membar Made a handful of discretionary trades this morning:

- bought 1 AAPL Oct $330 Put
- bought 100 FAS @ 13.17
- sold 1 FAS Oct $14 call @ 1.30

membar In FAS @ 13.12, profit target 13.27. I think I might have been too soon on this one.

...out at 13.22. Wasn't going up confidently enough for my taste.

~0.5% profit. Going to try for another 0.5% later.

ISA_Coder i bought 100 shares of AGQ yesterday at 200.00 and kind of forgot about it because i left myself with enough to still day trade. My original goal was to hold until 220 to get a nice round 10% / 2K on this, but I'm currently up close to 3% and my instincts are yelling at me to sell. I guess i'm just no good at buying and holding...not patient enough.

ISA_Coder BTW member, i saw you mentioned me yesterday but i was confused on what part you were crediting to me....

Time to short the strategy again.

Strategies are in FAZ & ZSL. Ahead in both for now.

In FAS @ 12.84. profit target 12.99. Mental stop loss around 12.36.

Ding! I think ISA_Coder is my new hero. I'm 4 for 4 so far.
September 20th, 2011 10:12 AM
membar In FAS @ 13.08, profit target 13.23.

Bought back my call @ 1.30 and sold those 100 FAS @ 13.23. +1.5% profit for the day including my earlier FAS trades. I'm going to call that mission accomplished for today.

Daytrading strategies: in ZSL (ahead) and FAZ (behind).

One more trade, because I'm so utterly convinced that shorting my strategies is the thing to do.

In ZSL @ 12.28, profit target 12.40, though I reserve the right to get out sooner.

Sorry - I was so busy with my spamming that I didn't see your post lost in the middle.

I referred to you as my hero because this scalping thing has been working out for me and I thought it was kind of cool.

BTW: AGQ can be very volatile and can turn on you as soon as you sneeze. Caveat emptor.

Ouchie. Not sure whether to hold to my stop loss or sell. The daytrading strategy has AGQ, so it's not the worst thing in the world if ZSL tanks.

Ding! This is like taking candy from a baby, although that baby is bludgeoning me over the head with the daytrading strategies.

Easy money is always easy.

BullDog Come on baby, do we see FAS 14 -> 15 -> 15.98 ?
Bernanke, do ur magic :-) Do we have QE3?

BullDog Obama steals a page from Buffets book -
Warren Buffett's call for higher taxes on the super rich inspired President Obama to propose a "rule" for taxing millionaires more.

Moral of story: Makes a lot of money from investments, which are taxed at a lower rate than wages.

I wish I could predict what the market was going to do. We could get a Europe blowup shortly after buying FAS.

membar The last thing I feel I should do is taking advantage of this EOD trendedness I've been seeing lately around 14:30, 15:00 or 15:30. I think that's too advanced for me, though, and I'm already up 2.5% today (in my discretionary trades).
September 20th, 2011 03:15 PM
allen314159 I'm still at the spook zoo hoping for an EOD sell-off :(

You only use a stop if SPY gaps down, right?

Only if I'm in UPRO and it gaps down do I use a stop. But I've normalized my position sizing to be 2x the S&P 500 volatility since that's what I'm comfortable with...

I might go back to FAS/FAZ because I feel like I can derive better strategies with them. They kinda feel more like home to me. :p

FAS / FAZ have been mean monsters lately for me. I'm about to get stopped out in FAS again. I should have just hopped on FAZ at 15:00.

I'm kind of close to throwing in the towel with daytrading. It's loss after loss after loss.

Agreed, short term trading is v difficult with FAS now a days. Guarantied to loose money. I am 2 scared to do anything with FAS short term, I am holding my longs thought as I have staying power and in no hurry to sell at these low prices.
