Topie: Is it bad if your chest hurts when you sneeze??
March 15th, 2007 12:35 PM
Murg Everytime I sneeze, which has been frequent yesterday and today, my chest aches. It almost feels like my ribs.

??

Jason I think it just means you have been eating too many hot dogs... :aok
March 15th, 2007 12:42 PM
Murg I actually haven't had a hot dog in quite a while.

March 15th, 2007 12:45 PM
Murg yes hot dogs are wonderful but my chest still feels like ive been stabbed when i sneeze :(
March 15th, 2007 12:46 PM
Jason Hmm.. Sounds like you have a bad chest cold or a broken rib..
March 15th, 2007 12:49 PM
Murg Thank you Dr. Greenberg. :aok

It's weird...I'm not really coughing that much....at all really. I definitely have a cold. The pain feels like my ribs. Like I can feel it when I breathe really deeply.
March 15th, 2007 12:57 PM
Jason It sounds like you have been taking it deep a little too much...
March 15th, 2007 12:58 PM

March 15th, 2007 01:05 PM
melanie why are you sneezing? if its a cold or something then its prob just congestion, but if it hurts bad get it checked out for sure.....
March 15th, 2007 01:05 PM
melanie hot dog the movie? :huh :lol
March 15th, 2007 01:08 PM
Murg I'm not sure taking it deep in social situations would lead to chest pain when I sneeze. It may have lead to this slight cold I have now...I guess the question is are the two related?

It doesn't hurt like "ow my chest hurts i have broncitis and im coughing my brains out" It hurts like "damn...i think my ribs are broken"

Ok..yah...either way I'm dying. Thanks guys :)

Jordan I will take that hotdog
March 15th, 2007 01:17 PM

:lol

murg! i hope you're okay... i've had pain in my ribs before while sneezing, but it never lasted long, and i never sneezed much through the whole ordeal. i say give it a couple days and then go to the doc if it persists.. but i hate doctors, so i usually just ride it out always. good luck! :aok

((((feel better vibes... it's your big birthday weekend!))))

It's probably muscular. Take 600mg of Ibuprofen, up to 4 times a day (every 4 hours or so), and if the pain persists after a week, see a doctor. :aok

corteztheki1ler diddy - you're all about prescribing people cures. :aok
March 15th, 2007 02:16 PM
Murg I'm already eating a shitload of Tylenol for the cold/mini fever. Not sure if I want to do both.

Thanks Allie :)

various cold-like ailments come with muscle aches, if it lasts for weeks on end then you probably have a real problem
March 15th, 2007 05:31 PM
Jason As Diddy mentioned, it's also very likely that you simply pulled a muscle in your chest while sneezing. It happens to me all the time, mostly in my back but also sometimes in the my chest or my ribs.. I think you'll be okay.. ;)
March 15th, 2007 05:39 PM
kramer you're probably dying
March 15th, 2007 08:14 PM
Liz As Jason said, you probably have been sneezing so much and hard that you could have pulled a muscle. You certainly can take Advil/Ibuprofen (same thing, also Motrin is the same). They are metabolized differently advil in the kidneys and tylenol in the liver so don't be drinking too much if you are taking lots of tylenol, and drink lots and lots of water if you are taking either. Not to mention it is better to keep your self hydrated to get over your cold better. You could actually alternate Tylenol and Advil every 4 hours, you will actually have better results for fever reducing if you do alternate. In addition the Advil will be better for the muscle pain your are experiencing in your rib/chest area. Hope this helps. And feel better soon!!!
