I have set my new board to where new members are "pending" till I add them. That's not the problem. My two friends have both registered and been accepted. I made them both Administrators.
There are only two forums right now on my board. The first is set for viewing and posting by anyone (registered or not). The second is set for Admin/Moderators/Authorized viewing and posting.
My one friend has not had any problems accessing either forum. My friend from England (Peter) can access the first board but cannot view or post in the second (private). What setting have I got messed up? Or what does Petere need to do (He checked the box to accept cookies when he registered).
Thanks for any help - Lady

it sounds like Peter has not yet been authorized, it would help if we know where your board is |

Oh, Peter's been authorized and made administrator. The board is
http://excoboard.com/exco/index.php?boardid=8025
but, altho it's set (the first forum - Welcome) to viewing and posting by anyone whether registered or not, no one can post until they are "accepted" by me.
My second friend who has also been accepted and made administrator, has no problem accessing the private forum (or the first one).
I have changed Peter's account to "Authorized User" in hopes that this will allow him into the private forum.
any suggestions appreciated. And thank you Krillmeed for answering so quickly.

Let us know how it goes, i noticed you mention on your forum about watching out for pop ups. This is not brave net, apart from the advertisements at the top, that is all there is, no spyware or anything on Excoboards, and Peter (The main man for Excoboards) still manages to keep them free |

Okies, friend from England, Peter, still cannot access the private (admin/mod/authorized) area of my board. Also myself and the other user of the board (set to administrator) are having login problems - sometimes the excoboard says we don't have an account (email verification states that yes, we do, yes, we are administrators). . . and the same thing happens on this support forum - yesterday I could log in here, but not onto my excoboard.
What's up with that? Any help will be appreciated. And just a note: I LOVE the setup of these forums and boards. Very easy to navigate and use.

what ISP are you using?
Wasn't there an ISP not to long ago blocking ExCo boards for some reason? |

NTL, anyone with that isp has problems with excoboards, though there was a way round it, one of my moderators who uses it can now finally get back on the board |

I use Earthlink. I will ask the others - I believe Peter has Broadband of some sort.
Umm. . pardon my ignorance, but what is NTL? |

From Peter (WildEdric on my board)
Here I am again. All cookies allowed and accepted normally as per support's message.
They might want to know:- I am using Mozilla v 1.7,
ZoneAlarm 5.5.062
I have never actually been able to log in. On the opening screens it says I have never visited. I didn't realize this until tonight, as I've always supplied Username and Password to send each specific message.
The last time I got my logon details emailed to me it said my account was Active, status was Administrator, and it gave me my id and password.
I don't seem to be getting emails about my account any more when I request them. If I try to register, it says that my name is owned by someone else (presumably me).

tell him to try using Internet Explorer. Probably isnt the problem, but doesn't hurt to try. |
