I subscribe to his weekly newsletter, which I find well worth the $5.48 per month (no affiliation with this guy).

membar In FAZ @ 59.99, out at 60.29 (sold too soon because I was looking at the wrong ticker symbol)

In FAZ @ 60.24, SL 57.83, PT 70.04. Pulled the trigger too soon on this one, most likely.

membar I doubled down on my Oct $140 GLD puts. They're much cheaper now and I'm still not convinced GLD isn't going to tank in the coming weeks.

Oops. I meant 61.04, and this profit target hit.

I can't believe this scalping stuff has actually been working for me. It's with small amounts, though, so I'm not sure it would psychologically scale to bigger amounts.

membar Gold and silver are tanking again today. Good thing I doubled down on those puts. If gold crashes, I want it to crash big time now, way below $140 so the two $140 puts offset the $160 one I sold.

membar This is the part where it becomes very, very, very, very difficult not to dump my ZSL before EOD.

Looks like I'm talking to an empty room today.

This was probably a mistake. Should have waited to closer to 15:30 to see what trend developed.

Yowza! It's a long covering rally. I can't believe I'm going to lose my money again!

...out at 104.00. Easy come (FAZ scalps this morning), easy go. 1% loss for today on the discretionary trading.

I read his book "Neat little book ...", and I have to say, although I enjoyed his general advice, I didn't think that his pick of CROX at the time was the best advice (prior to its precipitous drop).

Here's an excellent book on beating the market IMO.

Hey Allen,

I try to not listen to anyone's stock picks, but rather general strategies and stuff. One thing I like about his weekly newsletter is his exhaustive analysis of the market. Also, I think that CROX is up over 150%+ from the time he bought it, despite the drop. He's a smart, insightful guy. That said, he does IMO dumb things like buying and holding leveraged bear ETFs for weeks on end until he gets massacred and playing with oil ETFs which are also subject to leverage decay and contango, so I stay away from his individual picks in general. (That said, he recommended RIG at $50 and on the surface that seems like a sound pick.)

That Ivy book sounds interesting. Have you bought and read it? What do you think about it compared to the strategies you're doing or your UPRO stuff in your IRA accounts? Seems more simpler.
