Topie: Extreme pain right before bowel movement
December 31st, 2006 01:14 PM
danny I apologize for the disgusting nature of this topic, but I am finding that right before I have a bowel movement, I have tremendous pain that almost has me doubling over in agony. This doesn't happen all the time, in fact it only happens about one time out of five. Has anyone else experienced this?

judiblueyes May be spasms from an irritable bowel. I get it sometimes, and it also can be a muscle that is knotting. Go to the doc to make sure that everything is OK and that you do not have any narrowing in your intestines.

faith Yeah I do get that when I need to go after being bunged up for a bit...and not always like ya say just now and then but really not for a long time really lucky for me..

I always thought it was this...when the bowels get sort of blocked by hard constipation which can be a hard lumpy blockage in the long snake like bowel...the bowel finally starts to contract and tries to expell this...in doing so it causes cramp like pain in the tummy and sweats and sometimes even a feeling of dizziness and nausia... I have at times even felt (on the side of my belly) a sort of lump

Then it is rumbleing around like a snake trying to crawl...and finally a b.m. is possible..and once it starts to be expelled the symptoms go away..

That is how it gets for me sometimes...does that sound familiar to you guys?

mrmichael67 My daughter and my mother both get that too. Well, not excrutiating pain, but pain none the less. I would get it checked out too. My daughter just gets gas pains and that is what the doc said it was. My mom has diverticulosis.

danny Thanks for the replies. If it continues, I guess I'll have to have it checked out. I try to avoid doctor visits these days because I no longer have insurance.

Breeze Well, I sure do experience this problem as well. What I do, to help myself, is take a natural safe laxative daily. I take them in the morning, like I do with my viatimins. I also have seen my doctor about this, and he prescribed me Glycolax, which also helps a lot. Methadone, and other pain meds, will cause severe constipation. These things help make it hurt less. You may still be constipated, but it will help ease some of the pain. And the excruciating pain, right before you go, is normal too. It's just a sign that you need to go. So, when you feel that pain, it's time to go. hehe I experience the same thing. In fact, I was just talking about this with my sister, and she has that same pain too. She isn't on any medications, so it's actually quite normal. I hope some of this helps ya! We're all in there with ya! hehe
