sdn Open your Control Panel and go to User Administration. Scroll down to her name and make sure that her drop-down list says "Administrator". If it doesn't, change it.

Mallka Ive done that and it still says admin...............im stumped!

sdn Are you absolutely sure you saved the list of banned IPs after taking her off?
March 9th, 2004 08:51 PM
Mallka yes ive done it about 20x now in hopes it will let her back in. I saved it after i removed her Ip

sdn Are there any other IPs in your ban list? If there are, post them here. You can censor them if you want.

Mallka ok i deleted all my banned ip's and redid them...it worked and now shes in. I wonder if this is a bug or something ?

sdn Did you have any incomplete IPs banned (ie 127.0.0) or were they all four parts?
March 9th, 2004 09:49 PM
Mallka I have complete ips banned, now it seems some memebrs who were never banned cant get on, its telling them they are banned too!

TK-7771 I may be wrong, but I remember hearing something from a mod I know at another forum that ISPs like AOL have some kind of IP sharing thing. That may be your case. Not sure how it works. But you may wanna go with banning usernames instead of IPs.

sdn Find a post by a banned member (if you can) and click the IP link. Then compare their IP to the banned admin's IP. If they have the first three numbers in common (not totally sure about this, my networking class is next year; someone correct me if I'm wrong), they might have the same ISP. If they do, it could be a problem with the way the ISP assigns IP addresses. TK, I think the topic about America OffLine you're talking about is here.

TK-7771 Yeah, I remember that one.

Isnt some kind of subnet thing?I'm not a network guy at all,but I'm learning :D . slowly :(

sdn Yeah, subnets. And, uh, subnets. Do they have something to do with binary numbers (they probably do)? I've heard Cisco Networking is pretty easy, but apparently the computer teacher at my school won't let people surf the internet after they finish an assignment.

Markus Make sure the you don't have a space after the last IP, or before the first IP. It would ban everyone. We will be making IP banning easier soon.

BuyShopSpend my dad knows all about networking. He network the studios at the knew radio station down here. Ill see if can get him.

Gary I have found that AOL, MSN users have the same IPs. So this does not help things lol. So you could have a problem with an AOL user and ban the IP but ban some other members that use AOL and have that IP.

Mallka well hopefuly soon they will fix this bug LOL
