So question other than IB and ThinkorSwim does any other brokerage offer a "margin" IRA account? |

Member, Wanlorn;
Do you guys see any trend to follow on SHZ or REE?
They are from the same family of MCP. MCP is scary now. It is getting shorted now. No point of daytrading or chasing it.
I think SHZ has a little room for daytrading, not today. I have been watching them since Friday but not dare to dip my toe. I think this going to be hot stocks for a little while but not easily to trade.
Do you see any pattern when to enter or exit? I know that it seems simple but Chinese stocks are different to trade, very volatile.

margin IRA accounts are prohibited.
I think you can only trade covered calls too. |

True margin IRAs are prohibited however IB and TS have a limited margin IRA that allows instant settlement instead of T+3 and allows pattern day trader.
You can not use leverage or short. |

I don't know the answer to wanlorn's or Shazee's question. I've transferred all my accounts to IB and am very happy with them. I absolutely love not having the three-day settlement rule so I can FKOS to my heart's content on those two IRAs. |

hey membar,
can you do a server side "One triggers OTA (OT/OTA)":
Trade 1 --> Trade 2 --> Trade 3
type orders in IB? |

Thanks Member.
I don't know much about IRA. I had 3K from an old old job that I did not know that I had 401k with them and I converted to Roth IRA with TD Amertrade so I could use TD Amertrade platform.
I only believe in Cash, physical gold/diamonds and offshore properties/ business for retirement. |

IB has a gazillion different order types, all of which are server-side:
http://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/p.php?f=orderTypes
If you want to do a TSK-type play, you could do place bracket orders at open. You'd place two others: one for FAS and one for FAZ. The parent order would be a Market-If-Touched order and the child orders would be a stop order and a profit target order. (You can set some insanely high profit target if you don't want one.)
You'd still have to close these out at the end of the day if you don't want to use something automated.
There are all kinds of additional conditions you can set with conditional orders and alerts. From what I remember with the rep, these are all stored server side. |

shazee - where are we going from here?
1. Bit more up, little pull back, way up then
2. In a maze for now, going no where, not up, not down
3. Gradual up
4. Drop coming |

According to PUG who has been watching SPX and disscuse SPX TA ( using FIB and EW).
A drop to 1245 by Thursday or Friday and rally to 1290 in mid January.
By Summer 2011, We will see SPX 1450.
May I add;"" Yike"" to this market manipulation; but we are here to make money not to challange Mr. Market. This is only based on TA , not any other factors outside the box.
If we go below EMA (13)=1243, then close all the long and rebuy them at lower. This market is heading to the sky.
So far, everything he said, it has been right on the DOT. I subscribed to his website. His charts convinced me that not buy faz/drv for now. I saved a lot of money because of him. |

Member,
I don't really think massive sell off would happen, but I think some people will take profit by the end of the year.
If I see something I let people know but I don't want to cause any fear and people start selling off.
I do my best. |

I expect a pullback starting in mid January along the lines of 8 or 9% not to exceed 10%. If it does make it to 1290 that would put SPX in the 1175 to 1185 range before the end of January. My IRA is in cash equiv right now earning small interest. I plan to get back in SPX once we get a small pull back under 1250 and then get out before mid January again. |

I've got a formula for the sell stop that's more than just a function of ATR, but it's still just an FKOS variant. I'm not sure if I've over analyzed the data and added too many fine-tuned constants. I guess we'll see. |

Wanlorn,
Overall, you are right. Mid Feb would be ugly, SPX 1175. Every pull back causes this market goes up, but there is going to be some sell off eventually.
This market will not go up straight or down. The main thing is this market is going up.
We will hear inflation in year 2011 and Hackers who will affect the capitalism in year 2011 by Doug kass prediction. More stories to help big players to push the market anyway the want. BUT the notion is market to close higher b/c of the 3rd year of presidency.
So far this market is going up by small volume. Important people come next week and they make the changes. NO POMO for 12/30 or 12/31. Spaculation is small sell off before the year end.
BTW, this market does not fall off the cliff at once. There are supports that need to be broken before we go to 1175.
For example, SPX 1250, 1243, 1229,1219, 1200, 1185, 1175, 1150. I am using a ball park numbers from memory.
Good luck everybody. I have to work tonight and I need to take a nap.

I'll run my least squares fit like I did a year ago this weekend:
http://finance.google.com/group/google.finance.11217091/browse_thread/thread/a78a706003e9c3da/64e581f53a104eb6
It had predicted 1320 for a finish of 2010. We're currently at 1259.78, so I guess I overpredicted by +4.8%. Maybe we'll have a flash short squeeze in the next couple of days. |
