Hey smart people!
So we can't use java script in our signatures or when posting messages?
Someone is trying to paste JS code for a countdown clock in their signature and it's appearing blank. Their code is right off of a techy website so it can't be the code that's wrong.
Just wondering if we're doing something wrong or if java is restricted.
....in that case, does anyone know where to get a countdown clock that we CAN put in our sigs on the board?

Hi!.... Java Script is an HTML script. It would work if you have HTML option ON in signatures.
But mind it, enabling HTML option in signatures and posts is very risky, as some sick-minded members might end up pasting codes for malacious scripts which can ruin the computer or softwares.
So mostly in boards, its very less where HTML is put ON. If you do, you are doing at your own risk. So its totally your wish. |

i agree with ViV. don't turn html on unless you really trust people - there are some real malicious people out there, and with html spyware or anything like that can be easily downloaded onto your computer without knowing. |

LOL :) Trust me these people don't know a thing about being malicious to computers. It's only 14 of us mom's that have been friends for about 2 years from another message board. I'm actually the most computer literate person on the board ~haha~ so I'm not worried about them wigging out and messing up our systems. Plus our board is locked so no one on the outside can get in and mess stuff up. I'll have to check on that html thing being in the sigs. I think it is on. I'll try the counter thing again. Hope it works :)

Some Java will not work in posts. But does in sigs.
I have never had a problem with my board and I have HTML open in sigs and posts.
There are some nasty scripts out there though so you do have to watch things. |
