gym.

I watch what I eat but whenever I feel bloated, I go on fruits alone - no solid food for one week. Itís quite hard but very rewarding. It helps me to lose weight drastically. Also, I wash. my face every night, before I go to bed.

What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion to me, is putting on something that you are very comfortable in; something that suits your body shape; something flashy but not loud. And, wearing something that projects your image or personality.

What about style?
Style is what you make out of what you have. Style is you, your person, your own packaging... What you are known for, the way you walk, the way you eat, the way you dress and every thing that makes you who you are, is your style.

So, in one word, how would you describe your personal style?
Simple, nice and classy.
Any high moment?
None, for now

Dull Moment?
None as well.
Wish list?
For God to keep me and kep my family alive.
Fans?
Thank you for appreciating my work and if you want to chat with me send a mail to ogeokoye28@yahoo.com I will be very glad to talk to you

its not an alleged sob story, just telling as it is. its not all positive reviews and doesn't work for everyone. but you are right, i do need to shut up about it now.

by the way, i often wonder why people get so defensive about this product. yeah it worked for you thats good, but don't get upset with me for saying it didn't work for me. i have a reason to be upset because i spent my money and didn't get the results but what reason do you have for getting upset just because i post a not so positive review? its not your money unless you own the company, why not just ignore my post?

but as i said before, i will shut up about it now.

MAHARANI exlurker,

Like you, I had a really bad experience with makari. I saw lovely lightening but the dreaded boils and my usual flawless skin looked really bad. I promised that I wouldn't ever use it again......However after using various products since then, I returned to using the day cream along with other products and TOUCH wood, I have not experienced the same outcome. I use retin A every so often and I only apply the makari once a day as oppposed to day and night as before.

I get the feeling that unlike me, you would not ever be tempted to put makari anywhere near your skin again, but just wanted to share my experience.

thanks Maharani, im glad it worked out for you in the end.

this experience has encouraged me to research more and read mixed views before purchasing any products. i guess we all have to experiment to find what suits us.

anyway, im using more natural ways to treat my skin from within. its fun using home made products.

which retin A product do you use?

i know what you mean, i met rita dominic in a private party in london late last year and she didn't seem that light to me. she is so lovely by the way and i do think she is beautiful. she sometimes appears lighter in some films but then the flash light they use in films make some of these actresses appear lighter.

i was definately lighter than her but you have to remember that in Nigeria, if you are not chocolate, you are "yellow'. lol.

SassyM I agree that lady in the pictures skin looks really nice. Like the others here, I've been using the makari creams and my skin looks much lighter and blemish free. I'm starting to see a partern with exlurker. Whenever a member talks about their postive results from makari, she'll jump in and dampen everything. People should be happy for others and not get upset when other people have success from products such as makari. Congratulations to all of you who had results from the creams.

i have noticed that too and i apologise! its not fair for me to do that to others, i guess i was p*ssed at what the product did to me.

but lets keep this forum mature and move on like the others said. im over it now so no need to single out my name as it just disrupts the post.

taffy25 Exlurker has the right to post her views even if it's always negative. I've read some of her posts regarding makari, but it didn't stop me from buying it. I decided to try the makari products for myself, and I did get good results from it. I wish makari could make a skin lightening lotion for the body because it's getting too expensive to use the night cream there.

well would you call eve or michelle williams (destiny's child) light skin?

i'd say she is somewhere between. mind you i think eve has lightened her skin since she first came out but i still will not call her light skinned, what do you think?
November 16th, 2008 01:34 PM
honeydip michelle is more brown skinned and i always thought eve had a darker body and lighter face, from her videos and photo shoots you will see

  Yep I heard people describe themselves as fair-skinned and they were wesley snipes complexion...im like okay...whatever.

In the caribbean Michelle & Eve et al would be described as ''brown skinned'' like honeydip mentioned. I'm about there colour and my grandma has made reference to me as that.

P.S I think Rita Dominica is slightly lighter then Michelle and Eve she's got more yellow undertones.

yeah so i would say she was like a michelle but honestly i thought she would be lighter in person. i still think she is lovely.

i wonder what eve uses, i agree her face and neck colour is different to her body. in her tambourine video she looked light but then its the lights and then in some more recent pictures she looks brown but she definately has that "i use a cream" look.

carrib25 i think rihanna has the best complexion in the industry right now
she used to be that caramel complexion, as above when she first came out but she is now a high high yellow colour

i would love to see what her beauty regime consists of
